Hi there - thank you for the video - this is very helpful (especially seeing the change of the 33/45rpm which I couldn't figure out before). Is there a video you could share using the tone arm, putting it on/off the record? From the manual it seems to suggest that you can both lower the needle and raise it up again using the counterweight, but I can't work out how to pivot the tone arm with how I have it set up currently.

Cool looking and well made table but it's actually bad design to suspend the record on a few points because the vinyl is free to vibrate and resonate. Vinyl resonance is much more effectively damped out by allowing platter/mat to contact the record over it's entire surface area.

I own one of these original turntable x still use it. I agree with your comments regarding the vinyl being unsupported. But I have seen an example with a glass table sitting on the supports, so that the record is properly supported. To do this however, one needs an extended spindle on which to locate the record. Transcriptor could originally supply these on special order. But to-date I have never been able to find one for sale. These days having one computer printed is possible, I would think.

Amazing engineering, but no-one ever mentions that these were only made by Michell Engineering under license - this astonishing design was entirely the brainchild of Dave Gammon.
