Being that I use to be obsessed with the Clark Sisters, I remember someone from the Grand Ole church said Bishop married Karen because hes always had the top/ chief position of COGIC in his mind.
Its kind of like how Martin Luther Kings dad was pushing to get his son to be the face of SCLC and the Ebenezer church. Martins dad was a freemason in GA and he wouldn't stop at any cost to get his son at the top. The Clark sisters were Gospel royalty and marrying a sister would keep him in the spotlight cause his preaching has never done it for him.

Someone else did a video or write up on the remake of this song by myself. As I’ve grown in Christ and have become more knowledgeable of the lyrics and things I’ve remade, there’s definitely been a change in choices of music I’ve listened to and added to certain sets. 1st I never paid attention to the lyric of “casting spells”. I didn’t know they said that in this song at first. So, the word “exposed” isn’t true because I never had a hidden agenda. It was simply true ignorance of what the song said. Once I did learn of it, i agree, I was totally wrong to have used a song like that without having known the entire lyrical content and message of this song. It was a Women’s event and I was hoping to make it fun and relevant. However, my father/ shepherd has been unbiased and true in his correction. He has corrected me often with having a standard and not mixing other songs with the gospel and held true to the gospel no matter who it offended. Thank God! Also, his sermon was not toward Bishop Murphy, as he also is family to us.
These are prime examples to not believe everything you hear about others because this would have someone believe that we are intentionally in agreement with witchcraft/darkness, when in fact, we are absolutely NOT in agreement with any forms of darkness. It was an honest oversight- and simply the world seeing a consumer of music grow before their eyes without knowledge of the lyrics. Hopefully, we grow as the body and actually discern than jumping to gossip and exploitation such as this. No one ever reached out to me to inform me of the lyrics but have only tried “exposing” me, while then exposing themselves by showing that their agenda isn’t to inform the body but to exploit the body which is also works of darkness. As for some of the more appropriate songs, could this have been a fun approach as being fishers of men/ souls?! I pray we grow together with attempting to contact other believers, or praying that they gain knowledge to be aware of their choices, by way of genuine accountability. As I am an advocate for heeding correction, again no one reached out to correct me but my pastor - which in this video this man is trying to “expose”. When I’ve seen for myself, him to be a general and defender of the faith in action and in deed- including my mother. Also, some folks don’t consider the time of when it was done to see how a lot of things are simply conjured up as forms of discord and confusion. Praying for all who sit to watch these types of videos and who do videos like this. Now I ask, What’s your motive if you’ve not discerned well? The Holy Spirit would’ve informed you of my honest intent, or lack of knowledge, if your motives were pure.
TMI Kierra. All you needed to do was admit that you were wrong and that moving forward you won’t repeat that pattern of behavior of using worldly music to reach people for Christ.
No one needs you to defend your father or bishop Murphy. They are both grown men who can defend themselves.
And know that this is all in love. Sis, we freaken love you. We just don’t want you becoming like the world. Because once you get caught in it, it’s easy to get lost in it too. No one is out to attack you. Don’t interpret this calling you out as a witch hunt by any means. It’s just that you’re held to higher standard in the body of Christ because you actively preach the gospel and have a following at that. People, especially young people, look up to you.

This is not exposing anything but the ignorance, divisiveness and foolishness of church folks. You can’t compare what Bishop Murphy did to this. Karen Clarke-Sheard singing that song sounds nothing like Faith Evans and it sounded like Kiki was only singing the hook to I’m Every Woman. When James Cleveland turned Gladys Knight’s song into a gospel song was he making the church sound like the world? We have to stop tearing each down and trying to catch each other in sin. The enemy has the church fighting the church and we need to stop. This is the kind of mess that drives people away from church. If we lift Jesus up instead of tearing each other down, He will draw all men unto Him.

Great Video! Either we're with God or we're against God! It's so funny how we have to imitate others..When God will give us new songs when we're spending time with Him....Bishop needs to read what the scripture says about him and his family...
So I researched the video of Kierra she is singing only the hook. She didn't even do the verses. Bits and pieces of her singing is being taken out of context to present a deceptive narrative. Kierra sang the hook to follow up behind a spoken word piece that was speaking figuratively of being various biblical figures who had had various experiences.
Same regarding Lady Sheard singing the Faith Evans...the hook is being sang to allude to the Lord and I personally declare that I have never experienced any other love like the one I have felt and received from the Lord. So, I too have personally sang that song. I actually revamped it with a producer over a decade ago to minister publically. The same churchy church folk who are super deep don't even know how many book are in the bible nor do they know which books in the bible represent the Torah. I respect G Craig Lewis. Nevertheless, I do not agree with him on his sentiments regarding these snippets.
She was ad libing and improvised using the hook from Evans song. Really? Gospel music, as we know it today, was derived from Thomas Dorsey taking blues and jazz songs and making them in "gospel" by changing lyrics but using the same melodies. James Cleveland who was consider one of the most prolific song writers in gospel music took 2 major secular songs and revamped them... Gladys Knight's song and turned it into Jesus is the Best Thing that Ever Happened to Me. Then he took Whitney Houston's "Didn't We Almost Have it All" and revamped it to "Aren't YOu Glad You Know the Lord?" Gospel artist revamping, ad libbing, improvising....it's nothing knew... Gosepl singer and songwriters are still creative and carrying with them creative license to be just that creative. What William Murphy did that infamous night is not the same as Kierra or Lady Sheard singing those lyrics... they are only singing hooks to convey the message expressed in the hook. Lady sheard also re-did Jill Scott's He Loves Me' decades ago...she is the daughter of the genius that was Dr. Mattie Moss Clark. It's in. Focus on Semantics and the meaning of what is to be conveyed and not just that the song was done by a secular artist. So now I can't sing Mariah's Carey Hero, Bette Midler's Wind Beneath my Wings, Joe Williams "I Believe in You and Me" (a popular secular wedding song) but I am a Christian? You are responding like these ladies were sing Cardi B and Meg's WOP, R. Kelly's Bump N Grind, or Rick James Super Freak.
I have learned that some people speak on things to make certain things into an issue to be seen, heard, and appear relevant. As for my reverance to James Cleveland he left a personal legacy that is corrupt through real life scandal and the church across denomination ain't never had a problem singing his songs!!!!!!!! If a Jezebel needs an Ahab to be relevant and operate then every commentator needs someone who is relevant and has attention or a following to speak on.

Anointing and spiritual gifts are WITHOUT REPENTANCE. So let's just say that an "anointed" pastor or bishop has secretly been SA ing young people in the church. Does GOD care more about the anointing than the danger that the victims are in? Are there ANY circumstances where we are allowed to call the "anointed " to the carpet without looking for lighting bolts in the sky?

Yes he was aware. Traditional gospel has always stirred my soul. He the Bishop home, state and national. I know he spoke about supporting his son’s musical career and not supporting rap or song with secular lyrics.I agree he should have stood strong on his statement. I do see where those song his daughter performed were message based occasion songs. They were not gospel but this is no representation on the man, the pastor or the Presiding Bishop.

Please stop it. Christians have been gospelizing secular songs since there have been secular songs. Amazing Grace is a Christianized version of a bar drinking song during it's day for goodness-sake.

It’s a touchy subject because there has always been an exchange in sounds and styles between the Black Church and secular Black culture. Bessie Smith was a preacher’s daughter, Thomas A. Dorsey was a pastor’s son who became a well known Blues musician and brought his blues cadences into his gospel compositions. Precious Lord, Peace in the Valley, Hold Me and other gems he wrote sound like barrelhouse blues. Then along came the young Mahalia Jackson who sounded like a repackaged Bessie Smith and Ma Rainey (so much so that Baptist preachers opposed her style of musical delivery to the point of not warming up to her until she started bringing money into the collection plates as her fame grew). Fast forward to the late 1950s when soul music was birthed… many young gospel singers started crossing over - Dinah Washington, Sam Cooke, James Brown, Ruth Brown, Della Reese, Aretha Franklin and they took the gospel sound (with its bluesy inflections) back into the Black Secular culture. The next exchange would happen about 25 years later when the Gospel Choir movement took off and people like Rev. James Cleveland took songs by the Beatles, Gladys Knight and others, and rewrote them with Christian lyrics. So this is an age old argument and discussion and I close with this fact, the famous hymn, “A Mighty Fortress is our GOD” actually borrows the melody of an old German tavern song.
The Clark Sisters allowed Beyonce & JayZ to use their song HaYa( Enternal Life) 1980 release; the Clark Sisters, mainly Karen, was bragging that Beyonce used their song.🤦🏾♂️
We, as the church, should judge righteously but not condemn. That's why many aren't in church. They are not in the pulpit, singing secular songs, nor are they promoting any form of violence or sexual promiscuity. They are singing about the love of a man/woman or self-empowerment, so can we please take our judgmental hats off? Let's not be so heavenly-minded that we do the earth no good.
It is very sad. We need to pray for the body of Christ like never before. Judgement is going to start at the house of God. 😢

Im not going to call Karen a hypocrite. But i will insert scripture, Be ye separate as I am separate, says the Lord. Just because we friends don't mean I have to do what you do or sing what you sing. Whether it is an add-on or not. No one is above reproach. Hypocrisy doesn't make us unrighteous... because all have sinned, but if I'm wrong, I can be corrected. Doesn't make Karen a bad person or even a hypocrite.
What I can't stand about so called SAVED and spiritual folks is the FACT that when their FAVORITE gospel artist or celebrity act carnal minded or is in fault, they get mad when you talk about them or expose their ungodliness. But just as soon as someone else is featured for sin or being a mess, the same folks will bash and degrade them and yell "This is the year of exposure." And let's not talk about the "Judge not" passage they will use to try and scare folks, along with the "Touch not my anointed." Well guess what? If your so called favorite gospel artist, preacher or pastor wasn't participating in sin, they would be talked about. PERIOD! Until then, I'm gonna keep walking in my discernment, and speak against those who compromise the truth and word of God and trying to make a MOCKERY out of it.

So, ARE YOU GOING TO SPEAK AGAINST CHRISTMAS AND EASTER, because those have been the BIGGEST mockers of the Word of God in and before our lifetime? What fellowship has RIGHTEOUSNESS with UNRIGHTEOUSNESS or CHRIST with BELIAL? What do ELVES (like Santa Clause) have to do with Christ? Do BUNNIES lay eggs? What do they have to do with Christ. They HOODWINKED y'all into believing that Easter was about Christ. Ishtar (pronounced EASTER) is a fertility Goddess (also called the Queen of Heaven in the Bible). That's why the Easter egg and the Easter bunny are included in the celebration. Those are both Fertility symbols. Fertility symbols for the FERTILITY GODDESS. Also, I don't know if you know, but hot crossed buns were (historically) made to CELEBRATE Good Friday. The cross on the buns was SUPPOSED to symbolize the crucifixion and the spices symbolized the spices used to embalm Christ. (Just google what celebration were hot cross buns made for) UNFORTUNATELY, that also is a lie. Jeremiah 7:18 says, "The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead their dough, to make cakes to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto other gods, that they may provoke me to anger." Jeremiah 44:17-22 says, "But we will certainly do whatsoever thing goeth forth out of our own mouth, to burn incense unto the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her, as we have done, we, and our fathers, our kings, and our princes, in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem: for then had we plenty of victuals, and were well, and saw no evil.
18 But since we left off to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her, we have wanted all things, and have been consumed by the sword and by the famine.

Read the whole chapter of Jeremiah 7 and Jeremiah 44. Our people are doing the VERY same thing and getting the same result. It's in there, Hot crossed buns and WORSHIPPING the Queen of Heaven goes way farther back than Christ, but I'm sure that EVEN after the scriptures I've brought out, YOU will still go on to ENJOY your ISHTAR (EASTER) celebration (just like Jeremiah said in Jer 44:17) thinking it is ACCEPTABLE to God. That's why God says this in Jeremiah 44:27, " Behold, I will watch over them for evil, and not for good: and all the men of Judah that are in the land of Egypt shall be consumed by the sword and by the famine, until there be an end of them." Isn't that happening to us NOW, this very day?

I don't think either of them are wrong. The man has every right to challenge Bishop Sheard on what he says! However ....I don't think that the music his wife and other relatives has song are... secular. The difference between William Murphy and the Sheard family..is that they aren't playing raunchy, classless music. They aren't playing the "bad lyrics". I came to know "The Clark Sisters" by the. singing so-called secular music in the 80's ...sampling "worldy beats" but changing the words. They were the reason alot of young folks came back to church.
The only song that I wish that didn’t sing ”I’m every woman”. The rest of the songs were positive. Historically, gospel, r&b, jazz, blues have been borrowing sounds from each other. So, I don’t have an issue with a gospel singer borrowing from a song that is labeled as some other type of genre. However, my caveat is that gospel singers should make sure that what is coming out of their mouth is Biblically sound.

As for as Love… Jesus is Love. What does any of this matter. Folks especially in the black church/community look for ways to chip away the black image. And as for as surviving… who hasn’t survived an attack of the enemy. My sister survived and defeated cancer. That’s surviving.

The Bishop was led by the Holy Spirit to say what he said, and sometimes the Holy Ghost will and can make you say stuff that you don’t want to say or that will come back to bite you. But it is right. Amen.
Who said that the rebuke wasn’t for his family? He’s not the one singing, he’s the one correcting. What y’all want him to do? Name specific names? That’s not necessary. We understood everything he said!

First of all, Karen CANNOT even sang secular music, b/c her voice only knows gospel; nor did she sound good at all.

You must understand, Kierra was not in the church singing this sing and as far as our New Years Eve Service, First Lady Kate was not promoting secular songs. Some words in secular songs can be used ands no one was singing casting spells. So if you were weren’t there you can not use it. You’re using parts of clips and using against my Bishop. Lastly, before you start throwing stones, your TH-cam page is using clips of videos to degrade the church.
