This game really does feel like a tipping point in the P2W era of games, a game so brash by a company so well-known that it cannot really be ignored. It is not enough to bring down an industry on its own, but it may very well be seen as a turning point in how predatory games like this are viewed in the future by lawmakers.

Yeah, I gave it go a on PC, but its a really bad PC game. Crashed 2 times on intro quest (level 11), poor graphics thats maybe worse than Diablo 3, and clunky combat compared to Diablo 3. Felt like a indie ARPG...To bad it abuses the Diablo name. But hey if this is a good mobile game there must be some turd out on appstores.

Many such games go under the radar since they are made by unknown developers and only a niche whale audience likes it. Now that a company like Blizzard dipped their toes in the market, now people talk a lot more about it. Look at games like League of Angels. Pure cash grab off of whales. (yes I was also one of those who spent money on that game and I would never go back)

The game is on rails. They took all the randomization of items and worlds and flushed it, flushed experimentation, and fun. They took the imagination from the game.

Instead they specifically removed everything that made it magical. Down to exactness in item drops from p2p screen. I was amazed by these choices by the devs, considering people STILL play D2, you’d think real greed would be copying those elements that invest a player into a world with that spontaneous quality to it, a spontaneity you can drive strategically.

@@martinlatour9311 In my opinion, you are wrong. Imagine he spent just, say, 30-60$. People who play mobile games spend way more and would say - is that really what it is? And still fall for the loot box narrative. Let's say he spent 500$. Some of the players with more sense than proclivity to spend money on mobile games might say - "Hey that's not for me. That's too much." Seeing him spend over 2000$ and getting barely anything of use for that amount of money, though, sends a very strong message - especially seeing the pain of putting the proverbial 25$ "coin" (I wish it was a quarter) into the slot machine, and then another, and then another, and then another... Just to get a 4 star useless gem after over a 1000$ in. Would you play this game after seeing all this? This is how you send a message and truly show the entire situation. Granted, not everyone would watch those 5-6 hours of footage over the past few days, though.

To those questioning what you're doing here... it's difficult to say Opium is bad without showing an Opium Den and it's effects long term. THAT is what he's doing here, showing you exactly how much $$ you have to put into the game to satisfy that copium need.
Ultimately, 1 person (Asmongold) putting in the money to highlight the problem to discourage others, gives Blizzard MUCH LESS MONEY than 50, 500, 50000 people doing the same thing before they realize it's a problem. He's not promoting the game... he's highlighting a problem.

@@knighter1209 I guess you'd need to show me examples to fully gauge the difference. I've generally seen three types of videos:
      1) The Extreme -- usually him satirically playing the role of an "OMG I'm totally gonna get it next" fan forking out thousands of dollars in an effort to illustrate that you'll waste those thousands of dollars with either no real change to the game, or results that are ONLY achievable by going broke... one extreme or the other, both completely unhealthy.
Example: Diablo - willfully trying to take your rent for a gamble opportunity at greatness which never comes. Intentionally engineered to prey on mental weakness, take your rent and put you on the street with nary a care for the long-term player.
      2) The Pain in the Ass -- Railing against companies with little to no creativity in a side-hustle or who ignore other aspect of their game that desperately need attention, repetitively doing the same crap because it works and they just keep doing it to make a little more money. "Lazy Shit Dev Syndrome."
Example: WoW or Star Citizen - absolutely milking the reskin of a mount model or function. offering 20 different colors or variations on the same mount for $40/piece, or in the case of SC a new ship with very much the same function as another for $400... and doing this while the main core of the game suffers.
      3) The Minor Itch -- Not giving a crap about folks who occasionally spend a little $$ to buy a neat cosmetic or other non-altering item to the game.
Example: FFXIV or Fall Guys - While still noting his displeasure of the store model, doesn't fully rail against it noting they at least offer some variety while doing very little -if any- harm to the actual game.
There's not a one-an-done opinion here, just shades of shit. The occasional side-hustle of companies trying to make a little extra development cash
      -- VS --
those who intentionally neglect or PREY on their customers attempting to put your rent into their pocket and put you on the street with nary a care.
      (1) is toxic and a poison (imho) to the industry
      (2) is neglectful of player interests, while they may see short gains, they'll lose their players in the long run... unfortunate for games with potential.
      (3) is just a minor nuisance of choice... to have bling or not...
So yea.... shades. You'll have to show me an example of him outright debunking any arguments, I don't recall any, but present them and I'll consider changing my mind.

      @@GargoyleEmperor fair enough.
In the video "Diablo Immortal: Asmongold Reacts to REAL Pay-To-Win Blizzard Has For Us"
Zack explains, in detail, how content creators talking about the issue of p2w in Diablo Immortal are useless. He opines that there is no way that himself, the people he reacts to, the people in his fanbase, could possibly make a change in the industry considering just how many people don't watch content about the games they’re playing (normies, if you will).
What I am saying is: if he believes that talking about p2w will not do anything, will not promote change, then there is no way that him spending $2k on Diablo Immortal in the 4 (I think 4) videos he's made playing the game will do anything either.
Simply, Zack can't reach a large enough audience for it to matter.
I also take issue with what he thinks the definition of insanity is. That "definition" was popularized because Albert Einstein (a physicist, not a psychologist) said it once. The actual definition of insanity is completely different and has been different for decades (tbh I don't think that was the definition in the first place). It's a little narcissistic to deny facts without knowing them himself so he can "prove" a point.

So many games I have found that prey on people so seemingly give them benefit over other players by digging into their wallet for a inflated advantage, or at least the appearance of one. It only serves to show their incompetence. Not just when it comes to gaming, but incompetence in financial skills in real life. Absolutely ridiculous! The people saying Asmong is encouraging these games by streaming and paying for it are completely off base. None of Asmon's audience are stupid enough to see this video and think he is endorsing this. • @overheadcam

He's absolutely right about this method of advertising how bad these systems are. Anyone considering spending 5, 10, 15 dollars in the game probably won't bother now, after seeing that it will be meaningless. Even after spending hundreds he was getting shafted on loot. I'll never understand the amount of people in chat not getting what Asmon is doing with his playthrough, "you're helping them"... dude... he's showcasing the P2W aspect of the game with a spending counter right above his head... And he just did a whole showcase with OTK of Indie games... giving prize money to the developers that won a popularity contest on his chat...
It's so easy to strip every single nuance and point being made because he's "playing it" he's not gonna change the mind of the people that are spending money on this game, but he might as well show it to the rest so that they are at least aware of the predatory aspect of it... from DAY ONE when he said "It's an 800% value! I'm losing money if I don't buy it"... you didn't notice the sarcasm???
