Definitely holding fire on Crocodile Dundee'. If it's the cut version I'm out.
There's NO reason for Crocodile Dundee to be edited! If people are "offended" by anything in a movie they should go to therapy!
Croc Dundee is a NOGO for me since it is supposed to be a new cut that is more ”acceptable” with todays glasses. I will not contaminate my collection with that mess.
Unless the original cut is there too.

Sadly they edited it and removed scenes for the 2025 4K release.
"It’s also a recut version of the movie, now known as the ‘Encore Cut’ of the film. However, rather than just opening up the movie with a warning about material that doesn’t look too good through a modern lens, it’s being reported that two and a half minutes has been snipped out of the film."
*As per QNews, there is opening text, but also, material where Mick ‘Crocodile’ Dundee and meets a crossdresser has been edited out. It was never the best of jokes, and always a bit jarring, but I do wonder where it leads to start retroactively editing films to fit a modern lens. I’m not in the slightest defending the joke, and never liked it. But this is a very difficult road.*
Production company Rimfire Films issued a statement ahead of the Encore Cut’s debut noting that “some years ago, Paramount Pictures and other distributors requested the reference to the crossdresser be edited from the original film, as they found it offensive. We agreed to that request”.
@ not just a difficult road to go. A dangerous one. Altering history is not right. Even in entertaintment. Who decides what is to be offensive or too dangerous to show todays audience?
Should we completely censor the Richard Pryur and Gene Wilder movie See No Evil, Hear No Evil? It is completely based on makkng fun of a group of challenged people. Very offensive to some.
The problem here is in a way that we even have a discussion about this. Changing films after more than 30 years is a big nogo. Same goes for books and news.
To avoid inconvenience will never make humanity better. Much better to crinch and feel good about todays values than being fooled it has always been this way. That lazyness and fear of fear will only make it possible for bad things to be repeated. Like loosing democracy. Look at America. Thats where we go if we loose historical knowledge. Even theough entertaintment.
Paul Hogans will to plesse todays modern minds is just fear of seeming outdated and wrong. Pure weakness.
Thats not the movie he once made. So I will never ever buy a movie that is altered in this way.

Please, please, please, be true. You cannot purchase Crocodile Dundee in Australia. I had to order my three pack from Walmart for $60 Australian. Even from the opening scene this would look spectacular in 4K.
@@Dingoboy4565 You need to make your voice heard and contact Rimfire or whoever and tell them you don't want the censored "Encore Cut," but you demand the original Australian cut. The US cut isn't bad, but the Australian cut is the only completely uncensored cut of the film.
I want Crocodile Dundee 1 & 2 on 4K, preferably by a top boutique like Arrow. I desperately want that Aussie cut of the first film, and the US cut. Screw the international cut and especially screw the Encore Cut. A US TV cut would be fine. I'd also like a good feature showing the movie when it first came out, showing regular people's reactions, etc. That's one extra that they don't use enough...stuff from when movies launched, especially big movies and surprise hits. I want to see how a movie was perceived during it's initial theatrical run. I think this would help go a long way in making older movies more enjoyable for younger folks.
they definitely need to do more commentary on the extra about the history of how was film precieved .....I really miss the fun vibe of the 80s, I thought in 85wheb I was kid the magic would last forever.......unfortunately attitudes change 🙄 society and social standards change.....1987 and 1988 were awsome year

@@Movie_Collector_ManiacIt's not a rumor. Look up "Encore Cut." That's what the Aussies are getting in May in theaters. It's apparently already available to digitally "purchase." Hopefully Umbrella or Via Vision gets us the Aussie and US cuts, and maybe a TV cut as an extra.

Definitely getting the Stripes steelbook with HDR dolby vision upgrade and the theatrical version is going to get be included in 4K as well. Love that its official poster art as well and i can replace that hideous slipcover from the Columbia classics verison. Haha

I'm not going to get Crocodile Dundee until I know which cut of the film it is they are putting out. There's the original version and then there's a recent edited version where they cut and edited stuff out so it fits " today's modern sensibilities" and to make it less offensive to what they believe is the majority of todays modern audiences.
Everyone immediately thought of the same scene for Dundee in 4k. Damn croc, she was just trying to cool off!

We need Seven Minutes in Heaven with Jennifer Connelly in 4k! Pretty excited about Foul Play too. Got it at the thrift shop on DVD and grew up with it. A comedy mystery goofy classic! I think it's actually from the late 70s but I could be wrong.

Another great edition, Ken! Number 250 at that! Kudos! Excited for Foul Play 4K with that cast, it was a hit comedy in 1978. Dudley Moore and Brian Denehy also star.
Career Opportunities 4K, yes, it was a comedy hit in 1990. Jennifer in the '80s to this one, she was a hottie of the era for certain.
Stripes 4K is a sure bet for me.
I wish Shout Factory would put out more of Roger Corman's classic catalogue, where's the Carnosaur movies? or more Nurse films or Black Exploitation?
Monster from the Ocean Floor is the first movie Roger Corman produced! and the restoration looks preeetty darn good!

Career Opportunities is definitely worth another upgrade because it has all the special features from the Imprint version. A shame it’s missing a lot of the deleted scenes that were shot and deleted hence the very short running time since the movie was shot in 1989. Definitely getting Stripes, TimeCop, Long Kiss Goodnight, Career Opportunities and Foul Play.
Fletch were 2K scans. But they do look great and were cheap. So good enough to me.
I pre-ordered The Long Kiss Goodnight from Arrow.
Foul Play is Chevy Chase's first starring role made in 1979. Thats why its getting a 4K.
I don't know that Fletch was necessarily a bigger movie than Foul Play.
Released in 1978, Foul Play was Chevy Chase's first leading role in a major feature after he left Saturday Night Live in the fall of 1976. I seem to recall it was quite a hit and established Chase as a bona fide movie star.

Ken understand entirely what you were saying regarding Sorority House BUT we here outside the U.S as usual were screwed over by Scream Factory releasing site exclusives and not shipping anywhere outside U.S so we miss out. Now the 4K will be on Amazon so we can purchase it so I am happy to buy and waiting impatiently for Unlawful Entry as well.
I have Renfield 4K since it came out like over a year ago, but I got to have that Walmart Shout Factory Steelbook. I absolutely love that movie. 👍

The Gandhi and Stripes 4K steelbooks add Dolby Vision, by the way. The 4K's of these movies in the Columbia Classics sets were HDR10 only.
The Carpenter with Wings Hauser is pretty cheesy but it’s fun.
The ending of Crocodile Dundee is legitimately one of the greatest endings of all time -- the exchange in the subway.
I hope Arrow also gets to do Kiss Kiss Bang Bang.

I ordered my Walmart 4K Wicked Steelbook on day one. I knew that was going to sell out.
Stripes is a definite import for me, as in the uk. Hopefully Oliver another Columbia collection 4k will be released as a standalone.
I picked up the Trancers 4K from Hamiltonbook last September for $14.95. I still need to watch it. I will most likely get those John Wayne 4ks during a sale. He is my most owned movies of an actor in my collection. I will definitely pick up Time Cop. I already preordered The Long Kiss Goodnight from Arrow Video.
I'm so excited over the 4k releases of John Wayne films. THE HELLFIGHTERS would be an excellent addition as the fires look great in color on blu-ray a 4k upgrade would be excellent so I'm waiting on that one.
Chase, on his AVA Pop Culture channel, has said he has heard strong rumours the Dundee 4K is going to have several cuts made, if that is the case I won't be buying as I am totally against censorship. It is bad enough they are doing it with digital streaming but even worse they are starting to do it with physical media now as well.
I hear you and understand your opinion, its true paramount has made at least 1 cut for the forthcoming 4k, if not buy from ebay as a single or a Double pack. A similar thing might be happening to the forthcoming classic The French Connection with possibly 1 scene from the original being cut, TBA 2025

I'm always so jealous of American sales. I've wanted Exhuma on 4K for months now. 15 bucks there. If i want to get my hands on it i'd need to spend atleast 40 bucks. Same with all the Kino Lorber stuff. So annoying at times to not have access to any of these deals when you live in the EU.
I been anticipating a 4k release of Crocodile Dundee for a while now. I hope it's not just a rumor. I have my credit card ready to satisfy my FOMO.

I already have the first 4k versions of the "Dollar" trilogy and was disappointed that it did not have the restored THE GOOD THE BAD AND THE UGLY. So if the new set has the restored version I'm buying. The restored version has many scenes put back in that was cut for American release and left plot holes in the story. The deleted scenes had no sound so they had to get Clint Eastwood and Eli Wallach back into a sound booth to record their voices for the scenes. Lee Van Cleef had already passed so they got someone to dub his voice and he did an excellent job sounding just like Mr. Cleef. They also had to create some original score for some of the scenes as well as sound effects. They did an excellent job. Due to their age since the original release there was some concern that Clint and Eli's aged voices would sound different. While there is some difference in Eli Wallach's voiceover it is just a minor difference. The extended original is very enjoyable.
They announced a nice boatload of special features for The Hunt including a new director’s commentary which will make it worth the upgrade.
I note that my original comment about the forthcoming "Crocodile Dundee" release has been removed, possibly because it contains a link. If this is the policy of the page, then fair enough. I just wanted to warn people that there is a new version of this movie being released in 4K in cinemas this year, titled the "encore" cut. Apparently up to two and half minutes of the movie's original version have been removed in this new release. If this is the version that will be released on 4K, then that will be an easy pass for me.

I'm still waiting to prices to go down for movies that was available in october 2024. Paying 50$ CA for a regular release is ridiculous. Sixth sense per example. The dollars trilogy are all 72$ or 82$ each for preorder.

Love the collection reorg but the empty middle shelves are stressing me out. I have the same shelves and funko pops unboxed fit perfectly in that space. The coffee mugs are cool but I have horror funkos on mine which looks sweet.
The Possession of Joe Delaney and The Carpenter are great. Much better than some of the mainstream dreck that seems more popular among of watchers of this channel. Broaden your horizons, it’ll be worth it in the end.

Already pre-ordered the Dollars Trilogy. I'll get Stripes for sure. I haven't seen it, but everyone I know who's opinion I trust that has says Companion is a great film, so it might be a rare blind buy for me. Nothing being released this week I'm buying now, but I'll pick up Punch Drunk Love at the next Criterion sale and The Sacrifice at the next Kino sale.
The Twin Peaks ZtoA set is just a repackaging of the limited edition version from a few years ago with less fancy packaging and no cards or cutouts. But the discs are the same, and it's the only place you can get the pilot and season 3 episode 8 in 4k. I just wish they'd do the whole series in 4k.

2025 is heating up! This week my only pick ups were Film Master's Monster form the Ocean Floor and WellGo USA's The Invisible Raptor.
Not sure about Dundee. Normally would need to upgrade. But maybe those Australian vistas might look impressive on 4K.

Maybe the Vinegar Syndrome horror movies are unknown to you but not to horror fans. I know The Mansion Of Madness, The Carpenter and White Cannibal Queen. I've The Mansion Of Madness on DVD and White Cannibal Queen on VHS and DVD. I'm watching this in my phone so I don't see every detail of everything. Question:Are these 3 movies Blu-ray or 4K? I have the original Crock Dundee on digital. I think I'm good there without needing an upgrade. All the others are meh. I am almost sold on the Dollars trilogy though
