Great video! I have a Marchant EB9, but the drum has swelled quite a bit and the fiber gear is missing teeth. I'm considering 3D printing a gear and seeing if it will hold up. Marchant machines are my favorite, I'm dying to see my Deci-magic come to life but it's such a complicated machine.

thanks, Ive done the drum repairs on several machines but I dont think Ive seen a damaged fiber gear in these. One of the fiber gears forms part of the slip clutch that protects the machine if it jams (its a smooth slip though, not the ratcheting kind like the Fridens have). Good luck with the 3D printing, these machines are cool/fun so definitely worth it. I have a few videos on the early silent speed machines, not sure if theyd have info that would be useful on a Deci-magic. I still havent figured out the division control on the silent speeds, everthings packed so dense in it you cant really tell anything thats going on. My approach with them so far has been to clean what I can see, oil everything, and hope for the best

@@bss1250 Yeah, I'm hoping a 3D printed piece will serve as a backup for if the slip clutch fails or something. Yep, your videos have been incredibly helpful in getting some of my other Marchant machines going! I've loosened up quite a lot on the Deci-magic, but it's stuck in some part of the multiplication cycle. I think the deci-magic is the final boss of calculators, it's incredibly packed and dense. Worse than any other Marchant, worse than the Monroe IQ lol. I've actually got two of them now, I got lucky and found another one last year but I haven't gotten around to tackling it yet. I need to tear the covers off both side by side and look around. Externally it looks more grimey than the other one I failed at getting going agian lol. I just want to get one of them running lol, then give the other to you or something.
