ADORE ❤️ 🎸.. Thank you Marissa for your Amazing Live Performance at Heppel&Ettlich Munich in September 2019...And for signing the Album "For my Crimes"... The perfekt Birthday Present for Bunny Rogers 30.Birthday....😘 🌹
It's remarkable. Specifically, from an engineering standpoint. And especially Her Vocals... which are Breathtaking. Give me an entire album of this sound right here. No, give me 10! :)
Marissa has admitted to being an appreciator of Chelsea's music, and I think that's wonderful! I'm totally convinced, just by listening to each of them, that their voices are two completely different experiences. I think a lot of people might get caught up on the idea that each happens to have a strong ethereal quality to their voice... usually set to a drone, and/or otherwise Dark sound. Okay, that may be "The Big Takeaway" for a lot of people, but I must be listening deeper, or something. Because I'm hearing things in Chelsea's voice I don't hear in Marissa's, and vice-versa. And I appreciate them each, for it. For instance, Chelsea has a way about her voice where she becomes A Master of Inflection. A great example of this is in her song "American Darkness". There's so much, Particularly Different, Points of Inflection. Wolfe is also a hell of a Poet (as evidenced by the same song). Marissa's voice, on the other hand... perhaps in my opinion, possesses that ethereality we appreciate in each artist, but stylistically; Marissa's voice appears to favour a longer draw of air (through lung capacity), and when she goes from one line to the other, it's as if she's blending each passage together the way an artist would do on a canvas. Whereas Chelsea's voice is magnetically, magically captivating. Marissa's voice possesses a depth of Prettiness that can only be found in the prettiest of flowers. For me, (I don't know, maybe it's just me!), each of these gals brings something totally their own to their music, and I appreciate each voice distinctly differently from each other, for their own amazing qualities. I make music, so maybe that's why I can clearly hear the difference between each of these voices. I imagine any vocal coach could do a comparison and point out another 100 differences (at least) with ease. Each of these women's voices are Remarkable, no doubt. So this analogy may suffice for those who may still be confused on the matter: if each gal's voice were a flower, each flower would appear different from the other, but each flower would still be beautiful... in it's own right. And that's what I like about each of them. Marissa deserves much more credit as a vocalist/musician, and as a multi-media artist, in general. She brings such wonderful pieces of art into the world. One thing I'd also like to point out, with absolute respect to Ben Chisholm. There's a level of audio-production in this track that's also remarkably different from a standard Chisholm song, and I'm sure any producer could point out 100 differences. Sorry, I just get exhausted with: a) people being tone-deaf to the differences between each artist's approach stylistically. And b) people not being able to appreciate each of these truly remarkable artists for their own special, unique qualities, that they each possess. In Their Own Right. As far as this particular song is concerned however. It's DOPE AS FUCK! Love it! Give me an entire record with THIS SOUND. Make it like a Sleep or Bell Witch song, extend it out another 50 minutes, because in order for me to hear it again I have to keep hitting "repeat"! :)
Something else I'd like to point out, for anyone who actually wishes to be empirical. On this video, skip to 4 minutes in: th-cam.com/video/89H73YCGudg/w-d-xo.html She was doing this in 2008, and the song was released in 2004. (I have respect for both of these gals, they're both amazing in their own way).
Could listen to this literally twice before getting totally sick of it. It's almost too simplistically written, both lyrically and compositionally. Wasted effort on some decent, undeveloped harmonies. Hopefully this single isn't reflective of the album in and maybe just the filler track.
I feel that way about it too, a little. That it's too simplistic and can get really annoying. But for some reason I keep listening to it, like it's got some mystical holding power, lol.
Giving me some serious Chelsea Wolfe vibes here. Loving it.
Love it. Reminds me a lot of Chelsea Wolfe!
It seems that the divers of the dirt simply refuse to see your Objective Freedom as Absolute.
In Strength, Marissa.
Hypnotic tune! Video remind me of 90's Tool-videos.
Brothers Quay
Yes, my mind went to Prison Sex.
Brilliant!!!!!!!🖤

Wow, this is going into heavy rock and drone territory, that's unusual for Marissa.

Well... Thank you Chelsea Wolfe... :/
Yup.
My thoughts exactly. She had to have been inspired by Chelsea - which is a good thing. But the influence is striking.
