Vagabond to me speaks tons of how we all tend to run around looking for deeper meanings or for things we think can push us above our own level of existence, thinking that can truly make us happy, and in the end makes you realize how simple everything really is: it's all about you and yourself, it's all about your inner peace, You don't need to look anywhere else but at someone that has always been there with you, and that someone is yourself. Don't be driven by false idols like violence, jealousy, hatred, at the end of those there's only only a void. Focus on the only thing that in the end really matters, which is the peace of your inner self.

Personally, Vagabond is literally the best manga of all time. It resonates with many teens in the way that can help them to become better. As for me, this manga is about fighting against your anger and understanding the value of life, but not only your own one, yet the value of other people’s lives. The main character is not fictional one, as Guts or Thorfin for example, he’s the *real* person living in the *real* world and dealing with the *real* problems, it is the second reason why I find this manga to resonate with me and others

It’s interesting how gardening in anime/manga is shown as some sort of a path to peace, happiness and fulfillment.
Vinland Saga also has the same beliefs, even a scene from evangelion 3.0+1.0 shows rei actually helping the village and it’s people with trying to stay alive.
I guess it’s about going outside, touching grass, and actually building connections with people over the shared goal and making something grow to feed you actually gives you a sense of fulfillment, seeing something you put sweat and tears into now growing to be this beautiful source of food.

In Vinland Saga, when Thorfinn and Einar were clearing trees, it was also like starting a new chapter in their lives. You need to clear everything out first before you cultivate. You need to empty your cup to learn something new.

I really admire Vagabond for how they pursue the themes to see beyond the goals that one sets for oneself. It captures the essence of why go through harsh struggles and setbacks, knowing that one day we will all wither away, possibly even tomorrow. It's not about when you die, but how you live. Are you struggling for something solely for money and other materialistic assets, or because it's a part of you? Youre not living the life , YOU are the life

Vagabond and Vinland Saga both have impacted my way of thinking so much. I remember reading Vinland Saga and being so numb with my thoughts, and then watching the anime, with that soundtrack... I don't think anything has made me think so deeply and philosophically besides Vagabond.
I noticed a huge shift in myself after the ending of the first season of Vinland Saga. I think the anime does the manga so much justice. I hope we can get a decent anime of Vagabond some day... It wont be easy, but the way they did Vinland Saga gives me hope. Some of the parts in S2 I thought wouldn't be animated properly.

Vinland Saga’s anime gives me hope for all Seinen manga. Out of the big 4, two have had *horrible* adaptations, being Kingdom and Berserk. So I had lost hope of any of these manga getting good adaptations, but with Vinland Saga’s being so good, maybe they’ll get another chance. And ofc, maybe Vagabond can get one.

I was in therapy one day and my therapist did an exorcise that very much this. He drew some circles and labled them things that I loved, and hated. Things that drove me, and things that drove me mad. Each time he would ask me what do I see? I gave an answer. But then he'll hand the paper back to me, and asked again. I gave a different answer because I saw something different. We did this at least 3 more times, and each answer and response change because I kept seeing something knew. He explained using the Leaf and Trees metaphore, but added how a forest is nothing without the Trees, and the Trees are nothing without its Leaves, and vise versa. This definitely opened my eyes to the world even more and even the world in myself.

Vagabond is one of the few stories I can genuinely say made me want to be a better person. I highly suggest it to anybody if they haven't read it. To me a story about looking within oneself and realizing that all you ever need is already within you. The way Musashi, Matachi, and Kojiro all show you 3 different views of the world is beautiful along with Musashi meeting so many people and seeing parts of himself in all of them.

I can't even tell you how many times I've cried during my first readthrough, the feels within this story are truly special. Such an emotional ride it's been. I hope one day Inoue Takehiko decides to finish this story and hopefully we'll get a masterful adaptation just like Vinland Saga got so far. But the incredible art makes it really difficult to get a faithful adaption I'd imagine. Nonetheless this masterpiece is one of my favs ever, just up there with Berserk and Vinland Saga.

Read all of Vagabond in February at the beginning of this year (2023) and it’s truly a masterpiece and the best manga I’ve ever read.
In the short term it’s helped me start cultivating a growth mindset, the understanding that every person including me changes dramatically through the course of their life. I was feeling stuck in my ways: procrastinating instead of doing university work, extreme introversion due to social anxiety and a general bitterness towards life - there was no way I could see myself living 5 years from now.
Just seeing Musashi naturally grow into a better, kinder person has given me immense hope.
All this is without mentioning the countless spiritual lessons Inoue placed throughout the work. I study philosophy at university so I find that stuff really captivating and I am capable of understanding them on an academic level, but because of vagabond I feel that I must come to understand them personally.
I plan on re-reading soon to hopefully help those lessons sink in, and am beginning to meditate and exercise more to care for my body.
If you read this far thanks, I needed someone other than my girlfriend to gush about this series to. And if you have not yet read vagabond I hope you understand this comment as the largest recommendation I could possibly give. READ IT RIGHT NOW.

Especially how Musashis growth over the last few weeks is betrayed during the fight, it’s so awesome and when he recalls takuans lesson to see everything in its entirety, it was such a great scene. I was so goddamn hyped man, after finishing the vol I was like „that’s my guy man, that’s my guy musashi, tell‘em how it’s done bro“ and „he’s on another level bro, he’s literally HIM“ and was jumping around in my room, I was his hype-man😂 I probably only witnessed a single leaf of the greatness vagabond carries in its forest and I‘m so eager to get to know every single tree of this story ❤️

I'm a big fan of Berserk, so naturally I got recommendations from friends and the algorithm to read Vagabond. Thinking about it I was watching some videos like this one, and I remember thinking Is it really that good that it will "change my life"? Seeing some great things being said about it, and even managing to avoid spoilers, I started reading it this year, and boy how unprepared and unaware I was about the amazingness of this manga but also as well how has it REALLY changed myself and my life.
Firstly, yes the art is astonishing and how it aides the storytelling is whole separate discussion, but what I wanted to focus on in this comment is just how ATTACHED I grew to the characters of Musashi and Kojiro.
One of the major themes in Vagabond is change and growth, and I personally experienced a lot of it in the recent 3 years. Being a person led my a lot of hate and frustration, jealousy and envy, completely unaware of my own true nature, and feelings of love and acceptance. Willingness but inability to change led me to a critical point in my life when I even had thoughts so desperate they even contained suicide. Luckily I didn't give up, I moved, got a new job, lived alone, got through a lot of nasty things, but also a lot of hard work, which eventually led me to acquire new experiences, new people, new stuff in general. And I have changed so much that I can't even recognize how I used to be. I don't know when exactly the change happened, it's more about a process rather than an exact event, like how a tree is a sum of its leaves and a forest a sum of its trees, to put it in Vagabond's perspective.
All of that led me to become so attached to this Manga, plus the lessons I have learned from reading it proved invaluable and critical to my life and personality, it is on par with Berserk itself. It also made me even more confident in being hopeful and I can't wait to see how much more I'll grow as a person and how much more the story of Vagabond will affect my live and the way I see it.
And as for the continuation, I am sure it will eventually happen when the Master decide it is the right time for it. And if not, Vagabond is still one of the greatest gifts to Humanity even in it's unfinished state and is well worth reading through.

Amazing sometimes reading a vagabond can help us to understand life , we all the same as Musashi , we just not know that yet , progressing in life we start to search for a reason for life or search about philosophy to live on on. Every monthes or years our perspective for life change , till we found something we live on

Honestly I respect Miyomoto Musashi a lot, it’s not everyday you can meet someone who wields more then one sword and win (yes Ik short sword) I respect him alot, especially in Baki(probably not realistic) but even he was challenge for everyone in that universe because of his blind determination to be the best, no the strongest underneath the sun. That’s pure will and the power the back it up.

I thought the series was good, but I read it like 8 years ago and monthly updates. One day I will reread it but I honestly forgot about much of it, didn't leave to much of an impression on me compared to Inoue's other works Real and Slam Dunk.

Only once Musashi let other people into his life and tries to connect to them, only then does he truly become strong. The farming Ark was peak Vagabond, it was him trying to fight for other people and sacrificing his own body and health.
