Your channel has been a big help in my safety razor journey. I have a beard but shave my neck and head. I have a Rockwell 6C and started with the 3 plate. I’m up to the 5 and thanks to this vid I’m about to go to the 6. I have a leaf thorn that has quickly become my favorite so far for my neck and shaping in my beard. I just ordered a leaf shaver because the back is just a war zone for me.
The first video of yours that I saw was the first use of the 6C on your head like your fourth head shave you said and it's interesting to see the difference now as opposed to then and I've never seen the leaf razor either so that was pretty neat, thanks.
I’m sold on the Leaf for head shaves, but on the fence now between Henson and Rockwell for face shaves. Haven’t started wet shaving yet, but I want to get into it.

Love the Leaf but i have a sensitive head and break out easily at the back of the head/neck. Purchased both at your suggestion and love both for different reasons but for me the single blade of the 6c just can't be beat combined with the plate adjustability. Ill probably experiment some more with the leaf but the 6c holds the crown for now.
This is a great side by side comparison. As you know I owned both and I defaulted back to my Rockwell T2. I just felt like it cut closer and for me it just works better. Even though my experience wasnt the best I would still encourage folks who are on the fence to buy it and try it. Leaf was accommodating and let me return it.
Gotta say I’ve been looking for an alternative to electric shavers on my head for a while. I always have to work like a dog to get the best result which still wasn’t as good as using the safety for the first time. I thought this style of shaving was a bit of an old school way that was outdated. I think was wrong. Your videos are very informative and encouraging and I made the switch. Dove in head first and got a Rockwell 6C. No nicks on the first try, (some irritation though) but probably driver error. I look forward to experimenting with different blades and soaps going forward. Great videos and channel! Subscribed! Thank you!
I tried a few electric shavers & I'd always get irritated skin & after a few weeks the blades don't cut so great so I'd always go back to cartridges but now I'm waiting on my delivery from leaf & looks like I'm gonna finally move on from Harry's razors.
I can't wait to get my leaf razor delivered, i just ordered it along with the twig for a little over $100, the leaf by itself was about $80-$90 & the twig by itself was about $60 so it was a no brainer to get em both for like $102 i love how i can use many different blade brands in the leaf & twig. I now use the harry's cartridge razor for my head & a shavette for my face, i tried the shavette on my head a few times & it works great for the most part just takes longer but i do have trouble getting the back of my head since i can't see even with multiple mirrors i end up missing spots & nicking myself but only on the back of my head because i cant see... now the sides, top & around the ears i do great with the shavette plus lining up my goatee or my beard i always get a straight line for some reason i can't ever get a straight line with cartridge razors like Gillette or harry's.
Very nice I'm still trying to find the best method for head shaves myself still haven't found the right combination of razors and and razor blades and soaps to use for my head i keep getting reddness and irritation
As you can see in this video, I didn't go against the grain at all. I went across the game twice on the back of my head, where my hair growth is the thickest. Might want to give that a try. Works great for me
I have no experience with The Leaf, but can well imagine how great a head shaver it is. The Rockwell on plate 2(yes, you read correctly) is the ultimate in comfort and ease for a 3 pass head shave.
The Leaf is awesome for head shaves. But what do you mostly use to go around your ears on the daily? If find that the Leaf is horrible at that, and the Rockwell isn't my favorite for it either. What's the best solution there? Interested to hear, thx.
Leaf is awesome for head shaves. I usually load the bottom two slots and get great shaves with it. I then use the Thorn to get around the ears better. I also use the High Proof, the MARS, the WSC Winning and Aylsworth Kopparkant plus for head shaving. The Leaf and High Proof are for quicker shaves with the Leaf being quickest. The Kopparkant plus is the closest shave. Any DE takes a little longer and keeping the angle is key especially on the curves. Great comparison.
@@primetimeedgetwitch3274 Yes I still get BBS. Once you get the Leaf down, I get great shaves with any blade, the trick is not to chase BBS but most shaves I get BBS or very close
I always suggest people to buy a variety pack off Amazon to test out different blades to see which one works best for your skin and hair type. Everyone is different.
Would love to see you try a head shave using the Henson! Saw another reviewer using one and it seemed to work flawlessly. I just ordered the AL13-M. We’ll see if it replaces my Leaf for getting my head BBS
The AL13-M works well for head shaves, but it is on the mld side and requires more work to get a close shave. Pair it with a good, sharp, smooth blade though: the RK blades it ships with these days are too rough and tuggy. I use an Astra with mine, and it's acceptable, but the Leaf is much less effort.
Informative video! I'm deciding between these two razors and the Henson AL13 for my head. Definitely looking for a more mild shave, but something efficient. I have fine, dense hair but sensitive skin so I get ingrowns and white heads often. All three razors seem to be good, but I'm probably going to grab all three and figure out which works best, since their return policies are generous.
@@OhioShaves You can! Henson has a 100 day guarantee on their razors, with the exception of the Ti22, and you can only return a razor once. Rockwell has a 60 day guarantee on their razors, opened consumable soft goods cannot be returned. Leaf has a 60 day guarantee on their razors, razor stands, and blade disposer. All companies will honor these guarantees/returns as long as you made your purchase directly through them, not a distributor or 3rd party retailer. There are some other exceptions, but I advise anyone looking into razors (let alone any product) to see what the warranty is. I want to walk away with a product I love. I don't want to get stuck with one I'll have to sell/store/dispose of.
Thank you! Some great inputs you made there! Where would you place the Henson al13 ++ in this comparison? Hoping for more head shaves videos, love your content. Cheers
Love your work! Which would you say gives the closer shave on the head? (I know blades factor in too, so any combo ideas would be appreciated) And how does it compare to the Henson? Looking for the perfect balance between the closest shave (shave my head everyday) and ease of use (maybe I’m dreaming that I can have both?!) Thank you for all you do for the head shaving community!
For both Head and face. I like the 6R’s. A lot of shavers love the Henson as I do. I just let my hair on my head grow for a week or more. So I need more aggression
Hello , I'm just getting a head shave, which one do you think would be better for me? Since I live in Turkey, I would like to choose 1 as I will be supplying it in somewhat difficult conditions. I would be very happy if you could help. Have a nice day. Happy shaves.
I have both the Leaf and the 6c. I have use the leaf for head shaving but never had use the 6c for headshave. I use to have the T2 but even on plate #1 i felt it like to agressive for me
I come from cartridge razors and no problems whatsoever. The first time I shaved my head with the leaf I cut myself five times, two in front and three in the back. Only blades in the middle and top positions. Any advice or suggest?
If I were to shave my head I'd probably get a Leaf razor and put a single blade in it. I think the ability for it to pivot would be nearly necessary IMO.
Pivoting head of razor is not necessary. It is NICE but not necessary. David gave a spoken comment, very briefly, that if you can shave your face with double edge razor, then you can shave your head. He is correct (for most people who use safety razors). How one handles the safety razor is mostly , almost all, in the feel of your hand, wrist, fingers, and arm.
I find the Leaf Shave far more comfortable for head shaving than a traditional DE. I own a 6C, and it's my hands-down favourite for face shaves, but Leaf wins out on the bonce. The handle length, blade positioning and flexible head all make for the perfect 'awkward shape' shaver.
A nice idea for a video: I have been shaving with Safety Razors for about a year now and have built up a small collection. My mom had a bag of Gillette Blue II (2) disposable razors that she didn't use. I took it in and gave it a try. It's a bit "hard" to say but this razor has surprised me. Where the Mach 3 and the Fusion etc. always give me a tugging feeling, the Blue II doesn't at all. It would be nice if you consider making a video about this. I am very curious about your opinion about this razor.
I love the leaf razors, but they don't last, I'm on my second and it's already starting to crumble. That's what I'm looking at safety razors. I had an old gilette fatboy that lasted years and years

Because a product looks like something doesn't make it that something. A beyond burger is never going to be a hamburger because it looks like a hamburger.
That restriction limits your choices, but some models ARE available. I have three different razor (heads) and each exposes the end tabs of the blades. I only cut myself once or twice in about 3 years. Just a tiny bit of care and you should have nothing to worry about.
Great comparison David! Both are fabulous razors, and I would also recommend both. The Rockwell has the versatility of doing head and face, whereas the leaf, in my opinion is best kept for the head. TBH, if you have these two razors in your shave den, you honestly don't "need" anything else. 🪒💈🇨🇦
