  • In this video we look at a live intercept of E07 the English man numbers station from Russia.
This was recorded on Wednesday 4th May 2016
At 20:00 UTC, then again at 20:20 UTC.
We also learn something about the station and how its call up gives us an idea of the next frequency to be used.
    20:00 - 12166 kHz
    20:20 - 10766 kHz
    20:40 - 09266 kHz
    Call 172
If no message is included there is no third transmission at 20:40!

DDR had the same type of spyradio saying out number in the 1980's.
I had it recorded but no more have the tape.

Was it a small transmitter in a briefcase or a massive radio station that was seized From a legitimat radio station and modified for secret messages???.lol

Hi Eric, the transmissions we hear are no doubt sent from large government run facilities and embassies.

@@MikesMovies Hello, and thank you for your reply. Now that iam older, I can accept that.
My Father was an Amateur radio operator, he had a ham station that was massive. Back in the late 60's, my Father along with the rest of the Ham operators always thought the "Russian Woodpecker" was some sort of Spy operation and used to get angy because the signal that was transmitted always bled on a multitude of active ham stations. I can't recall what frequencies were affected by this, I think it was around the 40m Ham band??? I could be wrong.
Shortwave is certainly a World of unknowns, absolutely fun to explore.

+Leonard Vasquez LOL OK, the call is 172, look at each of the frequencies to be used. First one is 12.166mHz so there is your one, next is 10.766 mHz so there is your seven, last one 09.266 so there is your two. So if you happened upon any of the transmissions, you would know depending on time which way to tune to find the next. Does that help?

Armono Deluca With these scenarios, I like to apply the Infinite Monkey Theorem in which if an indefinite number of monkeys slam away at a keyboard, one will eventually type the complete works of Shakespeare. Same with these. Just keep going at em until someone gets it.

    • @nonyobussiness3440
      @nonyobussiness3440 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Dakota Loven can't it's one time use. The key changes everyday. From what I read the get a book. With the key. So let's say the numbers read are 723. Those correspond to other numbers. You then either add subtract the corresponding numbers from the read numbers and the resulting numbers match letters. In addition the messages are short most likely vague orders/info. Also the letters could stand for something we don't even know. For example let's say the let's are TOLAL. The spy might know it means go to the la lakers game etc. so basically the key changes daily and if we capture the spy he won't know the key so he can't even tell us what it means.

My take is that countries will continue to use old school tech because just about every new invention has serious privacy issues involved. Cellphones, laptops, desktops, tablets all have back doors "injested" into their systems. In other words, forget privacy, and that's for the average citizen. It's a wonder why anyone would want to use any of that junk because of this. As a ham, I can tell ya there are some very serious restrictions involved with shortwave, however, it remains the most private and intriguing of options. Curious topic isn't it. VY1 TG. Canada
