I had the VHS when I was a kid and because of this video I always wanted to go to the trappers college. Last year I went and it was amazing and I highly recommend it
Title says Old School.. I have trapped with short and long chain both with spring tensioner . If you run a short chain you really need a spring in it to take the extra pull so your stake is harder to pull up. Another option is to run a longer stake with a short chain. There is less of a catch circle with a short chain, easier and faster resets. The only way your really going to know if you like it, is to try it. If the animal can’t move, it can’t generate as much power. Also if the animal has limited movement,there is less chance of injury..Just because most videos show adding chain, doesn’t mean a short chain won’t work. Just means your going to spend more money on chain. Adding more chain is a industry fast fix that also has potential revenue. Short chain works if your set up properly, those animals in the video weren’t thrashing around and generating any power like most videos we see today.Earth ANCHORS are great for short chain set ups IMO.
I donated 5 coyotes to the college, through Julien. I used to trap for Tim. And no they weren't from any of his jobs. I probably donated muskrats but didn't know it...lol We gave the beavers to Wendt to feed his coyotes and foxes. The coyotes Tim asked me for them. The ones I caught for Tim I'm sure he would have donated too, because never seen any drying. And I caught all the yotes. One of the reasons he hired me. They didn't give me the name Coyote Chris for nothing..lol

Why the short chain rather than a longer one . Most other videos show adding chain to avoid pulling straighter up on the anchor ? Thanks
