  • This can now also be found at my 'professional page' MrsBeckett along with other tutorials
This is a lesson I created for my students to assist them in locating features using Latitude and Longitude. (It does not go into minutes and seconds as it is aimed at grade 7 students) It is the first time I have created something like this so at some points I do pause as I correct my grammar. It also have activities and I do go through the answers.
NB: I got the very last one wrong (even though I checked it about a billion times) Thank- You to those who noticed. I have fixed it with a speech bubble but my voice will still give the incorrect answer.

This video is very well explained and demostrated, i love how in the beggining, you taught us the strategies to remember the lines of Latitude and Longitude effiently, and some exercise afterwrds. I was very much confused about how to find places on a map properly before i watched your video, and after i finish understand and finished the exercises, i now could easily know which direction to go. My teacher didn't really talk about how to find the lines in class, so i was very frustrated then..
Overal, it is a very awesome video for beginners, and i suggest more people to watch this video over and over again if you forgot any.. Keep it up! :)))))

Longitude lines are equal and same long because they all havre to start out from the same point And go all the way to the same point to end. Latitudes are rings of different sizes. In fact if you are standing on 90 degrees there is no time because you are in every time zone at the same time.

How is Randy doing... at work I guess things are evolving. America while we spent our money away in the Middle East now is going to be challenged by Asia and China. In the Pacific. The problem is that it is China that has the manufacturing capacity and young engineers that have picked up a lot of know how and insider information to start building warships, submarines and a lot of military infrastructure on these newly conquered lands in the Pacific. Nervous well for good reason... Australia, New Zeeland and all these Asian countries due to their changing population are becoming more Asia oriented. Students at every Asian university study English overtime... Once they have this common language, just like it happened in America with the immigrants from Europe will become a very powerfull financial and commercial entity. They also now have a lot of research reseources due to the Internet and sharing.

I found that the easiest way for me to remember which is latitude vs longitude is just to think of a cartesian (x,y) coordinate plane. X, traditionally the horizontal axis, always comes before Y, the vertical axis; just as latitude, the horizontal axis, comes before longitude, the vertical axis, alphabetically; thus latitude is the x-axis and longitude is the y-axis.
