I think what makes this build so great is the character the truck has. It's no show truck. Dents, scratches, scrapes; you even made your own scar, learned what you needed and added it yourself. Truly a DIY build and we are all living vicariously through you
Wow you made that looks easy! It’s amazing how creative you are with this stuff. Everything you’re doing is from scratch and it’s been awesome to see the truck be built from the ground up. You’re extremely talented and these videos are awesome! Cheers 🍻
The transformation of this truck is remarkable. Great work. The gussets were a smart addition. Those little pieces will make a huge difference. Keep it up! 🍻
This video is a perfect example why this is my favorite TH-cam channel. So fun to watch this truck come together and you have no fear taking on any project. 👍
Those welds look good, like what I would expect if I paid somebody to do it. I recommend the textured bedliner spray for the sliders and bumpers (if you haven't used it yet). Lays pretty nice.
@@mikes4x4garage if you didn’t live in California you would think differently. The rocks from the roads in CO literally sand blast all finishes. Rather pay for something that doesn’t get destroyed. My powder coat isn’t even good enough Cerakote is another option but I haven’t seen anyone do that for sliders, etc. I just have to touch up my powder coat with paint+primer every once in a while
My buddy and I are putting together an aluminum rear bumper for my 4Runner. I go up to the Eldorado National Forest as it’s only a couple hours drive but have stayed off the rubicon trail. @@mikes4x4garage I like watching the struggle bus stuff because that’s what I got a ticket to ride on. It’s inspirational to see others using what they got and not fancy that I’ll never own.
Hey man I haven't finished watching the video yet and I've commented on here before. TLDR; I work at a Toyota only 4x4 shop. When we do our custom body mount relocation we always weld a plate onto the frame, then weld the new body mount onto that welded plate. We do this the the body mount doesnt rip right off the frame!! These toyota frames are super thin and flexy! Much love and I know that this is all a learning process!
Great job. Professional done 1/4 of the price. I went about and bought 200$ side steps. It will help enough. Not a weekend warrior or die hard overlander. Keep it up.
What a build man great work! I just binge watched every video on the channel and it was amazing I’m sure your channel will blow up in no time keep it up 👍🏻
I have to say, you sir are brave doing that so close to your Santa Cruz 😎 but cool video gives inspiration and confidence to attempt this for my Suzuki sidekick.
Nothing wrong with ur welds ur a pretty good fabricator. And i had bfg all terrains on my 06 tacoma and it went absolutely anywhere so good choice of tires 👌🏻
Those came out nice! Can't wait to replace the rockers on my ZJ with rectangle tube this summer. After putting sliders on my First Gen Taco years ago I wasn't scared to put it in some stupid places.
Nah fam your videos are addicting and tbh I don’t know much about working on cars besides the basics nor do I usually watch vehicle videos but man are ur videos good just the way you work through problems and just come up with answers/solutions is very inspiring and very interesting good work on the videos and the truck much love keep up the good work my brotha
Ive really been enjoying these videos bro. I am about to buy a 2022 TRD off-road and i am super excited. I also have a little Honda and an XJ similar to yours.
Sup man! Actually just cut off my kickouts tonight and made em straight. One thing I would highly reccomend, is going to at least 4, if not 5 slider to frame legs. Mine that I originally did with 4 legs, are tweaked up quite a bit from use over time. Nice work though, and you definitely deserve more subscribers!
I wish I knew how to weld and had the garage to work in (only have an open carport) I don’t have the skills or space to do a built not bought truck. I subbed up on your latest video where you talk about how much it cost you to buy & build your truck.
Truck looks great, and love what you have been able to do in your garage with Harbor Freight tools! Are your wheels the Toyota TRD PRO SEMA wheels that are 7" wide, or are they aftermarket look-a-likes that are wider?
I’ve never seen a welding issue on automotive stuff but I’ve seen some weird stuff welding on semis, disconnect the negative and the positive. The ground for the welder can become a ground for the rest of the truck too and become a problem. Wish I had a welder at home so I could have made my own sliders too 😭
Just a though but why not weld some angled supports on the legs? You can make them pretty heavy duty so they will never bend if you add angled supports from the slider portion to the leg on the middle section and from the leg to the frame on outside sections
They’re there. just from the legs to the frame, it’s in the video. They’re strong enough for this truck to drop on them and not bend, so that’s good for me 👍🏻
I’m still trying to learn, my welds are pretty bad compared to others. mig welding is very easy to learn. I mostly just watch TH-cam videos and practice on scrap steel
the fact u don’t have more subscribers is crazy to me, feel like u are bound to gain tons of subscribers here soon!! keep up the great work man!!

It has been through a lot already, it can only get better right? Haha
Been following your truck build from the beginning! Love the content!
Definitely a good idea to remove the ground when welding, I’ve had an ecu get fried from a cage being welded into my track car. Not a fun experience.
I disconnect the ECM as well I've had a computer go bad and it's a pain
Thing is looking so good, can't wait to start seeing some offroad videos man!
