    I was just looking online at what a Japanese knot bag was, as I was just introduced to it, and I wanted to make one in satin for an event, and I died laughing at the end. May I say you are a very thorough teacher, and so adorable with your video.

    Hi Sheryl. I have made many of your projects and enjoy your videos. My question for the Japanese Knot bag is, if I make the square larger than 11"X11" should I make the handles longer or leave them at 10 1/2" and 4 1/2". Thank you.

    • @TheSewingRoomChannel
      @TheSewingRoomChannel  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi JoAnne. It should be okay to make the handles the same size. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing. 😍

    Hi, Sherrill! I'm new to sewing and I'm so thankful I happened upon your videos! You explain everything simply and are very easy to follow along with (which I need! LOL!]. I have a quick question for you - Do you recommend prewashing 100% cotton fabrics before starting the Japanese Knot bag project (or any other projects)? Thank you! 😁

    • @TheSewingRoomChannel
      @TheSewingRoomChannel  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Julia. Yes, you should pre-wash cotton fabrics. Before washing do a zigzag stitch on the raw edges of the fabric. This will prevent the fabric from unraveling during the wash/dry cycle. Hope this helps. Merry Christmas, and happy sewing 😍

    • @julialebeda766

    Hi Sheryl! Question. Have you ever considered doing a video on “pinning”? There are so many different kinds and I sometimes have trouble getting a hem to stay when pinned. It wants to unfold even with the pin in it. I also struggle on which direction to place them. I don’t know how to use all the different sized pins and which type of project they are to be used for.

    • @mangot589
      @mangot589 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Seems simple but isn’t, huh? But I use long pins, quilters, with flat heads, for everything. Of course, I don’t sew like this lol.

    Wonderful idea. Looking for bag pattern to make for Child Services. Children get pulled out if their homes with nothing to put their belongings in except trash bags. ( What message does that send?). Something like that, but bigger, with pockets will be great! Thanks for sharing.

    I have a question. Instead of cutting slits in the bottom of the bag, could you just use pinking shears? Or would that cut too deep? Thank you!

    • @TheSewingRoomChannel
      @TheSewingRoomChannel  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can try it but don't cut the seam width too short. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing. 😍

  • @eileenmeyers6080
    @eileenmeyers6080 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Would it work to leave the opening in the lining instead of in the handles?

    • @TheSewingRoomChannel
      @TheSewingRoomChannel  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, but make sure the ends of the handles are not stitched together until after the bag is turned right (front) side out. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing. 😍
