So sorry about your husband, I lost my husband 15yrs ago but it seem like yesterday he also loved gardening, he was so proud of his lawn (he reminded me of Aaron) I was not to touch it. Gardening helps me with my grieving and God.

I planted 20 tomato plants this year (3 6-packs, and 2 had bonus plants). I planted lots of cucumbers too! Here's hoping for an awesome harvest for us all!!

I think this is one of the main reasons her following keeps growing....she is absolutely so relatable to all of us. We were suppose to move next month, and it got pushed back. I swore I was not going to buy any summer annuals so I don't have to move them....last week went to a farmers market that was selling PW for $4 a pot....walked out with 11 plants 😅

And you know what, it made my heart so happy to be able to do that. Like you I just love watching things grow and become these glorious plants. I'm 2 days behind on watching your videos, I've been busy with my yard, we've had rain here in the Oklahoma Panhandle USDA ZONE 6b ( Texas County) Thank you God, today we get a break from the rain so back to work on my yard. A story regarding sprawling indeterminate tomatoes.... I grew up in PA near Valley Forge. Our house was built in 1954? (not sure exact year) by 1974 there were some issues with the cesspool. My father installed a french drain after he had "dealt" with the main issues with it. After he had filled in the 20 ft long trench we planted our tomatoes. When my sister got married in August '74, we set up the reception tent next to the tomato plants. At that point we were getting good production from the plants although they were only about 3 ft tall. By the time we harvested all the tomatoes prior to the first killing frost the plants closest to the cesspool had broken the stakes and sprawled to a 6-8 ft diameter circular area. The main stems of the plants were 2" thick. The tomatoes were enormous (we had planted beefsteak) and amazing flavor. We harvested everything. We put the green tomatoes on newspaper on the ping-pong table in the basement and we had tomatoes ripening through Christmas. My grandmother also made a lot of green tomatoes pickle that year. Since I have lived in North TX (North of Dallas) the last 40 years, I've never had such a good experience with tomato growing as I did in 1974 in Pennsylvania.
Gardening has taught me patience and the joy of watching something grow from a tiny seed into a beautiful plant.
I have a 3 year old Fire Away Hot & Heavy pepper. Zone 10. I messaged Proven Winners how to winter them over and they had never done it. They told me to let them know. 😂 I treat it like a jalapeño.
L0L I think us gardeners that have been gardening for a while have usually overdone it with the seed starting! But I love it, I’m addicted!

Can confirm, the pepper thing isn't an old wives tale. Two years ago I planted sweet peppers and jalapenos near each other and those sweet peppers were so spicy. Happened to a friend as well, same year.
Your gardens look so good, can’t wait to see how you develop this new property. Here in south of MA we got a freezing alert last night! We had to cover and bring plants in. Our weather is just crazy, we usually have the 4 seasons in one week.

Tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, and basil! It can’t get any better than that! I’m going to have to do some research on how many emitters you can run at a time. I know I overdid it and have to reconfigure the zones in my garden. It may be time to switch to drip tape! Thanks again for all your hard work, inspiration, and all you do!

Laura, I live in South Jordan Utah and you are exactly right about how calcium can't be easily released from the soil and used by tomatoes, peppers and I am even thinking potatoes, since they are in the same family. Calcium has to be added. When I did that last year, I had no blossom end rot like all the previous years. I am pretty much an organic gardner and have chickens. I started saving the shells and after drying, I blend them in a high speed blender, which turns them into powder. I add about a half cup to the soil in each plant. It works! Thanks for the tremendous information you provide. I also have a Heartly Botanical plant house that was put in last summer. Its been so much fun. We put geothermal under the plant house and it really works to keep things more temperate all year. I have been watching your shows for at least a year. Great work to you and Aaron!

I noticed my tomato plants that I planted 2 weeks ago already have messed up leaves on the bottom and I heard you say don’t let the bottom leaves touch the ground so I ran out to my garden and cut them off! 🙏 this is my first year doing tomatoes so I’m praying I caught it in time! If you get a lot of rain where you live, it’s more important. I live in Laura’s area, where we get very little rain and we don’t really deal with diseases on tomatoes much.

We're also planting in a previously unused part of our property. We've spent the last few months clearing trees and grinding stumps. It'll be interesting to see how our crops do in the soil. Several years of leaf litter decaying on it has probably been beneficial😁

I agree with just leaving the big tomato bushes alone. It’s really worked for me. I have problems with splitting and this was so helpful to remind me to set a timer to water every few days. I’ve noticed a difference in growth and taste when planting tomatoes in the same spot each year and have to switch it up.

When do you use a solid poly tubing vs. flexible tubing for irrigation? You or someone, maybe Paul or Bethany, should do a class at the garden center. I would take that class. It just seems intimidating. I’m a show me hands on girl.

Open pollinated tomato plants are plants you can save seed from. They will grow true, regardless of whether they are heirloom or not. The only tomato seeds that won't grow true if you save them are hybrids or F1 etc.
So many fun varieties! I'm only growing a couple varieties this year but I'm looking forward to exploring many varieties in the future and comparing them 😍😄🎉. The new pepper variety you chose looks like the fruit is going to be so cute!

You absolutely can still gather seeds from hybrid tomatoes. Even though you won't get the hybrid tomato again, you'll still get an edible tomato!
