Even Pavarotti himself has said that Jussi Björling is the best tenor of all time, and he, if anyone, should know. Pavarotti has also said that when he has to sing something new, he usually studies how Björling sings it.
I'm Norwegian, and Jussi is played a lot on Norwegian radio as well during Christmas. I'm not at all into opera, but to me, this is the ultimate Christmas song. I listen to this every Christmas. Reading about Jussi's life-story, the passion in his voice becomes even more compelling.
Björling died in 1960, only 49 years old. So his career was fairly short and ended more than 60 years ago but for "those in the know" or those who have done a little bit of digging his is one of the greatest voices.
O Holy Night, in Swedish-O helga natt ) is traditionally played every year on Swedish Radio P3 and P4 as the first melody after midnight on Christmas Eve, performed by the Swedish tenor Jussi Björling. .Not in the morning. Thank you for showing some of the best in Swedish domestic music. And in Sweden, we celebrate Christmas Eve on December 24 in the evening, then we eat food, and open presents and spend time with loved ones, all night long.
I truly believe he is the best tenor ever, with Benjamino Gigli a close second. We have also to remember that the recording equipment in those days was inferior to today's, which makes it more impressive. I also think that Jussi's recording with Robert Merrill of 'au fond du temple du saint' from the Pearl Fishers is magnificent
We forget how media has changed the availability of music. Jussi spent a long time performing in the US. Obviously well known in Sweden but with a smallish population.
Hi paul, IMO Jussi bjorling is the Best Tenor, I'm sure when you heard him sing, O Helga natt, for the first time. You kinda knew, bjorling can't be topped with this version. Rafa doesn't know much about opera. But he made a good point about, he thought the song was jussi bjorlings own song. That show's how good bjorlings amazing voice is. Try nessun dorma, called the slow version. He holds the note at the end for a long time. (1944). Great reactions from the both of you and your brother in law.👍👍👏👏👏🇮🇪...
This guy is supposed to be a singing teacher, but he knows absolutely nothing about, in this case, operatic tenors. He seems to have only heard of Bjorling and Pavarotti - ridiculous.

This is vocal perfection. Jussi is rightfully remembered as a legend.
Jussi Bjorling owns this Christmas song/carol. His voice is Phenomenal!!!🐐...
WOW!!! His voice is so powerful and dulcet, nobody can sing this Christmas song like Jussi Bjorling,💪👏👏👏🐐🇸🇪...
Bjoerling was brilliant, but there are other good recordings of this song.

Well, he toured the USA with his father and two brohers as a very young child, so he had a long carreer in spite of his premature death.

Jussis beautiful voice 🥰🥰 My grandmother just adored him and this reminds me of her.
No tenor has sung with such clarity and ease as Jussi Bjorling. He died tragically young in 1960. Rob Thomas.
Don't forget to listen to Björlings "Värmeland du sköna" and "Till Havs".
Just, perfection! And with a feeling, I have not heard in the other masters.

Bjorling is also a long breath singer. Listening again to pay attention to the breathing is worth your while.

Jussi is the best ever! Good choice! 🇸🇪

One of the fwe recordings of Jussi Björling. Wondeful❤❤❤
Another one of the greatest singers was the baritone Titta Ruffo. Extraordinary voice. His voice was described ny colleagues as a :miracle."
Hi ! Please listen to his Italian aria In La Boheme Che gelida manina.
The tenors of the 1920s 30 that era his voice resembles an Irish singer of the 40ies 50ies John McCormaç
Jussi Björling died 1960 at 49 years old. He was compared with Enrico Caruso!
Great Reactions Guys, to the Greatest Tenor Ever👍👏👏👏🇸🇪🇮🇪...
