- Patriotic Alliance deputy president Kenny Kunene is one of the eight new Joburg council members appointed under the leadership of new mayor Thapelo Amad. Kunene says he will soon announce plans for his Transport and Roads portfolio that he's set to lead.

This is a joke. There should be a academic requirement for councillors at least minimum a honours degree/ public administration degree like you would be expected to have in any director or executive position.
Councillors should also complete set amount of hours doing community service.
Most politicians are educated like cyril Ramaposa and Gwede mantashe, but the country is in worse situations, its not a degree that can carry a country, they are told by a US what to do.
@@musamkhize9328 there’s a difference between national and local governments. A councillor in municipal government is the same as a board member in a company and those who are MMCs are the same as the executive board of a company.
If the private sector wouldn’t allow a person who isn’t a technocrat, the same should be applied in local government.
There should be professional competence in level of management & governance and Ramaphosa isn’t a barometer on whether educated professionals are good at governance.
