& kept threatening her with “do you not want to get married”… well maybe not after this trauma

The 'we are going to have an arguement' line he said at 13.04 is a huge red flag. My narc ex said this all the time, and it was always my fault! I'd run if I were here, he doesn't seem supportive just expecting her to bend to his will.

Hording is generally a result of deep psychological issues. Usually it's a case of some form of trauma from the horder's past, which results in a need to have "control". That need manifests itself in hording. Forcing a horder to sell their material possessions and giving their home a makeover is like putting a band-aid over a gaping wound. It's solving nothing. It's a short term buzz and the hording behavioral patterns will soon return in spades.
Ultimately, a decent therapist would have solved a lot more than a pre-packaged reality television show.

Literally, none of this helped her shopping addiction. This is literally the worst thing you could do to someone that has an addiction.

First thing stuck with me when learning about hoarders is that getting rid of stuff won't help and may have the opposite effect on the people.
Therapy is the only right way.
Edit to add: getting rid of stuff without real consent, as it happened here in my opinion.

@@angelikalaser7778 I totally agree. A home makeover does not fix addiction. I hope she gets the therapy she needs.

The interior designer doesn’t understand hoarding even a bit. Her actions are counterproductive and I bet, that the young woman went straight to hoarding again, the minute they left the house. It has nothing to do with how pretty the home design is, hoarding is a mental condition/illness of (mostly) very sensitive people and this hoooray approach is a catastrophe for every hoarder. Doesn’t help at all, if anything, it makes it all worse.

Not really. My sister hoarded shopped we had to force her because she fell and we couldn't walk around to care for her. We loaded it up . Gone ❤

Made me feel so sorry for poor Amy. 😢
I experienced same with a relative, she was shamed and pressured into purge half her stuff. She ended up filling the house up again and then some and getting bitter towards the "helpers"

Clearly the intention is to provide 'entertainment' rather than to charge behaviour.
It's the equivalent of removing all the alcohol from the home of an alcoholic and thinking that will stop them drinking.

After that emotional pressure, the wedding would look like the last thing I would want. These people have ZERO understanding for Amy and her emotional state,This is the WORST thing you can do to a hoarder.
And the remodel is just too dark for such small spaces. Not worth all her lost clothes :D.

"I'm a vegetarian." "Amie's a vegetarian and I've put a cow on the floor." Sums up what is wrong with the entire show: Amie is a "problem" and so just a passive participant in her own life. Put that marriage on hold and sort out your issues, please, for the sake of yourselves, your future marriage, your future children. Dear Designer: slow down, pick up the people on the route, play nicely together.

I don't understand why people buy so much clothing, i have stuff from twenty year's ago i still wear, jeans especially. I will wear my stuff until it's worn out, i will even do some sewing , and then i just use them for shop rags when they aren't good enough to go out in public. G-d bless.

And I don’t understand why someone drinks alcohol, smokes, swims across the Atlantic… We all are different and I personally understand Amy much better than someone who let’s say is an alcoholic or likes adrenaline sports or whatever… We all are different human beings with different emotions and different opinions on pretty much everything around us.

Yep .... one day people will realize it doesn't take an abundance of items to live or to be happy.
I learned that lesson in 2011.
      Best year of my life.

I dont know if shopping ruins a relationship i have never in my life neen taken on a shopping trip nut i would imagine it is fantastic but only if u can afford to do so i often have walked by the stores or looked at the beautiful watches or earrings nut as soon as they spot u window shopping they are right at you and as soon as u say i can not afford that they are cruel people to you
