  • If we do nothing now, future generations will lose the purity and unspoiled nature of the Pacific Islands. As the biggest employer and income earner in most South Pacific nations, the tourism industry has a responsibility to show leadership in the protection of our environment and communities we operate in. Akshay is an ivy-league educated professional who has dedicated his career to tourism in the Pacific Islands.
Passionate about the South Pacific and its rich social and cultural diversity and beauty, Akshay is also fascinated by renewable energy. He aims to inspire tourism businesses in the region to be more socially and environmentally conscious, and to create a pathway for sustainable tourism in the future. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

Well said Akshay, inspirational. I love the idea of a “sustainable champion” - and I’d love to see Fiji leading the charge.

Great speech and it's true and we need to bring awareness of the importance of taking care of our environment. But my question is, is he helping his country or his little town where he is from? I don't know if he mentioned that. I mean probably he is doing it. But that's something I wonder about. We should never forget where we came from.

Changing the conditions and making changes aren't the same thing...so, we need to adopt the moment than the conditions👍

Fake. A friend worked with you in the islands and you were awful to the employees.

WTH man. Just because your experience sucked & you have seen little to none parts of the country. Stop generalization. I can tell you 100s of places which look much better than the pics you showed
