Many of those run-down neighborhoods in Detroit have e been that bad for the last 50 years. Many of them ( even with some of those homes either being torn down or rehabilitated) will probably stay in the same condition 50 years from now. Most of Detroit's building and renovation boom is happening downtown- from the riverfront, north to New Center.
Yeah ... imagine waking up fearful Christmas morning. Sneaking out to the living room. Mom sleeping under the Christmas tree with a new black eye and bleeding from the mouth. Oh wait .... that wasn't Detroit. That was my house ...... my bad.
There are giant swaths of the city that look like this and people will still say "Detroit is coming back". Outside of their downtown and midtown, I don't see any improvements anywhere.
Just because it isn’t great now doesn’t mean it’s not getting better. There are a lot of Neighborhoods that look much better today then it did just 5 years ago. Still far from a great city but it’s better today than it was just a couple years ago. Also Detroit just recorded the lowest homicide rate since the 70s so I think that’s something.
Merry Christmas everyone. When I see these abandoned homes, I think of at one time families prepared for Midnight Mass and gathered for Christmas dinner later in the day.
I say as long as there is life there is hope so let's not abandon the only thing we have "hope" and "Faith". Don't look at this and be sad, no. Look at this and pray. Pray for better days because it is a promise that your latter days will be better and much greater than your former days.
Detroit always cloudy. I lived in Detroit for a few years would ride my bike around all these abandoned buildings, never had an issue though. Grew up in MI
Bengali have unlimited free money to rebuild the area. I never see any building permits. They pay cash for the property and they don't pay property insurance.
Thank you Mr. Charlie I used to work in neighborhoods like this in Chicago. Some areas with beautiful interiors with craved mahogany woodwork, multiple custom marble fireplaces with ornate carvings - and then many with all of that “removed” by thieves or thugs. Lots of thugs around of course, but also, some of the kindest people I ever met just trying to survive on the daily. I am thankful for what I have and thankful for the kind people and friends I have met along the way. This reminds me of that. Thank you brother.
Merry Christmas Everybody. Dang, it's Sad to see the city I grew up in, have all these vacant homes. It's literally whole city block no houses or all of them burned out. 😢
My grandparents moved to Southern California in the 70s they said Detroit was a beautiful city and saw the signs of it starting to go downhill. I was born in Southern California and I’m trying to get my kids out of here before it looks like this.
Not much holiday cheer around, is there? Blame bad management on the part of GM for a lot of this. Incredible someone's rebuilding that burned out house at the beginning of the video. Other places that are fixed up are still in the middle of junk. Most roads are terrible. Depressing, to say the least.
Back in the 80s and 90s Detroit was a nice city to visit as a kid . I don't know what went wrong the neighborhoods wasn't looking like this back in the day
naw its not,His Bu m m as chose to just clip in all the bad streets ..that makes up 10% of the city homes thats still in those conditions, like any other city.
Love your videos bro, but you may want to start labeling and categorizing your videos into a playlist by location because its getting hard to find specific ones at this point from how many youve dropped. It will definitely help your views when people want to see their hometowns.
The old ‘find the blocks in Detroit with burnt out and damaged homes plus plenty of vacant weed high lots and video them and make others in think the whole city is a mess’ trick. 😂 This practice will never grow old.
Let's go through the worst of a city and make it seem like everywhere is like this. Detroit has not only a downside but is beautiful and vibrant also. Shame on you.
America is a shithole. Of course some parts will be nicer than others to keep the proud fools who call America "home" from realizing they actually live in an open air prison. Shame on you for being so clueless and loving a big liethat you continue to perpetuate to future generations.
0:20-22 Interesting new construction that is integrating an old house into a new house... Don't see that too often anywhere... Charlie should revisit that place to see the ongoing progress...
Except for the zip code, how is this different from Philadelphia. Atlanta. St Louis. Seattle. LA. And many, many dozens of big AND small towns. What are you mad about??
Wow so sad how some people will spend Christmas this year. I suppose though that each in our own way we are happy for what we have. I can only imagine the wonderful celebrations that must have gone in some of those now vacant times. As usual Charlie the videos are great thank you for showing them all through 2024 and I look forward to more in 2025. Merry Christmas to all and have a wonderful New Year everyone!
With a 25'X75' garden I provide yearly 80% of food for a family of four....in the same climate. I see a tremendous opportunity for community gardens peeps.
To live in an environment like this has to be depressing and at times unbearable. Merry Christmas and stay safe to everyone in Detroit.🎁🎅🙏🎄
Winter makes the hoods look even more depressing
I moved from Michigan to Arizona 28 years ago. Can't take the bad weather and grey skies
So true
Winter months are evil.
@@CasinoMan2005 Winter mocks the weak.
@@shidoin5398I bet that was the best move you ever made....
Something tells me that it looks like this all year round, regardless of holidays.
I think you're right.
Perfect backdrop for a post apocalyptic movie.
I kept waiting to see zombies moseying about.

Detroit look depressing just like Mississippi....
I'm sure alot of Christmas memories were once had in those homes. Merry Christmas everyone. 🎅
bro ppl still live there
Yeah ... imagine waking up fearful Christmas morning. Sneaking out to the living room. Mom sleeping under the Christmas tree with a new black eye and bleeding from the mouth.
Oh wait .... that wasn't Detroit. That was my house ...... my bad.
Even Santa Claus don't wanna come to Detroit
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone ❤️😊

Thank you and same to you.😊
MERRY CHRISTMAS 🎄🎄🎄
i love what theyve done with the place
There are giant swaths of the city that look like this and people will still say "Detroit is coming back". Outside of their downtown and midtown, I don't see any improvements anywhere.
Exactly filthy city....

Well, it does look like they're rebuilding that one house at the beginning of the video.
citizens of detroit: no christmas activities here, dont rob us
Merry Christmas CharlieBo and everyone who see this 🎄
Greetings from Brazil 🇧🇷👍🏿
Detroit has looked like that without all the holidays.
Haunting...like Flint.
Gotta love diversity
It's often difficult to tell the difference between houses which are abandoned and those which are still occupied.
🎶" Santa Claus go str8 to the Ghetto"🎶
That's how the hood looks every day...
Merry Christmas everyone❤️😊❤️😘
Bullshit! No it does not, Detroit is a huge city & this is a small crap part im from detroit.
In my mind it will always be silver Christmas tree and a shiny Schwinn bike...big D was beautiful then!
We had an aluminum Christmas tree too. Had a green ball on the end of the branches. Wasn't Christmas without it.
Merry Christmas everyone. When I see these abandoned homes, I think of at one time families prepared for Midnight Mass and gathered for Christmas dinner later in the day.
In the hood Santa steals your presents.

I wish I had the white convertible on the street 1:30
OH NO Its okay its looks like that all the time....
I could NEVER will NEVER && Won’t NEVER 👎 that’s poverty at its best 🗑️
It definitely has a depressing vibe to it I’ve always say Detroit and Camden are very similar just a lot bigger
Merry 🎉 Christmas 🎄🎁 God bless 🎁⛄⛄⛄⛄⛄ 2025
It's So Cold in da D
Damp and cold
Muthafukkas just wanna make peace
Detroit always cloudy. I lived in Detroit for a few years would ride my bike around all these abandoned buildings, never had an issue though. Grew up in MI
Detroit felt Oppression leading up to '67 . Now it is Depressing since then 😞
Just another day in the Ghettos of The Motor City of Detroit . Merry Christmas anyway to ya .
Thanks!
Seasons greetings from Detroit, America's comeback city!
Hahahahahahah
The only thing that came back in 30 years is downtown as the rest of the city rotted!
Not even the ghosts of former residents are there !'😮
They are afraid, too!
😂😂😂
Merry Christmas everyone.
Detroit everyday is a festive happy holiday place. Just look at all the gift wrapping laying about.
I m from MI look like this is 6 miles road
Merry Christmas to everyone!
That is interesting what they're doing at the 0:20 mark. Are they building a home and trying to preserve that wall?
Yes. That's happening all over the city these days.
Bengali have unlimited free money to rebuild the area. I never see any building permits. They pay cash for the property and they don't pay property insurance.
Merry Krampus in Detroit

20 year's ago it wasn't that bad.
20 years ago...AMERICA wasnt that bad
Incredible job, you always bring the best stuff.

Give them homes to migrants

If I was there I put all kinds of Xmas 🎁 🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌴 lights happy new year 🎊🎊🎊🕛
Merry Christmas, which other Midwestern cities does Detroit have the most in common with? I would say a cross between Chicago and Cleveland.
🙄 this is certainly NOT how ALL of #Detroit looks during the holidays.
Why speeds bumps on empty dilapidated blocks waste of money
This area looks like it's not that bad I grew up in a area similar to this in Baltimore and it wasn't that bad.
naw its not,His Bu m m as chose to just clip in all the bad streets ..that makes up 10% of the city homes thats still in those conditions, like any other city.
Try comparing this shithole to a NICE place, not another shithole 🙄
This help me go to sleep fr

Detroit is in a sad state
Just so festive!
The 'Freedom ' of America ... lovely 😉
My Hometown 😎😎😎
Is it really like that. Oh my goodness. Merry Christmas one and all 🎄 🤶🏿 🎄
The old ‘find the blocks in Detroit with burnt out and damaged homes plus plenty of vacant weed high lots and video them and make others in think the whole city is a mess’ trick. 😂 This practice will never grow old.
I lived on Detroit blvd in Sacramento as a kid. I drove down the block today.
Every street looks exactly the same. Depressing
Sure on this post. Quite a few neighborhoods (not just downtown) are being upgraded.
Let's go through the worst of a city and make it seem like everywhere is like this. Detroit has not only a downside but is beautiful and vibrant also. Shame on you.

This isn’t the Detroit best picnic locations channel he’s recording places that otherwise wouldn’t be seen on here
Man… cold world

Charlie should revisit that place to see the ongoing progress...
Fantastic footage. Just saw some of this in person myself.
I've only been to Detroit once, 25 years ago. There was trash everywhere. Every square inch had trash, 25 years later it looks the same.
What did you think it would look like DisneyLand?
Except for the zip code, how is this different from Philadelphia. Atlanta. St Louis. Seattle. LA. And many, many dozens of big AND small towns. What are you mad about??

THATS MOST DEMOCRATIC RAN CITIES IN THE USA
With a 25'X75' garden I provide yearly 80% of food for a family of four....in the same climate. I see a tremendous opportunity for community gardens peeps.
Thanks and yes, there's urban farming appearing all over the city these days.
Detroit es Disney comparado con Gonzales Catan
Very charming
Just as many beautiful homes in Detroit.
Where's Gold's pawn shop?😊
Looks like they need to be introduced to lawn mowers!
This is how Detroit looks everyday. Misleading title.... But you already knew that...
Ужас.Какой бардак😮😮😮
