    Two corrections:
First, I called the Falcon a Hornet when talking about the mission, "New Alexandria." Rookie mistake.
Secondly, I say that the same mission plays out in the same way every time, when in fact, the order of locations you visit can change on subsequent playthroughs. I hadn't noticed until I replayed Halo: Reach after making this video and it was a dumb oversight on my part. If I was re-doing the video, I'd still use the mission as an example of some missed potential, as I think it would be better served by letting you go to any of the signal jammers from the beginning of the level.
There are probably more that I've missed, so feel free to call me out in the comments.

Absolutely fantastic analysis, really nailed things I knew I liked about the original game and also what I didn't know I liked, but did. Like how you point out how later games take choice away in a sense.
Ironically, personally, Halo 4's second mission comes the most close to this infamous mission. It is compounded by how you're all alone, and only in a single area where you freely explore the canyon that is laid out with numerous enemy encampments. Since you're alone you can also, for the first time, use the turret on the Warthog. It is almost a painful level, as after this stage the entire game becomes something else entirely (and imo, worse). You can clearly see that they indeed did get what made Halo, well, Halo, but decided they wanted to do something else. Which sucks.

I think those flashes of what 343's games could be are the most annoying part of it- you can squint and almost see it being a great successor. Thanks for the comment.
      (love Stinger btw)

Great video. After playing through the series, Halo kinda strikes me as a "confused" series in a sense; it has extremely strong and unique aspects, but has difficulty evolving them, and occasionally forgets what they even are. The fact that the core enemies (Elites, Jackals, and Grunts) haven't been meaningfully added to over the whole Bungie series is telling. Still fantastic games though, just with missed potential.
