    One big mistake i used to make when i just started playing was being too afraid to make noise even when it was necessary. For example, i would die to a pack of dogs because i was trying to melee them without stamina, while i had dualies in my inventory ready to easily kill them all.
    So, as a piece of advice, if the only alternative to making noise is death, just go loud. If you move fast and pay attention to other teams' movement, being loud won't be a problem.

    • @blasianking4827
      @blasianking4827 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      Yep. Being too scared to make noise will just lead you to death more than if you just make noise when you have to. Also knowing when it's pointless to sneak around is also good. There's no need to crouch walk all the way to the boss lair because unless you're specifically planning an ambush of some sort, the enemy team is going to know you're nearby anyways, so just run up then sneak around if you want to go quiet and rotate.

    • @golgariplague4746
      @golgariplague4746 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Instead i would say: use a silent nagant pistol with poison rounds, it's your best weapon to kill all major pve threats and noise makers

    • @Blaarkable
      @Blaarkable ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I think this is also very important to keep in mind during combat. Yes, sneaking up on people is very strong, but if they already know exactly where you are, trying too carefully to not make sounds will make you a slower target. If you need to reposition because you are too exposed but you'd set off birds, just do it, the enemies already know where you are anyway. Repositioning and quick movement in direct combat are more important than staying quiet after the fight already broke loose

      I for one struggle with attacking lairs where the players are inside. I am either too slow, or too fast, resorting in me sniping and wallbanging them, but in reality, I want to get inside the Lair a lot more than being outside risking being third partied.

    Learn the maps. The more map knowledge, the better. You'll know how to get around and you'll know how players can flank you. And that doesn't mean just knowing where the compounds are. It means knowing where the back staircase is, and where that little hole is you can shoot through. Learn where the shallow places are in the swamps. That way you can run through while other players are slogging through waist deep water.

    • @sovereigntty

      @@sovereigntty That is often the case. So, new players need to get into the habit of checking the kill view and in a later game go to that spot and check it out. But also, as they play and they see a hole in a wall, look through it and see what they can see. The more they do those two things, the more likely they are to win fights and survive a map.

    If you’re brand new, shoot everything to get a feel for how guns work I general. This should unlock the “nagant silencer” and “Winfield silencer” for purchase. Use these guns to practice shooting without causing too much sound. They give you a lot of ammunition so you don’t have to feel like you’re running out or giving away your position too much until you’re comfortable with shooting

    Good tip:
    Just because you’re extracting doesn’t mean you’re safe.
    Any hunter can run inside the zone and prevent you from extracting. Boats are often more safe, but horse caravans can be easily rushed.

    • @goddamndoor
      @goddamndoor ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I'm late to this but I want to add that while boats are safer in being rushed, they give you a lot less cover and more open, so it's extremely dangerous to extract on them. Always pay attention and save dark sight to know where your opponent may try to stop your extraction from

    Another tip for solo players - use positioning proactively.
    If you are bad at shooting, or you know that your enemy will outgun you in a direct combat so to say, engage them from some distance (so they can't charge you all at once) and constantly change your position. Even if it means running around the entire compound clockwise makind circles.
    If suggestions about sound are taken into account, you will be able to harass enemies long enough so they will either run out of medcits (so you can push them) or they will start making mistakes.
    ===
    And another tip on this matter - think before engaging.
    If you got lucky/skilled enough to spot enemies first, check if you are in the good position, if you have *multiple* covers to work with in case of engagement and if enemies are able to charge and push you fast. If you position is bad for an attack, if you don't have alternative covers or if the enemy is close enough to charge you (and you certainly know that you won't outgun them), it is better to let them go. They will either be killed later, or they will be engaged later so you will have an opporunity to strike them again, or you will meet them again but with different circumstances around and will be able to engage them with good conditions on your side.

    I think my biggest issue was n°2, I was always playing in fear, hiding, crouching, waiting. It made me an easy target, always the last at the boss lair, the fear made me miss my shots more than I should, made me panic and take wrong decisions. Now I changed my mindset, to be the hunter, I am surprised how much my aim improved, I rotate, I run, I play more agressively and I die less, and when I die, I die trying something.
    My aim is still not good enough and I think my headset could use an upgrade, but other than that it feels much better to play the game.

  • @wvlfboyy

    I've had a lot of friends join me to play hunt over the past and there are several things I'd like to add:
    1 - Pay attention to directions. You can pretty often know where someone's gonna peak just by listening to their footsteps and sounds clues.
    2 - Be aware of positioning. This was somewhat mentioned, don't crouch in the open field, but much more, if you're in a fight don't walk out onto a path, stay closer to cover.
    3 - Learn how to rotate. Peak once, maybe twice, then rotate. I personally like to ping the spot I last saw the guy at so I can peak faster after rotating.
    4 - Sound again, USE HEADPHONES.
    5 - Dare to push. You won't improve if you just camp and hope for a lucky shot. Dying and loosing it all sucks but that's part of the game.
    6 - Learn when you can be loud. There are moments in which it doesn't matter whether you shoo up birds or trigger a horse. Sometimes it's better to be quick rather than to be stealthy.
    Extra - When the test server is up, jump on there with your friends and try to solo against each other. Lobbies are mostly empty and with self revive you'll have a great opportunity to practise hearing, sound clues, try things like left side peak (got removed if I am not mistaken?), etc.

    • @BigChimpEnergy
      @BigChimpEnergy ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes left side peek advantage has been remedied in update 1.12 by changing where the camera is on the hunter so it's more centered than it was before. The advice of "engage enemy players to get better" doesn't help because whenever I engage, I die. I've taken to just taking low tier cheap weapons because I hardly ever get a chance to fire any weapons and when I do, I die. in addition to mistake #6:
    use darksight once after picking up to check if players are around. after that only check when you moved like at least 100m from your position to see if anything has changed.
    if your staying inside the bosslair because youre all surrounded just dont use darksight at all after you checked once unless you are really 100% going to do something after that would positively contribute to your actual situation. if youre just checking where enemies are without doing something useful its just a wasted second of empowered darksight.

  • @Alecomp
    @Alecomp ปีที่แล้ว +5

    I have something to add.
    1. When your friend(s) is down, you should think how to revive him safely as fast as it possible.. Dont go shooting with enemies, especially when they outnumber you. You play in a team!
    2. In most cases during the fight It is more safe to be inside compound or building than on open space. You can control windows/doors and it is way easier to rez inside than outside.
    3. Be with your team. Dont go too far or stay too far back to die alone.
    It is easier to think how not to die than think how to revive you.

    Literally, I was getting killed by almost anything as in I died in the most ridiculous ways and I can commit an argument on that, but then again, I became so paranoid, I barely moved.
    After so many failures, I decided to just be as defensive as possible and I just became the dude to have 5 mins to leave the games, because there were no bounties left on the map anymore.

    Awesome video!
    I'd add another big mistake that probably everybody did once or twice before getting punished, but some people just don't stop doing it, this could be sorted into the bad movement category, but it's just a bit more specific:
    If you are in a house or boss lair while banishing a boss, don't ever stay in the windows or any place that's just too open for too long!
    If you must peek a window, take a very small angle, because while you are looking at possibly 10 or 20 spots to be killed from, your killer only has to look at a few windows or cracks and will probably spot you first most of the time. Every time you peek try to move around while doing so to not be an easy target while searching for players!
    After being a bit better, try to bait shots before shooting back, people are no harm to you while they are reloading their gun.
    But then the other important part, also don't just camp while looking at nothing, take those smart peeks on key locations (you'll learn where people tend to be, with time) because if you don't, you might get surprised by some random sneaky shotgun player.

    Biggest tip for me: The aim point (for all weapons) is NOT the center of the screen, but the hipfire crosshairs ARE in the center.
    I’m not saying to dot your screen (some people consider this soft cheating), but you have to know that the aim point for hipfire is the same screen pixel as for ADS, which is *below* where the game shows you it is in hipfire. For most (single) pistols it’s (close to) the top of the 6:00 tick, but that’s not guaranteed.

Or maybe they were, the problem is behind a pc people can use all cheats they want. Why do players who play amazingly suck at local tournaments or don't even show up. Look at nadia from cod for example, her performance on the tournament reveals that, and she's not the only one. One thing is scanning the boss. Once you've got all 3 clues and the boss locatio is revealed, quickly tap your minimap on and off.
    Zoom in on the reticle, this is the boss location in real-time. If the reticle moves around that means a team is likely fighting boss but using melee weapons quietly.

      The main difference is definitely a bit of skill gap and more "Meta" weapons being used like "mosin Avto/Dolch, regular Mosin Nagant, Lebel, King and Crown especially Uppercuts. Imo it's not THAT much of a huge difference compare to 3 stars the ONLY and main difference i have seen from my games are just players running meta weapons. The skill game is pretty much the same for 5-6.

They don't just hide or sniper rat. That said, you will also see the super meta loadouts more often, too. But I still see them very frequently at 5 star. I personally feel like most 5 star players have similar game knowledge as 6 star players. Sometimes, even better game knowledge.

If your teammates are in a shootout you quickly have to do something. If not the whole team gets easily wiped one by one. They come for you then anyways and you will die a very frustrating death.

Sure, it may be the first gun you get and the most basic but most pro players still use it because its generally a good gun and can be used for almost every loadout. Once you are comfy enough, find a gun to your liking and repeat the process.

    I would also say, practice being quiet as much as possible, by using the right traits. Silent Killer, poacher, whispersmith, light foot once you have them available. I assume that there's someone around. I normally use silent weapons, hand cross bow with a poison loadout and the vetterli silencer with fire ammo. That's just me.
    Also, bosses have weakness. Some are immune to poison, some are not. So you can kill them by kiting them into poison clouds. Just make sure you have an antidote active.
    Also when starting, other teams can start (if I remember) 150m radius of you. Also, burn bodies. Solo players can have necromancer, that allows them to rez after 10 secs. Grab a lantern (save your consumables if you can) and burn them. You never know if they're gonna get back up. I try to do this to most hunters, if they have a partner it may cause them to panic to get their partner up and make a mistake.
    Alert trip mines near barrels will make them explode instantly if they're triggered. Also, fire ammo will do the same thing to them. Poison ammo will not. Normal ammo will make them go Boom after a few secs. I've killed many people by getting too close to red barrels and myself when using a knife killing Ai....just a FYI on that one.

    Honestly I think recommending Quick Play to players isn't a great idea. Yes it's "free" but the fact that there are so many "groups" of players means that it's much more likely to get sniped from someone a new player almost certainly will have very little chance of noticing. Not to mention new players won't know how to rush the wellspring effectively, and thus will almost never get it themselves - and will almost certainly get quickly killed off when trying to siege the player carrying it out of inexperience. Bounty Hunt gives less chance of encountering other groups (letting new players learn more about the enemies, ways to spot enemy players, etc) and also gives new players a safe way to escape after finding some clues and getting some exp if they aren't confident enough to push a base for a bounty. A handful of Bounty Hunt matches that amount to "observe what other players do, get a few bounties, kill some NPCs, then extract if you can't safely get a bounty" can pay for a cheap newbie loadout and get them a hunter with a few skills.

    Life or death only depends on if my hunter has no white or bright grey clothing but is perfectly camouflaged with dark green dark brown and black clothing, and if I see the enemy first lurking behind a window over the boss room....

    When you need go somewhere, you need to be fast and sometimes it is unavoidable to make noice but it is still possible use sound as bait to those kill hungry players or afkers in compounds
    Moment they heard crows, dog cage or horse they just change position and aim there but this is why i take decoys nowadays when has been a rise of afkers in certain compounds to a point that it is really annoying
    So just bait them to swap position they just are easy pray and it is always those same locations
    Like come on if boss is other side of a map they still wait at port reeker (as example but still pretty common place where afkers go) and boss is at davant or slaughterhouse, they still wont move, they wait there till 5 min evacuation timer comes up then they move, normally they sit there with mosin sniper or sparks sniper, vetterli silencer with high velocity bullets, maybe with centinnial sniper in rare ocations but still possible

    This is all excellent base level advice for the game. Interestingly enough through my experience even applying all in which you had said and more, the game in the sense, is still a level of; Who has better aim, The pc build in which you use (More frames, faster application of action a.k.a priority), overall team composition, and cheats. And a hint of luck. These IMO are also obstacles. Hunt is fun. The 6 Stars I firmly believe are born with a gift. You have it, or you don't. You can still achieve a level of success however. - Realism approach by a dedicated Hunt Player.
    Edit: The game uses proximity chat and you cannot talk when you're downed. Other teams will hear you. When you're downed your teammates cannot hear you. If you're on a discord or other chat platform, you can give your team key advice about: who killed you, what they used, where and how far they were. The game tells you this. And if you're in a private chat (Not In Game Chat) You can literally tell them all those things. And give your team a key advantage to fight or revive you. This in essence is massive. Granted I've had games where chatting accomplished nothing. Either way every advantage serves you better in the bayous.
    (Yes you can say Im bad, then I might be lacking in some of the areas @Rachta Z or I have mentioned. Either way I apply all of these game senses. And actively practice.

    1. Try all weapons through time so you know how they work. Not because you have to play them but you will play against them. Many times, it happened that enemies are pushing into buildings with Sparks Sniper or they tried to kill me with a shotgun in open field at 40+ meters range. Each weapon is useful in different situation and your gameplay should fit these situations.
    2. Teams banishing in boss lairs are most vulnerable during banish, not after it. During banish, there is a lot of sound, they don't have white/red blinking boss indication and they don't have Dark sight boost yet. Sitting and camping outside waiting for banish to end and then push inside against DSB legal "wallhack" is way too difficult.
    3. Always put your melee tool and medkit to the same slot so you are used to the key bind. It's stupid when you got hit, you desperatly need healing and you have to find your medikt with mousewheel losing time.

    My favorite tip for newbies is the zombie killing progression.
    STAGE ONE: Kill every zombie you see so that you can kill them in your sleep. It's pretty easy, but there are little things like the head wobble on grunts, figuring out how to melee kill a zombie without alerting it... experiment! I can particularly recommend running the silenced winfield for this, as it lets you practice shooting zombies without drawing hunters to your position. (NOTE: the silenced winnie is pretty trash in PvE)
    STAGE TWO: STOP AGGROING EVERY ZOMBIE. They make a TON of noise. I don't have any numbers on sound audibility, but I've often managed to ambush other hunters by just noticing a grunt, armored, or hive scream. You can evaluate this by shooting a zombie from >50m with a silence gun and seeing how audible they are to you.
    Second favorite lesson... learn to play aggressively, sometimes. You don't always need to play aggressive, but knowing how to push is critical to success as you run up the ranks. I can particularly recommend using a Romero shotgun and pistol to practice this, since you can't really hang back with that loadout. This helps with mistake #2.
    Third favorite lesson... use your throwables! My recommended tactic for training this:
    1) Always bring a basic dynamite stick
    2) Throw it at an enemy hunter the first chance you get
    Is this a good way to use throwables? No. But it will train your brain to remember them. Be sure to repeat this training regimen with hunters that have the PITCHER trait.. it really changes the game for throwables! Once you've cemented this habit, exercise discretion with the throwable timing. A good combo is: tag them with a gun so they run to cover to heal, then use the throwable to flush them out or kill them.
