Yes the mass remains the same. It is the energy that is increased.
How alkanes absorb IR radiations though they donot have dipole moment
+avuti chandramouli Only bond vibrations that result in a changing dipole moment will have an absorption band in IR. C-H bonds are very slightly polar so we will see these signals but they will never be as strong as the stretch of a C-O bond.
HOW DOES ELECTRIC FIELD CAUSES A CHANGE IN THE DIPOLE MOMENT ?? HOW DOES IT INTERACT ?
