I would have picked the wheel up a little higher than further back. You have built a really efficient wheel design it's efficiency is maximized when the fins are positioned so they can absorb the waters volume and momentum with minimal overflow. Basically aim the paddles perpendicular to the waters direction of travel. Your side covering panel is perfect for catching the volume of water you have flowing to be able to produce a significant amount of horsepower. It's really good thanks for sharing.

i know you posted this a while ago. but maybe some splash guards from the flowing water to protect the bearings and motor from accelerated decay. perhaps a cover as well to protect from rainfall? Otherwise..this is really amazing work! love it! ♥

The pressure behind that last culvert at the join concerns me to. If it moves it could cause structural issues with whatever is onit, presumably a road.
Also water build up behind the wall, will spread out up stream even under current flow rates never lone a rain event.

Like all the other Projects you've done- Wattage/Voltage Report Please! (I realize this is after the fact, this is a suggestion for the future). All your projects always look great but I can only half-judge every one because the rest is judged by a hyrdo setup's performance. I plan on setting up my own hydro system for power and the numbers are important because I want to build something that's as efficient as possible, and it'd be nice if it looked appealing like your stuff always does. Which of your setups has given you the most power? How do they compare? Is doing something more elaborate worth the effort?

Just lower the water flow to the wheel, so it will make more torque and increase your power outcome.

Yes, there’s something odd about this. Blocking a 2 metre culvert for this hobby seems very unsafe. It’s also inefficient - all the white water is a bad sign and it’s being used to illuminate bulbs rather than store energy or power something else useful.

Can you work for the city you live in? To better it if your in a village? You can plan out a new section of houses with electric plumbing (fresh water) sewer street lights, new streets, radio tower, wind turbine. As a world leading physicist I would like you to try and obtain anti gravity. You are an extra advanced engineer. First what is gravity? It is outer space dark matter 3d vibrational field. Imagine the earth is a ball halfway in the water for illustration purposes. Notice the water pushes on all sides against the ball or earth. That is what gravity is. A vibration energy field pushing us down. Because matter makes a void in space just as the ball makes a void in the water. The answer to anti gravity is imagining this field as a wave. And what counters a wave? An equal wave against it cancels it. Or neutralizes it. So see if you can build a vibration platform and place a 5 pound weight on it. If your actually still on this project: Comepletely depends on what kind of wattage you want to output, because pumps usually output lots of torque, use one with torque such as 775 motors, usually using dedicated wind turbine motors works wonderful

I have been wanting to build a hydro turbine of some sort to charge a phone, but how do you go from the motor to the phone. Does the DC power have to go through something to step it down. I want to be able to see how much power I can produce, but have it safely charge a phone or something.

Great video but surely better use of basic safety gear would have been common sense. Welding gloves and a welding apron [aren't] suggestions when using metal cutting & welding equipment. Remember, really nasty injuries can occur, are easily avoided, and people watching your videos may copy any bad practices you demonstrate in your videos, potentially injuring themselves in the process.
