I have seen LA these few days too and for my ownself didn't like it. In LA, you need a car. Skateboarding is impossible given the slopes like SF. You do not want to share public transport as it transport a lot of people with different/unpredictable behavior. Apart of having natural landscape, the downtown is pretty dead at night and everywhere is so scattered and far away.
