I ran away from a naval academy in England and learned how hop trains and listen to punk music. Also my Aunt was Hilly Kristal. I got shot in the neck in the navy and instead of taking drugs I hop trains for ptsd and meditation. I got “🖖🏻“ two sets of twins and a professional boxer for a daughter and I take all of my kids train hopping. I went to college and graduated in business but train hopping is really my life’s passion. People come up to me and tell me they love my life. I did multiple tours in Iraq and I was deployed in the Congo but I will not talk about the Congo. Those damn Guerrillas. This man got high one day and never came back down.

Just doing a little math says he would be about 23-24 (at the youngest) after college, OCS, and EOD school, so that would have been around 93'-94', and he would have started riding trains when he was 32, or around 2002. The first Gulf War ended in 91' and the latest Iraq war didn't start until the Spring of 2003. Something's not adding up here.

It is possible that this train hopper guy meant his aunt owned the real estate, but he said that she owned CBGBs, which is not true, but she could have owned the actual building. Property ownership is public record, so this can be checked.

If you go climbing or skating or surfing you're getting into many potentially deadly situations if you're dumb. That doesn't mean you should keep your kids in safety cages. If you know what you're doing, you should let your kids handle danger and learn to navigate the world. That's what he did and I have mad respect and admiration for him as a father.

@@zaratrusta79 There's slightly more risk involved train hopping compared to learning how to skate while wearing protective gear (as all kids should be doing). If you use a helmet, knee pads etc you're not at imminent risk of death as you are if you get crushed into a pulp by a moving train.
Hi Mark if you happen to notice this, very very big fan of your work, one thing i was always glad to see was your interviews with workers, fellas like this, the coal miner interviews, i feel these are very unspoken but yet desired to be heard interviews, getting to hear these from people like iron workers, truck drivers, fisherman, union trades of all sorts, on and on. as a younger worker this was always cool to hear for me and i feel like no one could and would do it better then you.
I work at a convenience store in Quakertown, Pa and it was Tuesday, Oct 17, 2023 in the morning and that's when i first met him. He kept coming back into the store just being a pain in the ass and as the morning when on, he became worse. He eventually asked me what sunglasses look good on him and he STOLE the sunglasses!! I lost all respect for him. He told me that he is a homeless veteran, but seriously? Does that give him a right to steal anything?!! Let me add that he was harassing a customer, too. My boss and a coworker went after him and I called the cops. If i remember correctly, the officer said that he was arrested in 13 other states for shoplifting!! My boss NEVER filed charges against him and he was lucky. My boss has a good heart and he didn't want to makes the situation worse all around. I pray for him and i wish him well. May i add that he was drinking and that's probably why his situation changed for the worse. Such a shame his day had to be this way.

Edit: there are so many electronics and sensors attached to the freight trains to allow the conductor and engineer to know if there's a problem. Definitely cutting the main brake line will cause problems and set off a sensor allowing the conductor and engineer to know the brake line has been severed

Just met this guy literally 5 minutes ago at Birdies Gas Station in Luling, Louisiana. except now he’s in a wheelchair because he got hit with a 9 mm bullet whenever he got off the train here in my hometown and had to go to our local hospital to get treatment. Oh the predictable judgement.... He's seen kids die that don't follow the basic safety rules. If you go climbing or skating or surfing you're getting into many potentially deadly situations if you're dumb. That doesn't mean you should keep your kids in safety cages. If you know what you're doing, you should let your kids handle danger and learn to navigate the world. That's what he did and I have mad respect and admiration for him as a father.
@@joaniemeow Yes, I realized someone would bring this up but here's the catch: driving a car, taking the bus, biking or walking in/around traffic is something we have to do to live functional lives in the society we have. It's not a choice, at least it's one that makes out lives considerably much more annoying and difficult to deal with if we dont do it. Train hopping is not something we have to do to function in society :)
@@zaratrusta79 There's slightly more risk involved train hopping compared to learning how to skate while wearing protective gear (as all kids should be doing). If you use a helmet, knee pads etc you're not at imminent risk of death as you are if you get crushed into a pulp by a moving train.

Hi Mark if you happen to notice this, very very big fan of your work, one thing i was always glad to see was your interviews with workers, fellas like this, the coal miner interviews, i feel these are very unspoken but yet desired to be heard interviews, getting to hear these from people like iron workers, truck drivers, fisherman, union trades of all sorts, on and on. as a younger worker this was always cool to hear for me and i feel like no one could and would do it better then you.

I work at a convenience store in Quakertown, Pa and it was Tuesday, Oct 17, 2023 in the morning and that's when i first met him. He kept coming back into the store just being a pain in the ass and as the morning when on, he became worse. He eventually asked me what sunglasses look good on him and he STOLE the sunglasses!! I lost all respect for him. He told me that he is a homeless veteran, but seriously? Does that give him a right to steal anything?!! Let me add that he was harassing a customer, too. My boss and a coworker went after him and I called the cops. If i remember correctly, the officer said that he was arrested in 13 other states for shoplifting!! My boss NEVER filed charges against him and he was lucky. My boss has a good heart and he didn't want to makes the situation worse all around. I pray for him and i wish him well. May i add that he was drinking and that's probably why his situation changed for the worse. Such a shame his day had to be this way.

Edit: there are so many electronics and sensors attached to the freight trains to allow the conductor and engineer to know if there's a problem. Definitely cutting the main brake line will cause problems and set off a sensor allowing the conductor and engineer to know the brake line has been severed
