    I've been watching a lot of blacksmithing and knifemaking videos on youtube lately, and I've been pretty consistently surprised and impressed by knifemakers, both in terms of what they make and how they work. Rarely do you see a group of people with such a combination of respect and enthusiasm for a craft, and such a commitment to quality, learning, and improvement.

      This is very true Matthew Groves. I think the trade really evokes a strong sense of pride and independence that pushes makers to at least strive for excellence.

    I used to make knives in Australia. And then I had a motorbike accident which left me paralysed. I am back in India now. This video of yours has inspired me to pick up that hobby again. I just placed and order for a 2x36 sander and a Bosch Angle grinder. I shall start a new project about sometime next week and show you my results. I will gave to just use an old grill with a hole on the side for a blower for heat treatment. Tempering will take place in the oven. If it isn't too difficult to do it on the wheelchair, I might think of investing in better equipement. Thank you!

    Btw the “holes” you put into the tang to reduce weight was called a “fuller”, or at least I think it is

    • @FlatRiverKnives
      @FlatRiverKnives  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Joe_the_squid, thank you sir. I can see how that could be considered a fuller, since it’s used to reduce weight. I’ve always associated fullers with the blade though, not the tang.
