I think all the Historical outfits still come in nice boxes. What you are talking about are the mix and match collection. Those are usually the cheaper packaging,but with hangers.

That thing that you thought was for her braid in the set, is actually a belt I believe. I do agree the decal decorations should have been embroidered.
