My understanding is that Disney wasn't willing to pay West what Nickelodeon had been paying him, so he turned it down. Simple as that. Odd, really. Not as if Disney couldn't have afforded to pay him the same rate. As a kid, for the record I really loved both runs and could never understand the hate this one got. The only thing I'll concede --- and I always did think this -- is that a lot of the kooky, weird quirkiness of the Nick run was turned kind of generic in the Disney run. That's a legit complaint. I just watched 6 11-minute episodes of Doug on TeenNick's Splat block, and I thought it was great. It's so sad to see Doug leave Nickelodeon. The worst thing is that Billy West is not Doug's voice actor!
I find it ironic that the voice actor for Roger in the Disney version also worked at Nickelodeon during the 90s as the voice of "Face" for Nick Jr. and for being the official announcer for the main channel.

Say what you will about the Disney version of Doug, but if I gotta be honest, I vastly prefer this to the original opening. Always have, always will. My guess is that Disney somewhat overdid the deepening of his personality. Other than that, most episode of the Disney Doug were all right to good, but the Nickolodeon Doug excells in its simplicity.

As a kid, we didn't have cable. We had only broadcast TV (and heck, we still do). My sister and I _loved_ One Saturday Morning, and especially this show. I don't care what anyone else says.
I always thought that was a bad idea. That enabled the kids (like me) to automatically see Doug as white; even though everyone else has fantastical colors. No point in making them rainbow unless it's to avoid just that, right?

Doug Funnie is funny even though he’s a nice guy. My mom never gets tired of Porkchop Funnie, because he’s her favorite character.

I grew up with Nick's version and forgot all about a Disney version. My little brother and sister used to watch this version, hell I did too. I like them both but if I had to pick one, Nickelodeon wins.

I've only ever seen Nickelodeon doug, but I can already tell its better than this.
complete series of disney doug is no where to be found only a few random episodes are online. with nickelodeon doug you can easily buy and watch the whole series. I know nickelodeon doug is better but would be nice for the disney version to be released to see too.

They don't have all the episodes. Just a select few. I think the only people that have every episode is Disney
knowing them they probably burn every series they own that is not a disney channel original

The Disney version had a MUCH BETTER theme song, but the Nickelodeon version was the better show as a whole. Better stories, better animation, better voice acting.........

As a kid, we didn't have cable. We had only broadcast TV (and heck, we still do). My sister and I _loved_ One Saturday Morning, and especially this show. I don't care what anyone else says.

I always thought that was a bad idea. That enabled the kids (like me) to automatically see Doug as white; even though everyone else has fantastical colors. No point in making them rainbow unless it's to avoid just that, right?
