The reason for the hole is because while das werk uses the molds from dragon they didn't get it directly from them, they were first sold to platz that reprinted them with extra parts and figurines from anime series were the kettenkrad appeared in, specifically in the girls last tour version along with the character figures on a separate runner there's some rucksacks and a water barell along with a side compartment attached to the left flank that filled that gap. Awesome kit if you're a fan of the show, even came with photoetch parts out of the box, too bad it's been discontinued now... luckly I got one when it first came out, they go for around 80/100$ now

Great looking review I have that kit. Dragon really made that kit well.👍they just didn't add the phone wire rolls on the back. If it's not that one it's the one with the canon. I might go and look through my kits and see.
I recently built this and my god those tracks they are meant to be workable but if you dont glue them they fall apart if you so much as look at them worng. Not nice, like you i thought it was a new kit not a old dragon one.
