    As we sink into rebuilding the 60 series landcruiser, stripping the interior and doing extensive sound treatment is an important part for Jake. But can we make a 60 series as quiet as a brand new landcruiser 200? You'll see before and after tests to see just how well it goes!

    For me the biggest difference wasn't the raw numbers. I did similar tests in my gq pre and post sound deadening and there was a drop of 5db across the range. However it was the fact I have gotten rid of a million little noises that made the real difference.

    Cool, I was actually on a long drive today wondering what I can do to cut out some of the road noise. But most of the noise was coming in from around the doors and the windows. I've already dynomated all the doors and fenders and rear floor and put foam down too but I've still have to do the roof and backseat to front area. I wonder if now gaskets around the doors and windows will help with my problems. I myself do not like the loudness and love the quietness of my newer daily driver and am determined to try to achieve the same for my FJ60. Nice video.

    It would actually help a lot if you guys sound proofed the fire wall and the hood of the car and added extra thick carpet foam on the roof and floor. Trust me, it makes a huge difference. The engine of the car vibrates the whole car causing everyone to vibrate. It would also help if you added extra insulation strips down where the drive shafts and transfer cases are located. One thing to keep in mind is the bigger/more the windows the vehicle has, the louder the road noises will be. Thin glass doesn’t to well in reflecting sound. Try tinting your windows. It helps a bit but not much

    Did the dash end up quieter after reinstalling it? my 62 rattles and squeaks some on rough roads.
    Did you have a snorkel on it or are you installing one?
    Has this cruiser been with you or in your family since new? Garaged? Cause it looks new.

      @jakethomasgarner1886 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Mick. That’s a number of questions😂
      The dash/firewall noise penetration is definitely less. The only engine noise you can hear now is the A/C evaporator drainage hose which lets sound in from the outside and resonates inside the evaporator/ air compartment. Plenty of things that can be done about this but it’s not loud and the 12ht engine is a beautiful sound to me.

    • @jakethomasgarner1886
      @jakethomasgarner1886 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This HJ61 was imported to Australia in 2005. The JDM landcruisers always seem to be in excellent condition before they get imported to Australia. It has been in the family since 2007 and hadn’t had a whole lot of love so I was glad to get my hands on it. It looks good from a distance but has a bit of rust in a few places which we will eventually sort out.

    Hi guys, did you have to take the windscreen out to remove the roof liner from the A pillar? I need to remove my liner but want to avoid taking out the screen. I just know the chrome inserts wont ever go back in the same.

      Nah the windscreen didn't have to come out 🙂 just tucks behind the trim

    good content. what was the material cost (for the regular punter :P) also that Celica in the shed, TA22 or RA23?

    • @Alex.G
      @Alex.G  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      At a guess...$500 all up! Most people wouldn't go to the extreme extent Jake did here though. The celica is a Ta22

      I'd love to get dad on here sometime, you're right you'd see exactly where we get all our mannerisms too. He doesn't want any part in it though haha 😄 someday I might convince him. Mum.....I reckon she could be easier to persuade

    80db at 80k's for a sustained period would do hearing damage... fk that

    • @jakethomasgarner1886

      Yeah apparently you can withstand 80db for 8 hours. But even then it would get tiring.
