100k markup is insane!
It really is out of control TBH!
Zed R1 is great car
@@mvp1116 not here in Hawaii Servco they won’t mark it up. The Z06’s are going for MSRP. Thank God!.
Dealers who mark up should be boycotted and go out of business.
Actually, it’s already happening.👍
Keep it up everyone!
Who is dumb enough to pay $100K over?! Did people not learn their lesson over the last 1-2 years?!
I can't afford it under msrp, but damn the rear is Camaro.
$300k with a Camaro rear???😂
TH-camrs the ones not responsible enough to get this at the mark up. When the c8 came out it was listed at 100-115k. Now you can get brand new at msrp.
@@violent_bebop9687 I've been saying the rear is square and camaro looking for years, since before the stingray was released. Surprised to see this comment.
ZR1 enthusiasts will not care about price as long as they are the 1st ones to get it
Bro, dealers cant give away C8s , they go for under MSRP new@@africandude7583
192k not bad for the price and hp. But add another 100k for markups? Hell no.
I hope the dealerships that mark this stuff up go out of business.
Dodge.
Will not pay the mark up.. I’ll wait, and I really wish GM would punish the dealers doing it as they said they would
These price tags are getting outrageous.
That’s straight up robbery 😂
You better believe it!
This car deserves a markup ONLY if it can prove itself at 24 Le Mans in a 1-2-3 finish!
Nah it’s a deal compared to the 600k GT3RS
I pray for the day to come where dealerships are a thing of the past. All they do is f everything and everyone!
Well said my friend. 😆👍
You are absolutely right and their service is worst than aftermarket shops.
For big jobs, I only ever go to my independent mechanics and avoid stealerships.
Those stealership workers’ previous jobs were at taco bell.
They are the worst in terms of service, I swear they get most of them straight out of Votec / high school .
Stealerships only do what the buying public allows. That's called capitalism. Blame the idiots that actually pay the 100k over, not the stealership.
I'd take this over a GTD any day.
I'm a Mustang fan, but those GTDs are hideous, and the price is ridiculous for what you get. The ZR1 would smoke it and you would still save thousands.
@@jeff-ds2pr can't wait to see the nurburgring time for the ZR1. You may not like the looks of the GTD but the fact of the matter is it's the fastest American car to ever lap the ring
@@DibeezyTheGifted The ZR1 is lighter, has more HP, is mid engine and built for the track, the GTD is still just a pony car on steroids. Maybe I'm wrong, but I'll put my money on the ZR1.
@@jeff-ds2pr to be honest I think the ZR1 will best it as well. GTD is still impressive but the ZR1 takes it up a notch I believe.
@jeff-ds2pr The GTD is most definitely not just a Mustang on Steroids. It literally shares if I remember correctly only a couple of parts from a regular Mustang. Which I believe was the doors and the roof. The GTD is nothing more than a purpose built race car that Ford decided to sell. It is also hand-made on a niche production line. People can aglrgue the price all day but if the GTD had a badge from any European manufacturer no one would bat an eyelash at its price.
From base model to ZR1......Chevy has it covered. This color combo is sharp. Thanks Joe.
I think Corvette does their best to keep their prices low and the car is worth it. Just ceramic breaks alone cost over $20,000 and this car is one of the fastest cars ever created. The question I have is how does it hold up? How would it do in Le Mans?
"A fool & his money are soon parted" is appropriate for anyone who pays anything more than MSRP for these cars
Love this car! I had a C8 Stingray and enjoyed it and could only imagine where Chevrolet was gonna take this BEAST. Love the videos Joe, you are living The Dream Brother 🫡
Thanks for letting me share the cars and car passion with you!
And that is why these things will depreciate. I see many C8s for sale.

Not even remotely on his radar with all the other important things in front of the president. Also not really under the authority of the white house to do that.
I know this is a "one off", but the first C8 ZR1 with VIN -001 just sold for 3.5 million at auction. Crazy!
Look at the Z06 dealers used to ask for 50k markup now you can easily find discounts on any Z06 trims
Impressive sight to behold, especially in white. The wheel and tire package fits like a glove. This car has big power and performance numbers to go with its stellar looks. It is indeed a legit and formidable sports car. Awesome coverage and content Joe and Steven.
They’ll pump out less than 500 ZR1’s in 2025 if we’re lucky.
Perhaps, but paying the mark up on a car that GM said they would produce as many as are wanted is just stupid. But someone will just too have one of the first on the street. Then, once the novelty wears off, they will sit unsold, just like all the Z06's that are out there.
Love your content man. You’re very knowledgeable and that makes it even more fun. Im hoping to get a ZR1 in 26 with out the mark up.
Worth MSRP

Excellent review sir. You're the best in the business
Do you think they should have done more to differentiate the ZR-1 from the other C 8's?
Do you think Porsche should have done more to differentiate the GT2 from the 911 turbo?
This is an iteration on the same platform. Different aero, radically different front package. Very much the same as Porsche's formula for the 911, GT3 and GT2
Yeah like round tail lights. These look hideous. Actually the whole car looks hideous. But many like the looks. Can't please everyone...
Oh man the Eray is definitely clocking 2.2-2.4 consistently to 60.
If I Was Rich I Wouldn't Mind Paying 100K Extra I Think The New ZR1 is Sweet
Looks like a Z06 with a bigger wing.
That's what it is. Like a 911 GT3 and GT2.
@@cardude1992nowhere near 911
Just like the '19 C7 ZR1 looked like a C7 Z06 with a slightly different looking front end & a huge wing if just talking about appearance.
@@Boosted.g I wasn't comparing them but since you made an annoying Porsche fan boy comment I'll let you know that both the Z06 and ZR-1 are faster than the 911 GT3 on most racetracks.
The C6 generation ZR1 was available from 2009-2013 btw
Thanks for the intel!
People that have more money than brains will love this car
Absolutely love it!!
With 1067 HP I wish they would’ve made the rear area like it has 1067 HP .
Love this review Joe. Peter, aka, The Man of Few Words. 😁 Save the Wave 🙋♂
boy i glad that joe is putting in the work
Excellent review Joe, as always loved the ZR1 history lesson and the passion!
A beautiful vehicle with the performance to compete/beat the world's best exotics.
While a lot of money, however as you mentioned for the performance and what you're getting, including instant sports car royalty still a relative bargain (without large stealership mark-ups). Kudos to the Corvette team, doing the American auto industry proud. However I wouldn't trust my average/local Chevy stealership to properly maintain/work on it.
I used to think dealers were crazy for marking up cars by 6 figs, but rich people will pay it.
*Idiots.
Remember the GT500 commercial where the guy ships it to Germany? Yeah, that's what needs to be done with this car so one could really drive it like it was meant to be driven. In the states you'll just go to jail and lose your car! So NO!!
Dream car right here.
My dream car
I’ll take a 300k ZR1 over a 600k GT3RS any day!!
I'd NEVER pay any mark-up for ANY vehicle that will ultimately depreciate in time. I'll stick to my long paid for 2004 Z16 Z06. 6,300 miles and counting.
🤮
You’re not driving it 😂
@@Danactivo😂😂😂
That’s a garage queen 😢
@ I drive it hard, 1/4 of a mile at a time.
Awesome job Joe!
100k markup is a serious kick in the canards.
Even with markups it’s beyond worth it. Period. This car has the materials just justify the price. And it’s still far cheaper than anything that’s as fast not a Tesla PLAID. Even some hypercars can’t hang. So again when you see the price for something to beat this car. It’s a no brainer
❤
I think when you buy a car like this for the price you are referring to, you are not only buying the car but the prestige that you helped your local economy and workers too. Or it should be viewed like this: locally made, so parts and labor shouldn't require anything specialty or extra import costs. I think this is the whole point in buying domestically produced items; I personally would rather buy two of these than buy one Ferrari or Lamborghini used.
Great video! Time for the C4 ZR1 review! I know its coming 😊
Is that the one with the 383 motor? That was badass.
@@lspence6810 no. None of them came factory with a 383. That is a bored and stroked small block, .030 over and the same 3.75" crankshaft from a 400, vs the standard 3.48" crank. This was a very easy to perform upgrade to the standard 350 that any machine shop could perform and later the aftermarket simply manufactured a 3.75" crank with the correct main journal size so no welding and machining as with the factory 400 crank
the 4th generation ZR1 used a heavily modified design based off the standard SBC, but it was a DOHC rather than OHV. The engine was manufactured by Mercury Marine which has the skills and equipment at the time to make an aluminum block based on this design, and co developed with Lotus which had been research on the ground up design of a DOHC V8 and understood how to make the heads flow better than GM did at the time. It was still 5.7ltrs and used a unique dual injection system, 8 for normal operation and 8 for high power demand.
Markups are going away… finally. May start with them but I don’t see them lasting long. GT3 price and ZR1 both had price adjustments to make ADM less realistic. Of course you’ll have some guys who pay it …. Z06 at/below MSRP would be an easy choice if they demand over sticker for ZR1
C8 pricing is nuts! It’s still hard to find a used 2020 (5 years old now, mind you) selling under the brand new MSRP.
Yes, wait for this Corvette ZR1 C8 to depreciate, not vice versa, and then you could buy one. Every time someone (doesn't matter who) says C8 Corvette, C8 ZR1 or C8 Corvette ZR1 (or C# Corvette), the price will go up.
you can find used C8s with the Z51 package for under MSRP all day. I've even seen 3LT packaged cars coming down into the low $70k range when the MSRP for those optioned cars was $85k and up. Use autotemptest to find them
At least GM doesn’t force you to buy 10 other cars you don’t want 😂 *cough *cough Ferrari and Porsche
Seeing tha Habanero interior would have been nicer than finally seeing you wearing a coat :)
The answer is HELL NO!
But a day without "on-throttle" is a day without sunshine.
The 100K dealer markup of the Z06 turned out to be a bad idea.

Good luck buying a GT3 RS at msrp. They make you buy several Porsches just to get your name on the list. A list they can’t even guarantee. Then they mark it up
Can't wait for a test drive....at 233 of course....LoL
They can charge whatever they want, the comparable Ferrari and Lambo are likke 700k-1mil lol
C6 ZR1 was 2009-2013 so FIVE years NOT two Joe..
At the marked up price it better beat the GTD mustang around the ring.
It’s going to be $300 k after dealer gouge!!!
Absolutely worth it, it is a 'vette! $100K is better spent on this ride, than on some electric/hybrid X jellybean ride!
Joe, 70 pounds is a bunch when it's as high up as it is. That must raise the CG significantly. This is why the big brands have carbon roofs, trunks and hoods.
Did you get a GTD allocation?
Must be nice to have so much money you can just pay triple the price for anything and not care, meanwhile im just trying to buy hamburger and eggs without feeling like i been robbed
Obviously very few people can afford it but the ones that can getting a steal.
Knew those bastard dealers would make it $300k
Harley Earl is rightfully considered the true “father” of the Chevrolet Corvette, while Zora Arkus-Duntov is the man who turned it into a true sports car.
And after 67 years, the name is attached to.......this
Let's see how many are going to be sold and how many will remain in the lots...hey wait I think 1 is sold already to Jay Leno . 😆👍
No. You should be able to buy the car directly from the manufacturer at no mark up.
Tesla dealership model, is so the way to go. F these stealerships!
ZR1, it’s gonna end up costing more than the GTD LOL.
No, I will be waiting to get it at MSRP. Currently on a MSRP list just have to be patient.
Why should a dealer make an extra $100k for doing nothing????
WOW 345 out back!! 4:17
Hi Joe , when are you going to drive that beauty.regards
How many engines will they have to replace??
Hopefully none.
Seriously, F dealers, they just screw consumers either on the buy or service, you name it.
All the people talking shit about z06, but good luck finding a zr1! I'll be blasting down the roads in my 2024 z07
No car is EVER worth the dealer markup...
Relax people, it’s not even on sale yet. These will probably go for 20-30k markup the first year or so. Even with that, it’ll technically still a value given its performance vs. some of the competition. But I’d never pay a markup…
is that the fast version?
Joe why would you ever want them to offer it in a coupe only. The Targa is fixed until you choose to remove it! Seems like it would be a wasted option.
Remember the 1,200lbs down force from ZTK rear wing is only at top speed.
I'll tell you what I would do I would buy a regular C8 put a supercharger in it and put a body kit on it on it and whatever other upgrade you want for less than half the price🎉
Probably can get them below MSRP most places now. Stingray V8 sounds great and the car still scoots pretty good. BBK and wheels, maybe seats and then good to go!!
I hope by late 2026 or 2027 that price will be in the mid 60,000$ range.🙏🏾
😂😂
You can get a "used" C8 for $50,000 if you look.
Corvettes have always been my favourite, but this seems like an awful lot of power to put to the rear wheels only. Maybe if they do end up making the Zora or whatver, I anticipate this engine with an eray front drivetrain.
And no, its not worth paying 100k markup lol
Joe, I understand you were a HS History teacher however, you always say "like I said" it's "As I Said. I love your channel

Honestly if production is the same as the last few ZR1’s this will be a $200k+ car all day long for many years to come, used new whatever.
Wait until the next generation porsche turbo s comes out!
I know that’s the equivalent to a shit ton of money, but I can picture one in a Nardo gray with no stripes this exact interior and I want the targa not the convertible
$100k markup on a car that will depreciate like crazy 😬
Have you seen the valuations of the C7 ZR1 lol
It will quickly depreciate with the first title and beyond...
Na, not if you baby it. Usually when you buy these cars, you’re not daily driving it.
@@rowlandramos4188 Go to the Corvette forum and I think you will find a different opinion. I'm not saying all Vette owners drive an insane amount of miles, but most drive them regularly.
Also, Jay Leno has often mentioned how Vette owners talk about how many miles they have on their cars and Ferrari owners talk about how few miles they have on their cars. Doesn't matter if Sting Ray, Z06 or ZR1.
I agree, if you baby it it won't depreciate as much, but it will still depreciate. Depends how long you keep it and if it becomes a classic collector vehicle, so with that you have a point.
And unfortunately it's still a suck GM product
