I am a HUGE fan of Karve. Expect nothing but quality and perfection from Karve with their machining, precision, and attention to detail with their design. I purchased many products from Karve and they are all spectacular. The Bison is a new great addition and I love the way it shaves, nearly impossible to nick yourself with or over-shave. Razor Emporium also did a fantastic job of polishing my Karve Overlander SS, it's a gorgeous razor.
Henson is a gateway drug into traditional wet shaving. My first DE razor was a Henson. After I got my Karve Overlander - aluminum (with the optional 4 inch handle), I gave my nephew the Henson mild along with 80 plus blades.
Yep, my Karve "CB" all brass long handle razor is a smooth operator, got it when they first came out years ago with several base plates, great shaver. Nice to know there's no seconds, first class all the way. Thanks Matt for all the new products your carrying, one stop shopping is a plus.
I’m eagerly awaiting an Overlander. I wanted to wait for bronze to come back in but just folded and grabbed a brass. The Bizon (😂) looks interesting. Fun video.
The Overlander is still my #1 razor that I have used so far (I got mine in SS) and it's even better in rhodium, so I'm thankful to both Chris and the Karve staff as well as Matt and Razor Emporium. I've used quite a bit of razors for these past three years since starting this hobby and this combo has been one of the best for me and my skin type, so thank you guys for awesome experiences in the wet shaving world. 😊😊😊 Edit: @12:20 ~ This is so very true. Henson has done a phenomenal job of getting people into the hobby because of their advertising and because of the ease of use of their razors. From the talks of the aluminum being used from aerospace parts to the set shaving angle built into the razor head, the Henson razors are probably the most easiest-to-use razors on the market and never fail o give me an amazing shave from a wide variety of razor blades. That is almost not the case for almost any other razor that I own.
Such a great video with two legends. Matt is telling the truth when he said he personally inspects every razor after being revamped. I had my D3 fatboy done and he’s included in all the communication and he signs it off after being finalized. Razor Emporium is solid. Oh, and they ship fast too.
RE is basically a bunch of anti-God antifa girls and people who are so illegal they cannot even procure an actual checking account. Place is not what you see on youtube.
Karve Razors are wicked. I have the CB in brass and in copper. Love the weight and quality! When I can afford it, I’d like to get a Rex Razor in Rhodium.
Met Chris twice. 1st was at S'west. Second time at the AZ Shavers Meet Up. Very nice, friendly guy. I own a bunch of Karve razors. One of which i bought from you guy's at RE. 😁👍🏼
16:10 exactly! I was talking to my barber about this. I think alot of guys struggle to make the jump that self care (shaving, hair, smelling good) is just as masculine as the opposite end. The manly man raised us, and most of them taught us efficiency, 5 min SSS (ya know, shower, shave). Anything more is primping. If we can break that down, I think the stigma goes away and we move forward.
Beautiful video Matt! ❤😊👍🏾. Enjoyed all the banter and insights into both of your companies. You guys are awesome. Keep up the great work for wet shavers worldwide!👍🏾👍🏾
Great video. I love the spotlight series that you not only do for your products, but for the artisans. You find out some really cool things and information that tells a lot about that person. So now we know that each Karve razor is inspected by Chris before it goes out. That is good business and that to me would make me want to buy a Karve razor. Great job guys! 🙂👊
Great video. Chris’s shop is only a few blocks from the machine shop where I work, so I have been able to buy all my Karve products in person. Have had good conversations with Chris about shaving and the whole manufacturing and quality control process that is behind every razor he makes. I started the journey with Henson a little over a year ago, found out that Karve was local and immediately went to get a brass CB with four SB plates (A - D) and eventually a stand. Recently bought my wife a blue Bison which she has had no trouble learning to use. I am also looking to introduce my two daughters to the Bison so they can join in sustainable shaving and get rid of the plastic. For myself I am waiting on getting the aluminum Overlander with the new Project X handle. Also bought my first premium shave soaps from Chris, of which he has a good selection on hand, along with balms, splashes and brushes. Overall a fantastic experience with Chris and Karve.
Congrats - you're the winner of the Weekly T-Shirt give-away! Please contact us at help@razoremporium.com with your address and size and we will get it shipped out right away! Thanks everyone! Stay tuned next week for another giveaway! - Razor Emporium Team
This was an excellent conversation. I’ve had the chance to talk with Chris on two occasions, the 2019 S’West Meetup and then your most recent meetup and I really enjoyed the conversations. Thanks for carrying his product.
Karve is definitely one of the most consistent razor manufacturers. He deserves the success. Only issue I have with the overlander is it drags a little for me. But it's very gentle and clamped better than most any other razor
12:37 This statement is so true. I started off in this hobby with a Leaf Twig. I really didn't want to spend $100 on a razor. I enjoyed it so much that I made it a part of my weekly routine. Then I started getting different razors like the Muhle Rocca and, finally, the Blackland Osprey. Never would I have thought I would spend $425 on a polished razor, but here we are. I'm looking to get a Konsul Slant next, and most likely an Overlander, now that I know of that excellent design.
A great shave does that to you very easily, lol. I never thought I'd spend nearly $200 for my Overlander plus getting it in rhodium for like another $100, but receiving an immaculate shave is truly priceless compared to cartridge shaving or something else. A great shave is truly one of life's great experiences. 😊
@@Kenoji8 i agree with you 100%. Ever since I started shaving, I feel a lot more confident in my presentation. And I enjoy the ritual of the experience, too.
Thank you for posting this excellent video. It was so interesting watching the two of you shave. I don't think I am able to shave while talking to another person -- or while talking at all. I feel a powerful need to work with the razor and view every movement I make with it. I like the green Karve product -- it looks good and I am now curious about it. Seeing the gold plated razor makes me think of my rhodium plated Gilette Tech. I think the plating done for Chris is superb. I was very tempted to get my Envoy XL razor plated in rhodium, just like the Tech, but after thinking about it, I decided on the standard finish without polishing so I can get a sense of what shaving with it is like. Speaking as a customer, I am really glad that you and Chris have high standards for your products and exercise excellent quality control. That is exactly why I put down my money. I'm after high end products, and I want to see that my purchases are carefully made and inspected before they go into the shipping process. I want to do my best work in my own profession, too.
This was a fun video. I love my Karve CB for it's smooth shave, grippy handle and beautiful brass patina. I'm very impressed by the standards and quality control that goes into Krave's production.
Dude needs help with his lather lol. Would like to see more videos like this. Two people shaving at the same time using the same razor, blades...etc and then giving their opinions. Kind of like Siskel & Ebert.
I like my Christopher Bradley Aluminum razor so I ordered a Bison in Tangerine(Lime doesn't do much for me). I did go to a more aggressive plate on the Christopher Bradley, so I wait to see
Great “interview” guys. I agree Karve is second to none with quality. I have a CB and will likely get an Overlander. Bison will wait likely until brass or SS. MacDuffs soap is good stuff.
Great video, as always. 🤣 Matt, I notice that you don't use an alum block at the end of your shaves like I see some youTubers do. Is there a reasoning behind the sans alum shave? 🤔 As for me, I just discovered that using alum was the cause of a bump on my face that I had a heck of a time getting rid of. When I ditched the alum, the bump went away. I was so close to seeing a dermatologist about it. I don't miss the alum either. After I got the bump under control I went with one pass shaving. All I can say is, "man, is my face happy!!!!"
Another great video Matt! I am glad that you showcased Chris and Karve. He makes excellent razors and his commitment to high quality is exemplary. Great to see two titans of the Traditional Shaving Community spending time together shaving (carefully) while chatting about their passion. Way cool!
@@stefanpuffer same here. I have the ambassador. But, I feel like I would want a precision like shave over blade feel. I checked the dent and scratched and found nothing and currently don't have the funds. But, I plan to get it eventually.
Karve just recently changed the Bison Razor from a single tone to a two tone razor. Now it just look dumb. We need to petition Karve to change it back. 😔😔😔
I like how Chris makes the G Series handles inspired by vintage Gillettes. He makes a fat handle Tech handle, common bar, and ball end handle at 3" in solid materials and with their perfect threading. I love my fat handle Overlander!
You're welcome, since I was the one to email him with pictures and measurements and kept asking him too just like I did with Razorock and they replicated the Gillette New before cutting off the UK.

My favourite razor manufacturer. My one and only razor is the Karve Overlander. Chris is an awesome guy.

One day I'll have a rhodium overlander. The gold one is beautiful. 👍
Sooo jealous! Recently became big fan of Macduff’s shave soap. I need to get some ‘Canadian Tuxedo’. Sell me yours, Matt! 😆. Nice vid, thanks guys!
Been looking forward to this U-Tube , as I met Chris at the Meetup.
He has passion, looking forward to the Bison, in Brass.

It's been dog years since I've seen anyone palm lather. Wow & kudos!
Really enjoy this style of video, thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you!
Have a good weekend 🙏
It is so great to see Chris on the channel.
The Bison is at the top of my wish list, and I am saving for one.
Great video, I like the shaving and just talking and not having a forced sales pitch.
Thank you
Great video. I will look into Karve razors. Have a great weekend guys. 👍
Thanks! You too!

You will LOVE the Overlander. IMO its the best DE razor ever made.
I am enjoying my Rockwell R1, I want to upgrade one day 🎉❤ thanks a lot for the razor.
Amazing show !!!!!!
I like Chris even more now I know he bowl lathers.
gear gear and chat, best wishes dapper shaves
Thanks🙏🏼💪🏼
Hey, random question being sent out into the void, why doesn’t RE have any Karve in stock. Did the relationship go south?
No. We always order them and it just takes a while to get our ordera filled.
Great video, as always. 🤣

After I got the bump under control I went with one pass shaving. All I can say is, "man, is my face happy!!!!"
Same for me - doesn't agree with my skin
No alum for me. Severe redness on my neck. Post shave consists of very cold water, witch hazel, and balm.

As good as modern DE razors are, nothing beats a vintage Gillette for me. And i say that as a 26 year old, 7 year wetshaver.
I want to try the the rex supply company Sentry Slant or Konsul
I'm eyeballing the Konsul myself.
