spacing of individual letters is critical. It's originally done by a type setter. To copy the spacing and avoid the issue of sloppy spacing do a pencil rubbing of the original individual lettering and use the press in place to position the letters on the rubbing....once in place...apply the press in place to the complete line of lettering and apply to the car surface.....peel off the paper rubbing....clean off adhesive.

This stuff is awesome. I just used it on my KTM SDGT to re-attache the pannier metal emblems, the 3m adhesive is much better than the double-sided factory tape.

Damn good idea! I was looking at a real time consuming job trying to reattach my “Boxster S” emblem to my Porsche trunk lid. This is a snap! Thank you for the tip.😍

Sure looks easier (and neater) than a tube of adhesive! Thanks for the video.

This looks amazing. My only concern is that the adhesive is too thin and it may not make a good seal between the emblem and the vehicle.

A small amount is all you need. What do you think you're attaching here, lol? 😅

Just pulled a pinned emblem from an 1987, and noticed just how important the seal around those pins is. Im positive that the orig. double sided foam was not up to the 30 plus years of service, but it should be noted just how important sealing the pin intrusions is to the longevity of the panels the emblem mounts to.
Do they make the product at hand in black? Or in different thicknesses?

What about putting a badge on a mustang that doesn’t have an existing badge. Are there any dimensions for the correct placement?

Not really depends on which car. All my emblems on mine are stick on with adhesive rather than foam tape/double sided tape from the factory.

lol the glue strips cost more than just buying a new set of badges for my tailgate...
3M strips = $40 on amazon... Tacoma tailgate badges (oem) $19.99 on ebay.

ackland granger has them for less than $4 per sheet. I was blown away and I had to make sure he actually was quoting me the right price.

Why don't you look for the adhesive on ebay or elsewhere? Lots of price gougers on Amazon.

Many of my cars are vintage and new emblems are not sold. And even used ones can be nearly impossible to find.
But of course a tacoma owner is stuck in his own one dimensional world.

What?! I just de-badged my car and used a VHB double sided duct tape like stuff( I think it’s for gutters). I had to press it on then used an exacto knife to cut off the extra tape. Oh man it sucked.

  • @ignazgumpanferdl5339

Sorry, i just can speak for my country, but new emblems are cheaper then this 3M thing🤷🏼‍♂️ And its delivered with original glue an you dont need to play around with that.

    • @Mark-OutWest
      @Mark-OutWest 2 ปีที่แล้ว

That's what I was thinking. If you purchase a replacement emblem from the dealer doesn't it already have adhesive on it? I can't believe they would want their mechanics at the service centers playing around with adhesive strips and cleaning any excess of the customer's cars.
