    sephiroth is NOT a good guy. He is a tragic villain. That last night in the Inn when he said goodnight to Zakk was the last time we saw him ever truly in control of his own faculties. Everything he did after that was heavily influenced if not completely dominated by Jenova. That's why it seemed like he went from "good guy" to "villain" as if someone flipped a switch. Because someone did. He was a good guy, but regardless of whether he was being manipulated or not, everything after burning the village and killing everyone makes him a villain. It's just sad the way it happened because he had potential to be a good person. It's really good writing in my opinion.

    Hes giving anakin vibes. Started as a hero, then saw the influence and processes of his higher ups and it influenced him with power. Same with sephiroth. Started as a hero, got influenced by hojo and became a war killing machine

    The new trailer with the younger Angeal may be material that did not make the cut in Crisis Core which was not financially feasible to implement in Crisis Core with the UMD. I definitely think we could end up getting another Part to First Soldier whereas in Chapter 9 and 10, we begin to see the story shift in a transition from Glenn, Matt, and Lucia to mainly just Sephiroth, with his new found friends Angeal and Genesis. I think we will get some resolution of what Glenn, Matt, and Lucia are doing from this point on as they will part ways with Sephiroth and remain in Wutai; the rest of their story will be told in Remake Part 3. I'm thinking we could get a First Soldier Episode II with potentially another 10 chapters which will focus on Sephiroth, Angeal, and Genesis's time together with the possibility of even seeing a younger Zack and his story of joining Shinra just as we got Cloud's story of how he joined.
    That content would basically be the missing link of Crisis Core minus Before Crisis which many of us are dying to see. I think these last two chapters really aroused a lot of excitement in the community of course with the sour feelings of why is this info relegated to a mobile game? (Of course development costs is one reason and it's a good vehicle to test new content in expanding the FF7 universe).
    The Sephiroth conundrum of being not inherently good or evil makes him a very interesting shade of gray. The question will be how will he react if he finds out Jenova is not really his mother but Lucrecia is. I trust Nomura and Kitase to come up with a very good way to tie up the trilogy, but even with the world work of Rebirth laid out, part 3 has a lot of new story beats that they will have to address and could potentially be bigger than Rebirth. There is a stream May 29th of what is coming to Ever Crisis soon and it seems very big, so I think it would be something you would definitely want to see. I have a feeling it will be addressing everything I mentioned above and possibly then some.

      Well if you think about it, square has kinda backed themselves into a corner with making sephiroth semi-immortal. I really see 3 outcomes here. Either cloud dies/sacrifices himself so seph cant return, or has a redemption arc, or maybe aerith fixes the situation somehow. Thats bout it.

    I think that what could of happened, is that when Sephiroth was in the lifestream, he got rid of his humanity. So what you see for most of the game is an empty husk, that's mostly Jenova, with no more humanity or memories. But what if his humanity that he rejected, actually manifested, and is now at the edge of creation, reflecting on his past? So in a sense, a part of himself is still the most "evil" even if mostly Jenova at this point. But the true Sephiroth is now free of Jenova, and maybe wants to make things right.

    Before I started playing Crisis Core last year, I had the opinion that he is just a really a cool villain, but that's all. Never really paid any attention to that fact that he actually was a hero before Nibelheim.
    But then when I played Crisis Core my perception shifted. My compassion towards him grew. Now I see him as one of the most tragic characters in this game, which to me, is a very good thing. Everything they are doing with his character (at least until now) is so enriching.
    And I don't really get why there is so much hate among people when it comes to a redemption arc. Redemption doesn't have to be like the return of good guy Sephiroth. But one that is ready to dissolve into the Lifestream and die. He has done (will do) the most evil stuff ever, yes. But he has also done a lot of good stuff in the past, saved a lot of people. And let's be honest, most of the characters in this game are having blood on their hands. So why is he the only one not allowed to have a redemption?

    • @zackkeogh3515
      @zackkeogh3515 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Because it's debatable to what extent these characters actually do have blood on their hands. Not only do we see that Shinra killed all those people during the reactor bombings, while outwardly agreeing that they can't stop in their fight against Shinra, Jessie goes behind Barret's back to pick out a weaker blasting agent to minimize the harm caused in future attacks. We go even further into the amateurish, but goodhearted intent of Avalanche HQ in all this. Sonon and Yuffie even go onto having a learning moment that the people of Midgar themselves aren't the enemy, it's just Shinra.
      Sephiroth kills Cloud's mother right in front of him and then later taunts him over it. He kills Tifa's father, slices her good, and then Jenova and he use their powers to delude Cloud into believing that he really was the SOLDIER there all along. Cloud swears he'll never forget Zack and the cruel twist is that to a certain extent Cloud kind of thinks he was Zack for a substantial part of the story. Cloud is confronted with his own shame and terrible truth of his past and rises above it in the end. Sephiroth is confronted with his and goes in the completely opposite direction, making him nuts and misguided in the end undoes that and gives nothing for the main character to contrast himself off of. Nomura's whole schtick of Kojiro vs Musashi being the base vibe of Cloud vs Sephiroth is just meaningless at that point.
      We already got the "Sephiroth redemption," through Kadaj returning to the Lifestream at the end of AC. I don't know why Sephiroth teaming up with Genesis and Angeal in the final boss gauntle of the third game to rid the world of Jenova does anyone any favors when this is Cloud's story in the end. It'd be like Ultimecia realizing the error of her ways and showing up at the Garden party at the end of VIII to make amends. She compressed all of time into a singular point out of her fear of the past and how it could affect her future. Squall learned to ive in the moment, not dwell on the past, and to not let the good things in life pass him by as a result. You undo that with a sympathetic, redeemed villain. Stories like VII and VIII completely fall apart when you redeem the villain. That's why these characters aren't allowed to have a redemption.

    • @nikahaziny
      @nikahaziny 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @zackkeogh3515 Sephiroth never deluded Cloud to think he was the SOLDIER in nibelheim idk where you got that from, that was because of Cloud's trauma and the Jenova cells in him.
      And you're forgetting a key factor, Cloud had Tifa and his friends to help him, Sephiroth had nobody, he was alone in the shinra manor reading for a whole week without even sleeping. He was vulnerable and that made it easy for Jenova to get into his head, in Rebirth they even show it to us before he says "i should go, mother is waiting" you can clearly see the moment Jenova takes over. I know about the whole Sephiroth is in control thing but they're clearly changing it in the remakes or they wouldn't have expanded Jenova this much.

    • @patrickleblanc613
      @patrickleblanc613 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@nikahazinytheres actually an interesting theory about sephiroth going around now, that the sephiroth we see plagueing cloud and company, the evil seph, is different from the human sephiroth, the one supposedly at the edge of creation. Im actually starting to wonder if a page is being taken out of dragon ball lore for this one, what with the nameless namekian spliting himself into kami(good half) and piccolo(evil half).

    • @jacksonstubbs2999
      @jacksonstubbs2999 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @patrickleblanc613 the sephiroth that we see throughout the game isn't him, it's jenova. Sephiroth at the edge of creation knows that jenova is the main villain they need to stop. But he's also a villain but can enact his plan because of jenova

  • @ETHomerin
    @ETHomerin 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

    I'd have to say that what happened with Rosen shows that Sephiroth is totally screwed, Jenova or not. If this were real life, whether or not Sephiroth's intentions were benign or malevolent, there could only be one thing left. A monster. He received no parental love, but was groomed to be a killer. His role models were President Shinra, Hojo, Heidegger, and Scarlet. And now he has learned that killing is an act of salvation. Plus he eventually murders the main character's mother. lol he ain't gonna be no good guy...

      @@ETHomerin I didn't mean to be rude, but you really missunderstand the character. Nomura stated Sephiroth was pure. He didn't want to kill Rosen, he literally cried. But he was forced because that's what Rosen wanted and Glenn, Matt and Lucia would of never left the island without Rosen, and they would of all died. He was human, he had feelings and empathy. He was nowhere near being a monster. Also saying that Hojo was his role model..... just no. Bro HATES Hojo. He experimented on him and probably hurt him multiple times.

    • @loregasmic
      @loregasmic 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @bonni4493 I'd say he was a blank slate at that point in time. Glenn and his team were influencing him to be more human and empathetic, he started out the mission being pretty cold and calculating, almost robotic, hence "cyborg" as Glenn called him. Bottom line is Sephiroth seemed to be susceptible to influence. This scene with Rosen was important enough to his story for Square to make it in CGI and everything so it has to be a landmark moment for his development. Maybe it did plant a seed in his head that it would be better off for everyone to be together forever in the Lifestream than to suffer in this mortal world. And by becoming God, he can make this happen and "save everyone", across all worlds. Kind of like Madara wanted with the Infinite Tsukuyomi in Naruto, or Ywach in Bleach.

    Tbh this screams Nomura. I really don’t like that they’re using this game to tell sometbinf potentially very important and that it’s not in rebirth,
    Tjay said I just want sephiroth to be evil, I want him to went to absorb the life stream and summon meteor, I don’t want humanity sephiroth.
    I want them to develop him by exploring the relationship between him and Jenova and who’s really controlling who. The original left that very vague.
    Omni sephiroth and Omni Aerith, it’s just nomura and it’s convuluted. It’s marketing between games so we speculate between games to keep us interested but it’s at the cost of the story and quality of the story. Ever crisis should be back story only imo.

    They may have walked back some of it? Though I believe Sephiroth is too popular just to make him evil just to be evil. Not sure if he is redeemable. I think there is just something about and anti-hero/not evil just to be evil characters. So I kind of think that is why they are adding stuff to his character. I am interested to see what happens next. I also wish it was its own mainline game like Crisis Core.
