Its refreshing to see a period piece that doesn't involve the concubines and empress at war with each other trying to kill each other and their children. Concubine Yue and the Empress are my favorite pair. They see each other as sisters and family rather than rivals and respect each other. I imagine them getting into all kinds of shenanigans together when they were younger lol

When Yue walk in, you know she is going to set it off. The minute she starts talking the emperor looks away like uh uh somebody is going to get it. She never disappoints. Zisheng be so proud of Cheng, he knows she will set it off also. I like how the emperor and Yule showed up with Zisheng in the middle, showed how special he is to them. Just as the Empress showed up by herself for Cheng, it showed how much she cares for her.
I love this drama. The trio of the Emperor, the Empress, and Concubine Yu - the quiet interactions between them, mostly with just the changes in their expressions, are a joy to watch. And I really like that the Emperor is a more reasonable and sympathetic character than is often portrayed in these dramas. Not quite so much of the "Off with his/her head!" attitude.
The subtle sign of support from the male lead and the
quiet response from the female lead in taking his arm speak volumes of the artistic wonder of this episode.

My favorite scene with Concubine Yue and the Empress pairing up to defend Naio Naio it was a thing of beauty. They let Naio check them fool women in a clear and concise manner. I was a happy she spoke up and defended her man and his true family! The emperor let it rip and then in the end the old bitty not only lost her place in palace, but her husband in the process. The other lady she also got what she deserved. I bet she wished she kept her mouth shut. When concubine Yue said what she said and whipped around and gave them the "Say Something" death stare I hollered!😆🤔😱🤬😁

I can not stop watching this every thing about the entire series was perfection but when they had the Emperor and Empress and Concubine Yue in the same scenes it was magic. What all of these idiots either choose to ignore or just didn't get it was how much the Emperor and Empress loved these two people. They wanted them to be together. Our favourite general said it right at the beginning he will only be with one woman and if he fails to find her then he will stay alone all his life. He met her and was already intrigued but the lantern festival cemented it he fell hook line and sinker for his woman. No one else would ever do.

In one scene, we got a wedding, a divorce, a verbal and physical assault (Consort Ruyang screaming at and beating on her husband, Uncle Wen), a tender moment when Consort Yue decides to enter the fray and SS discreetly and gently tucks herself into her groom's side, a house arrest ("no reason to leave your residence anymore") which the guards will ensure, a pity party (Consort Ruyang screaming "you're all picking on me" as if she's a 3 year old child), and an exile to the temple under armed guard under the guise of "dispatch more men to take good care of her" meaning extra guards are to be assigned to ensuring Consort Ruyang doesn't escape the Temple grounds, doesn't cause any trouble in the palace or city, and isn't heard from in any way. I would have liked to see Uncle Wen and the Emperor toasting Uncle Wen's newfound freedom from his viperous wife.
