Very good video mate! I am about to do the same with my Z18XE. Only thing I can`t decide yet is should I just replace the whole head or just the two exhaust valves on Cylinder 1 that are causing me a headache. Would be really nice if you had video on replacing valves too. Good job!
@@killawattgarage Do you always machine the face of the head if you take it from a wreck or you just inspect it for visible faults and use it as it is?

It's quite easy to do with the engine in place, however there is one hose behind the alternator/inlet manifold that is a real pain! Its much better to take the time to take the inlet manifold off first to give better access to the whole job. Thanks for the question.
You will need an E-Torq socket. Can't remember the exact size but if you're working on your Astra you will need a range of different size E-Torq socket anyway. Cheers

Replacing the whole head is a better option but more costly. Typically I like to all the exhaust values even if only one has pitted or burnt.

@@galindimitrov2590 If removed from a good engine no need to resurface but check for flatness just to be sure.
@@killawattgarage only the head needs to be resurfaced? how do i clean the top of the engine block? And what gasket brand do you recommend?

Yes I always remove them in stages at little at a time. I follow the reverse order of the tightening sequence.
