The only reason there are LTT comparisons is because Jay has become so successful, and there are not many other tech channels in this position. I'd consider the comparison a compliment (even if they're ignorant comments).
A TH-camr doesn't really need a warehouse to be successful..

yeah I don't understand why all the hate. Of course he's following the same path Linus did. That's the natural evolution of video production.
Jay is Jay. I personally don't like LTT because his personality doesn't seem very... Likeable? (Idk it's my opinion) Jay on the other hand is goofy. I think people are just worrying over nothing. Jay is still gonna be doing the same stuff just in a different place.
What some don't get is guys like him (them?) would've been successful in most any outcome. Had technology T.V. stuck or radio been there for the genre still he'd be a "star" for sure. I was thinking about that the other day while watching him. Some people have that talent. He's one. No doubt. I'm taking about Jay btw. He's just good at his craft. Something to learn from truly. Success, more and more, for me seems to be about work ethic and a personality that matches it.
I really think that these "YT stars" have in some ways seen more hurdles than past personalities. Really. I mean that. While they get to build their own empires these days... they HAVE to build their own empires. You know? Maybe I'm thinking too much about it.

I love how every so often, there is a point of evolution with the channel. A stepping stone. Very exciting. Really dig Phil's editing (drop ins) for the comparisons. Cool vision. Looking forward to it. Wouldn't mind some colab work, if that's possible for the move in. Great job guys.

I came across 'Electronic Chronic', who seems like a nice guy and has just started out with a good quality build vid.
Thought I'd throw his name out to get him some subs as he seems like a good bloke.
True, but I think they kind of hit a point where any further improvement has a massive diminishing returns. I am extremely sensible to sound issues if your sound is bad. But once it is over a certain level, I couldn't say the one or the other is better. Similar with video quality. At the same time this additional improvements also cost a ton more of money.
That design of your old studio would make for a really cool place to live! Great design!

Also, "excuse the quality of our videos" a lot of us have been watching your videos since you were in your bedroom, the two idiots videos were some of my favorites. I don't mind "low production" quality when the content is good, as your videos typically are. Hell, I've watched you build a damned fidget spinner.

well since you asked I suggest making the walls and ceilings for the set super heavy duty for a possible utilization of any wasted space on top of the sets for future expansion should you need it. but still have it made to break it down easily should you need to move the sets around.

For sound you just need some 4 x 8 - 2” thick yellow rigid fiberglass panels. They are paint friendly or you can even cover them in fabric.
You can get a four pack for like $130 from an HVAC distributor.
You can create “clouds” hanging the from the ceiling with truss hangars.
Or you can hang them on the wall with a French cleat. If you use a French cleat that’s where you can get creative and make a very modular environment where you can move panels around with ease.
Tectum panels are also a great way to get a unique look along with sound dampening. Easy to paint and hang.
Cheaper to just get a bunch of mattresses and stick them behind a curtain.

congrats jay and team! started watching back when you were still in your home and it has been nice seeing the channel grow and develop over the years. I wish you nothing but continued success as this next phase begins. With all that space and proper power source you should look into dipping your toes into hobby CNC and laser engraving/cutting. You could really go bonkers on the custom builds and pull quite a bit of content from the whole shebang. I founded a Tooling and Die company so I'd be happy to point you towards cost effective and upgrade ready mills you could make basically anything with. You could mill your own water blocks and sell them in the merch store :-) Looking forward to the future!!

Can the dead space above the office area be used?
It's nice to think about what you can do setwise with all the floorspace you've got but be careful you don't fall into the same trap as your current space. "All of this is for playing in, but none of it is for storage."
If you're able to build stairs to get into that deadspace you could put in an area just to store things which would help avoid that trap.
