  • Why should you appoint an Attorney when preparing a Will? In this video, I’m going to explain the two types of attorney in Scotland and why they are useful to put in place when writing your Will.
You will find the following information useful when considering your own Will and who you may want to be an attorney, and which type of attorney you’d like them to be, or if you’ve been asked to be an attorney whether you want to take on the role.
To speak to one of our team of friendly solicitors about why a Power of Attorney may be appropriate for you, follow the link below to fill out a contact form and we will call you back to discuss your particular requirements.

When writing a Will your solicitor may also ask you if you want to appoint an attorney. An Attorney is someone you appoint to make decisions and manage your affairs on your behalf where illness or injury prevents you from doing so yourself.
In Scotland, there are two parts to a Power of attorney; a continuing, or financial part and a welfare part. You can put in place either one or both of these.

Did Charlie Munger and Warren Buffett pioneer the strategy of investing when the market is low and high? Warren Buffet noted that he has observed this pattern frequently throughout his life. Personally, my wife and I have always earned a middle-class salary, yet we plan to retire at 58 with a $4 million stock portfolio. Surprisingly, we have never sold a single share of stock.

I've been following a similar approach, ensuring IRS compliance by having all my income invested in stocks. However, I prefer not to handle the work myself. Instead, I invest through an advisor who handles stock selection. This way, my money grows, and I enjoy tax benefits.
