That's a great ride!! When we have anyone from out of state visiting we take them up that road. We use to go all the way to Roosevelt lake but, since Fish Creek hill was washed out a couple of years ago they have decided not to repair the road.
@@Viper6-MotoVloggerBack in the early 80s I put a Yamaha 1100 in the ditch on that road right after It goes to 25mph and all the hairpins begin. Trying to catch up with a group and was to fast for a corner.... drove right into the ditch. Cracked my fairing and my pride. But, that was it. I was lucky it wasn't the other side of the road with the drop off.

I love twisty road but unfortunately towards the end of my biking years I started to get motion sickness and after a while I gave up biking… I still get terrible motion sickness if I am a passenger in a car but not driving thankfully

Very nice road and very nice weather. You're right about riding at the pace of the slower rider, but when that rider's in front it's hard not to crowd him too much and too often.

yes, it is possible to have a road that is too twisty - Highway 99 southbound north of Whistler is like that for me - I spend too much time gawking around at the scenery and forget to notice the upcoming switchbacks while going downhill. Nice scenery, nice road.

My buddy took it a little slow and didn’t really handle the bends correctly, which made it stressful for him. I did watch that celebrity pickleball game. The good part is that they raised money for charity. The bad part is that they played the game to horribly, that it made the sport look boring lol. Be safe my friend.

Looks like a blast to me. Since it seems you can't go too fast, I might even be able to take my scooter on it lol. I know I could take my solstice. Now that would be fun. Top down, flying into the curves. Heck yeah! Oh and before anyone condemns me for 'flying' into the curves, my flying consists of speeds maybe 5 miles over the recommended and that's a big maybe lol.

How about the 22 miles of "unpaved " road that is just past the old restaurant and post office that is on the lane and a half width ot Apache Trail that snakes along the Salt River until you come out the other end by the Dam on Roosevelt Lake. Pointers? On your head? The only tip that counts is to respect the road. The best I was able to get out of that old trail would be about 20 mph on an "Enduro" bike, because of the narrow width of the road, and the unknown condition of the washboard rutting that hides at every turn until the last quarter mile, where it becomes a paved road by the dam. Enjoy the spectacular view. Just remember to respect the ride it lays out for you.
Coming from a dirt bike background, I would definitely enjoy the trail you described. The guy that was in front of me seems to have struggled on this road, which was quite easy to navigate for me.
@@Viper6-MotoVlogger the biggest hazards seemed to be the guys in trucks towing their boats in from the Eastern side, by Roosevelt Lake. I had to go slow on the unpaved parts if I expected to have a complete bike to speak of. Seemed counter productive to try to take it rapidly when I was there to take in the views of the Apache Trail. A calmer ride is up 89a, west of 17. Prescott, Jerome, and Sedona are the payoffs on that ride. Sedona on weekends suck because of tourist by 89 and 79(?)...ppl crossing the street.

TH-cam can be a little frustrating. I stopped getting notifications last year and now just go through my subscription feed multiple times a day, so I can catch vids that my peeps post. I have a prescription for Imitrex, but it only partially works if you catch the migraine in time. Be safe bro.
Tell Gary to stop looking at his front wheel and get his eyes up and on the vanishing point of the road. That's one reason why his speed is so erratic. He keeps shifting his eyes from directly in front to farther away and back again. Every time he does that he looses his perspective of distance and speed.
@@Viper6-MotoVlogger Trying to get all of those bad habits of cagers purged from a new rider is hard. Everyone now-a-days learns to drive automatic transmissions so when you try to introduce the concept of engine braking with throttle control they have a hard time trusting the bike's compression. Another suggestion would be to have him downshift 1 or 2 gears to get his RPM's up. Depending on the bike you may not be getting enough engine braking. I ride a 2004 600RR so I'm not comfortable unless it's at least 7k rpm. Most of the time when I'm riding hard it's between 9-12k rpm, where all of the good engine braking lives. Good on you Viper6. Yep, I discussed his handling of the bike and gave him some pointers. Temps right now are 6c in the morning and about 22c by noon.

TH-cam can be a little frustrating. I stopped getting notifications last year and now just go through my subscription feed multiple times a day, so I can catch vids that my peeps post. I have a prescription for Imitrex, but it only partially works if you catch the migraine in time. Be safe bro.
Tell Gary to stop looking at his front wheel and get his eyes up and on the vanishing point of the road. That's one reason why his speed is so erratic. He keeps shifting his eyes from directly in front to farther away and back again. Every time he does that he looses his perspective of distance and speed.
You are 100% correct and I did advise of what you suggest. I also told him to stop applying the brakes while turning, as he was unbalancing the bike.
@@Viper6-MotoVlogger Trying to get all of those bad habits of cagers purged from a new rider is hard. Everyone now-a-days learns to drive automatic transmissions so when you try to introduce the concept of engine braking with throttle control they have a hard time trusting the bike's compression. Another suggestion would be to have him downshift 1 or 2 gears to get his RPM's up. Depending on the bike you may not be getting enough engine braking. I ride a 2004 600RR so I'm not comfortable unless it's at least 7k rpm. Most of the time when I'm riding hard it's between 9-12k rpm, where all of the good engine braking lives.

@@timdavis6088 man, I totally agree with you on all the points you made. Unfortunately, Gary’s bike is a DCT and doesn’t have a clutch. Not sure if it has paddle shifters to change gears and use engine compression. Thanks for the sub and be safe out there.
