    Thank you for being honest on the second repot when you said in a few months rather than in a couple weeks or a month. I’ve been growing aloe Vera for a couple of years and I love when people say it a fast growing plant. Yeah for a tree it might be fast but for something like tomatoes where you can have a 6 foot plant in 3 months it’s nots so fast. Do you know of a way to make an aloe Vera hand sanitizer. If so we need that like we need the ☀️

    • @TheAloeVeraGarden
      @TheAloeVeraGarden  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thank you very much. Aloe vera grows slow, it takes about 2 to 3 years to reach its average full size. To make a hand sanitizer, you need a 97% to 99% grade alcohol, not the low grade 40% or 70% alcohol mostly available in stores. Dilute the alcohol with aloe vera gel and then thicken it. I'd probably make a video on this.

    A few more questions please. Why do you repot so many times instead of jumping a size or two each time and saving your labor and time? How do you get yours to grow so many pups? In the last year, my two plants have grown a total of one pup between them. I am in the Sonoran Desert where tomorrow we are supposed to hit 122°F, 3% humidity. They are each medium-sized in about a 1.5 gal plastic pot, well draining. They get morning sun, top of the day shade, and late afternoon sun again. They are growing fine since I got them, but just not making babies.
    What would you suggest I do, change, or improve to make them grow pups? Thank you so much for your help!

I saw some at home depot that come in 3.5" grower pots which are rather small. Will they grow to be like yours? Also is it bad to go directly to a large pot?

    • @ujmabano6024
      @ujmabano6024 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Good question .
      If the aloe vera is directly poted in the biggest pot, then aloe vera plant will will not be able to all the nutrients into the soil, and the nutrients will be drained out to with rain and water .
      That's why we should put the aloe vera plant in an adequate size of pot so that the nutrients should not be wasted without utilisation.

    • @TheAloeVeraGarden

      You don't need to water the plant frequently indoor because the soil don't dry fast unlike outdoor. Also, don't place your plant in a dark place in the house. Porch and terrace are better options if you can't place it outdoor. As much as possible, give it sunlight. Aloe vera plant needs sunlight.

    • @TheAloeVeraGarden
      @TheAloeVeraGarden  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Awesome! Thank you! It's also very hot where I live. Don't worry about your Aloe Vera, It is a very resilient plant. It's normal for the leaves to get thin if they are newly planted. Give them time to recover, maybe a little more than a month, they will bounce back to having green and thick leaves.

    If i start with a big container. Any problem ?

    • @TheAloeVeraGarden
      @TheAloeVeraGarden  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I started with a small container because I need to save space and soil. Using big container for a small Aloe vera pup is a waste of resources for me specially the soil. The soil nutrients will not be consumed by the plant but will be drained away by water the during rain and when you water the plant. Also, the plant grow taller in time and you will have a leggy Aloe vera if you don't repot it. Repotting from a bigger pot is quite a challenge without disturbing the roots of the plant. As show in the video, it is very much easier to repot with smaller pots. But if it is convenient for you to start with a bigger pot, then you can. Happy planting. :)

      Yes, you can plant them directly on bigger pot. I don't have much space and soil so I gradually plant them in smaller to bigger pot. Also, planting aloe vera in bigger pot is also a waste of soil nutrients because it will just be flushed out by water.

    • @TheAloeVeraGarden

      It's been five years, but I have given more than half of it. Aloe Vera propagate exponentially. Remember your 16 pups will give you another 16 each in just a few months... and so on.. It may be quite slow in the beginning and then you'll be surprised one morning the you don't have space for them anymore. I only started with 5 Aloe Vera.

      I just use ordinary soil for my Aloe Vera and if I have available special soil, that would be from compost. Here's a video on that: th-cam.com/video/6vWOFJtinmw/w-d-xo.html
      Those black soft plastic nursery pots are bought from garden stores. Are you from the Philippines? They are available in ACE Hardware in SM stores, CITI Hardware garden section. They are also available in stores selling plastic pots. They are cheap and very affordable. Depending on the size from 3 pesos to 45 pesos. I just noticed though during this pandemic that the prices are up drastically and the quality is not the same anymore - so bad.
