Before watching this, I hadn't realized ten minutes is a lot of time to complete a painting!! Good work!

Thank you! They don't always turn out, but it's a great way to practice or warm up.

You're very brave to limit yourself to ten minutes while filming yourself. Hats off to you. I just found your channel. Would you say challenging yourself like this has paid off as far as improvement goes? I often way overthink stuff, but some of my best work is when I stop trying so hard and let it just flow. Time limits sound like a good exercise. I guess it comes down to trusting the process AND yourself. :)

I focus better under pressure. Yes, challenging myself this was has helped. I did get more accurate sketches by the end of the series. Quickly mixing colors and applying them to colored backgrounds has helped across all art forms. It’s easier to let the art flow when you have the skills for it. Regular practice and challenging yourself is important if you want to get better at drawing and painting. I’m always continuing to learn.

That's a hateful thing to say. You should be blocked.

Maybe so! I post successes and failures in the 10-minute paintings. The goal was to paint each scene in 10 minutes, live on TH-cam, under pressure. This was my practice to get better at quickly identifying shapes and values to create a representational painting. The key word here is PRACTICE.

@333Judy333 Meh, I don't think it was hateful. It's just an opinion, and nothing personal was stated. If we penalize people for their interpretation of art, where would that leave us? Freedom of speech is under attack enough as it is. As artists, handling criticism without it affecting our purpose is important. Anyways, in the end, Shanna is the winner here because she took some risks and we just watched. Challenging yourself leads to growth. Not bad for 10 minutes, especially considering most paintings have an ugly stage and this didn't end up half bad.
