This song alone could make for a very good argument as to why "Humbug" could be considered an even sexier album than "AM' or even the sexiest album Alex has ever created!
Honestly, this song is probably the best ever written about temptation and mistakes. It's so sinister, and if the vibe isn't seductive enough the lyrics are just. Brilliant. Best AM song ever. Why do more people not appreciate this.
"watching his exit is like falling off the ferry in the night" and then the crazy bass filler... probably my favourite part of any arctic monkeys song :)
This is by far my favorite song on Humbug. Despite the other songs being released as singles and getting more attention, this song went without a doubt overlooked.
Amazing song. It gives me emotions I can't describe. It's wonderful. Arctic Monkeys are great musicians not only for rude rock'n'roll and this is the evidence.
I think Humbug is excellent, but it represents a musical style completely different than that of the Arctic Monkeys' beginning. If you listen to that album first and then to their earlier ones, it's bound to seem odd. However, Whatever People Say & Favourite Worst Nightmare represent the brisky style that we had associated with the band since their beginning. That is their very essence. Humbug & Suck It And See are evolution; a brilliant evolution, of course.
Actually, I wasn’t super into Suck It and See. Black Treacle and Evil Twin are some of the best songs they’ve ever put out, but the rest of the album was just meh. This album is my favorite of theirs. Just picked it up on vinyl yesterday.
Fiendish wonder in the carnival's wake Though it caresses once again irritate Tread softly stranger Move over toward the danger THAT you seek You think excitement has receded And the mirror distracts The logic of the trance Quickly reaches and grasps Handsome and faceless And weightless, your imagination roams And now it's no ones fault but yours At the foot of the house of cards You thought you'd never get obsessed You thought the wolves would be impressed And you're a sinking stone But you know what it's like to hold the jeweler's hand That procession of pioneers all drowned In the moonlight they're more thrilling Those things that he knows As he leads you through the grinning Bubble blowers in the snow Watching his exit Is like falling off the ferry in the night The inevitables gather to push you around Any old voice makes a punishing sound He became laughter's assassin Shortly after he showed you what it was And now it's no ones fault but yours At the foot of the house of cards You thought you'd never get obsessed You thought the wolves would be impressed And you're a sinking stone But you know what it's like to hold the jeweler's hand That procession of pioneers all drowned If you've a lesson to teach me, I'm listening, ready to learn There's no one here to police me, I'm sinking in, until you return If you've a lesson to teach me, Don't deviate, don't be afraid Without the last corner piece I can't calibrate, Let's get it ingrained If you've a lesson to teach me, I'm listening, ready to learn There's no one here to police me, I'm sinking in, until you return If you've a lesson to teach me, Don't deviate, don't be afraid Without the last corner piece I can't calibrate, Let's get it ingrained If you've a lesson to teach me, I'm listening, ready to learn There's no one here to police me, I'm sinking in, until you return If you've a lesson to teach me, Don't deviate, don't be afraid Without the last corner piece I can't calibrate, Let's get it ingrained
The Arctic monkeys never fail to impress me every album has it own theme an style and wow if you are not a fan of arctic monkeys you will say that every song and album were sung by a different person but no that is just Alex turner singing 🖤
There is something in this album that makes it dark and gives me a mysterious energy the same energy is giving me life support by madison beer. You should definitely listen to it if this is your favorite album. Only my recommendation!
I like a lot especially of Dance little liar. This song blown my mind! but the whole album is amazing and fucking awesome! Josh Homme, I know you have to do with it! :)
Same here, a surprising treat. I can’t disagree, however, now you got me thinking, the game it would fit even better into would be Liberty City Stories. It actually sounds quite a bit like the theme song of LCS! (though it obviously wasn’t around in 98, when the game is set)
"Handsome and faceless and weightless your imagination runs."
this and secret door are so underrated:(
This song sounds like they worked very hard to compose it.
Yeah, very
FUCK YOU MAN stfu no one cares about your ratings
+José Pedro Martinez 😂😂😂
@@josepedrosilveiramartinez3436 problems in house?
Such a cool effect in the end, like the whole song breaks down like a house of cards in slo-mo.
soooooo goood
That outro takes me on a fucking trip every time.
same lol
So strange, fucked up, eerie, sexy and depressing all at the same time...... Hommes influence is everywhere here!!! What an amazing album.
this band omg, such a musical range
am I the only who thinks this could be a great James bond theme
This has such a mystical tone to it, I love it!
one of my favs too! Along with Crying Lightning, Dance Little Liar and The fire and the Thud.
"Was like falling off the ferry in the night" .. shivers.
This song alone could make for a very good argument as to why "Humbug" could be considered an even sexier album than "AM' or even the sexiest album Alex has ever created!
Anna Lynn I thought everyone knew that humbug is te sexiest album. I thought it was common knowledge.
I always thought that this album was covered in some sort of spite or bitterness for some reason, but I see why people could see it in the way you do.
I'd say that Alex's rather still dorkly looks, specially in comparison to AM's helped to propell the latter as sexier
Humbug is my husband.
+Kata Kálmán same
Humbug is my wife
A legjobb es a legsotetebb albumm, btw hellobello magyar kommentelo 🙌
Masterpiece.
Luis Romero All the Humbug
I can see this being a James Bond theme
Honestly, this song is probably the best ever written about temptation and mistakes. It's so sinister, and if the vibe isn't seductive enough the lyrics are just. Brilliant. Best AM song ever. Why do more people not appreciate this.
Best song ever from the most underrated album ever!
"watching his exit is like falling off the ferry in the night" and then the crazy bass filler... probably my favourite part of any arctic monkeys song :)
that bass at 2:05 omg :o
So hypnotic.
The entire album is underrated man. Humbug is one of the best albums ever made in my opinion.
will they ever release such a dark album like humbug?
May be
humbug best album...dance little liar most underrated song EVER
No
+AlexPrime9 My fav song by far...it saddens me how fanboyd love AM but they don't know about Humbug
+Abdou Benhmed Fanboys*
This is by far my favorite song on Humbug. Despite the other songs being released as singles and getting more attention, this song went without a doubt overlooked.
Absolutely disheartening that this album as a whole has so little views -- This is the definition of a hidden gem.
Amazing song. It gives me emotions I can't describe. It's wonderful. Arctic Monkeys are great musicians not only for rude rock'n'roll and this is the evidence.
Is it legal for the bass to sound that good xD?
The bass on this song breaks the spine while kicking ass !!

Very well put

4:12 is fucking amazing
Fiendish wonder in the carnival's wake
Though it caresses once again irritate
Tread softly stranger
Move over toward the danger THAT you seek
You think excitement has receded
And the mirror distracts
The logic of the trance
Quickly reaches and grasps
Handsome and faceless
And weightless, your imagination roams
And now it's no ones fault but yours
At the foot of the house of cards
You thought you'd never get obsessed
You thought the wolves would be impressed
And you're a sinking stone
But you know what it's like to hold the jeweler's hand
That procession of pioneers all drowned
In the moonlight they're more thrilling
Those things that he knows
As he leads you through the grinning
Bubble blowers in the snow
Watching his exit
Is like falling off the ferry in the night
The inevitables gather to push you around
Any old voice makes a punishing sound
He became laughter's assassin
Shortly after he showed you what it was
And now it's no ones fault but yours
At the foot of the house of cards
You thought you'd never get obsessed
You thought the wolves would be impressed
And you're a sinking stone
But you know what it's like to hold the jeweler's hand
That procession of pioneers all drowned
If you've a lesson to teach me,
I'm listening, ready to learn
There's no one here to police me,
I'm sinking in, until you return
If you've a lesson to teach me,
Don't deviate, don't be afraid
Without the last corner piece I can't calibrate,
Let's get it ingrained

Mi fav de este álbum, definitivamente sí 💕
7 am can't sleep, can´t listen to anything else
I could listen to the outro again and again and again. Mesmerising!
brilliant music. Great tune to trip
Very underrated song, one of the best on the album, tbh they're all really good lyrically and rhythm wise
HOLY HOLY THIS IS AMAZING I'M HOOKED AND TRANSFORMED :-)!! TOTAL MUSICAL ADORATION !!!
easily my favourite song from the humbug album... easily..
so haunting and beautiful
this boys are genius¡¡¡ and josh homme producing....

insanely goooood
Uma das musicas mais subestimadas de todos os tempos. One of the most underrated songs ever.
Sexiest bass of any song ever
reminds me so much of dance little liar
Hypnotic.
This is their greatest song ever
this is a very nice song, I'm glad my sister introduced it to me
Intro is very good) My favourite albums are Humbug, FWN and AM)
That little bass fill at 2:07 totally makes this song.
what a a fantastic track. they need to make more songs like this or maybe more experimental and electric even with long guitar solos.
Agreed! Also I support your profile pic lol
this album is one of the best i've ever purchased.
There is something in this album that makes it dark and gives me a mysterious energy the same energy is giving me life support by madison beer. You should definitely listen to it if this is your favorite album. Only my recommendation!
amazing
We feel me high! I, I, I... don't have words. I LOVE this, my wonderful song :)
How doesn't love this ending? If you've a lesson to teach me...

Minha favorita
3:32 to the end
I cant stop to listening 🤯🤯🤯
best song on the album
muak!! mi album preferido...
solid album
This album is the start of the Arctic Monkeys we know today, with a QOTSA feel to them. We could say Josh Homme is their second creator really haha.
Start and end, unfortunately, as the 2 albums since this masterpiece were garbage and completely lacked this stoner rock vibe.
Mr. B Well its not just stoner rock they were trying to make. Its indie/alternative too.
+Mr. B suck it and see was alright, AM what a load of shite (that ryhme)
when in the first time, people said humbug was the worst AM album.
but I think this album is a fucking gold.
@guitarguy16695 oh yeah, that bass is crazy :-) love it!
I like a lot especially of Dance little liar. This song blown my mind!
but the whole album is amazing and fucking awesome!
Josh Homme, I know you have to do with it! :)
The market pub speaks wise words
Feel the homme bearing down on you
the new album must be called the death ramps! it just has to be!
que linda cancionnnnnnnnnnnn
he plays the glockenspiel in this one vocals in 3 of the songs and produces all songs less 1,4,7
this song is euphoric as fuck
Low key wanna get high to this song or solve a crime whilst listening to it
Best song off Humbug, definitely.
I just wanted to tell you, I LOVE YOU ALL !! :D
"If you got lessons to teach me, I'm listening. Ready to learn!"
I don't know why, but that kinda "solo" that starts at 4:14 of the song, reminds me to the ending solo of High Hopes :P
If someone finds a good quality live version please share, I have not been able to and Im dying to listen to this one LIVE
this sounds so much like GTA IV
Gta IV is my favorite game ever I’m so happy to see a comment about it on such a great song!! You’re extremely right, it is very fitting for gta IV
Same here, a surprising treat. I can’t disagree, however, now you got me thinking, the game it would fit even better into would be Liberty City Stories. It actually sounds quite a bit like the theme song of LCS! (though it obviously wasn’t around in 98, when the game is set)
Love this song there for i shall post on my facebook page
I think this is the best song on Humbug
Why are there such few performances of this song?😔
yeah they should sing over cornerstone
"Secret Door" would have been a more appropriate track to end this album with.
+Susanna Powers this is appropriate too since its the longest track in there.
@brunoarpgg eu super concordo com voce! up up up up!!!!!
If You've A Lesson To TEAAACCCCHHH Me

@MrJembei Couldn't agree more
Feeling a "The Mars Volta" vibe sometimes, don't know why
Surely Dude!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;D
Will we ever hear something like this from them, what do you think people?
Again and again....
Its because Josh Homme Produced it :)
i like humbug to but nothing can bit whatever people say i'm that's i'm not
Finally, people understand me! :DD
OMG
Esse álbum foi o ápice do Arctic Monkeys
Sem dúvidas!

reminds a bit of "grey harpoon" by the coral
This is a kafka song
This reminds me of being psychotic buzzing
