Sleep is LIFE! I feel like I was the same, I researched, read, did everything in my power to make sure they had good sleeping habits and it paid off. My girls are still GREAT sleepers. Establish those habits now and you're setting them up for life. Also, like you said, sleep helps brain development, temperament, and overall well being of the babies. Good work mama!! Also, isn't it funny that you're doing the same for both babies at the same time and they can still be so different? I'm always amazed at how nature vs. nature really rings true and it's so noticeable when you're raising twins!
I'm thankful that my 5 month twins, and my eldest, were the best sleepers! When my twins were EBF, they were already sleeping 6-8 hr stretches at night (bedtime at 8), and they sleep about 12+ now. Bedtime around 7-8, and awake around 8-9. They take a lot of naps, but they need it or they scream for hours! They take a nap about every 2.5 hours between wake up time and 7-8 at night. I cant break them from all the naps tho!
My first was a great sleeper. My 2nd woke up once at night for forever! I talked to the Pedi and she said after 6 months it’s normally a habit to wake up and not that they are hungry. She told us to time nursing and drop a minute every few nights. We got to 5 mins easy then stalled for a long time and I thought it wouldn’t work. Then when we got to 4 mins or under magically she started sleeping all night. I was shocked! Turns out it didn’t have anything to do with wake times during the day. 🤷♀️ it’s so hard every kid and family is different. Good luck!!!!
You can start sharing teaching now. When I worked in a daycare I used redirect a lot but also saying we share, be nice, etc. Then just redirected to a new toy saying you can do this until Bear is done playing with name of toy, for example. It seemed to work.
You have probably already tried this but I did this with both of mine and it worked wonderfully!!! Do your bed time routine, put him to bed at normal time, but do a ghost feed right before you go to bed. So at 10 or 11 wake him up and feed him. Try to make it a change/feed/right back to bed. That really helped both of my babies a lot! Either way I think y'all are doing Awesome. Sleep was a big deal to me because I am a person who needs good sleep. I get 😠 without it and didn't want to be that way. So, like you, I did TONS of research. 📖📚
My daughter is the same age as your babies and we put her to sleep at 7pm and then we wake her up at 10-10:30 pm and feed her when we are going to bed and then she usually sleeps until 5am ish.
I think the best thing my mother ever gave me will be a night nanny for the first year of my kid's life. I will be a SMBC through IVF/Surrogacy and my mother asked me what she could do to help and I asked for a night nanny that specializes in sleep training. Instead of giving birthday, Christmas, and other holiday presents she will be gifted this to us for 5 days a week for the first year to 18 months depending on how out nights go. It's not that I can't do it myself it's that if there is a better way to make sure that my kids what they need and I don't lose my mind to trying to give it to them then I am going to do it.
I sleep trained both my kids and my son didn’t sleep through until 14 months (needed a feed) my daughter is 10 months and now sleeping through. Whatever you try stick too for 10-14 days, and be aware of a burst. Where he sleeps great a few days and then is terrible again, just be consistent.
We have a very strict sleep schedule for are 2 year old daughter. Nap at 11 am she takes about for a long time long. Up by 2:30 or 3 and go to bed a 7pm . she she plays the whole time she is up. She needs her room to be nice and cool and quite . she will not sleep anywhere but in her room by her self. She is a sensitive child. But i love her to death
Hi beautiful family the twims are getting big growing right on up. I feel like I am part of the family because I do be excited to see you guys. Rach I do know what you are talking about.💞💞💞
Oh I'm so glad you talked about this because I also think sleep is the most important thing my babies are very much like your babies and need schedule and we have a really good . But I too have been through the very same situations you have and it's so much more difficult when you're raising twins because you're trying to do the best that you can do and get them the most sleep that they can get ... It seems like you said the schedule always changes when they're growing. Your doing a wonderful job!
My beautiful neighbour next door last Saturday fell doing that. He broke his neck twice, nose, eye socket twice, arm twice and ripped all the skin of the bone in side of his mouth. So when you said that's how you end up in the ER. I was sadly yep. Been a wk today. And hes one very guy. He's up on his feet. Of course with all the head gear on to stop his neck moving
Love all your videos! Our twin boys just turned 2 months and still eat every two hours day and night. Starting to scare me as I get prepared to start work in 4 weeks! But you guys are doing an amazing job and I love both the fun and informative videos!
I have definitely lucked out with good sleepers! My oldest will sleep anywhere!! My youngest however seems to struggle when shes not sleeping in her room in her crib! But when we're home she sleeps great! I think I got them both to sleep through the night around 4 months or so!
My kids needed a schedule and I didnt purposely make a schedule but because I was working there was a schedule for everyone in the house. Without a schedule I would have went nuts. My son and grandson just moved in with me and my grandson did not have a schedule so I had to get him on one asap for my sanity lol. Now he has a bath and bedtime at a specific time every night now. He just started sleeping in his own bed without dad there. They coslept till now, and Dexter is now 3 yrs old.
Have you thought about an amber necklace for Bear? It might help with the drooling. I loved watching them eat. They’re both like little birds! My daughter has used the “Baby Wise” book and the babies have a schedule. Both are great sleepers.
I think you’re an INCREDIBLE mom! I think sometimes we just need to realize that yes they are twins but they are still two different babies! Just because little Lyndle is killing it at the sleeping situation, maybe bear won’t. I think it’s hard for us mamas because we’re so exhausted. I have a 6 month old and he is awesome sleeping through the night and has amazing 3 naps during the day. And it terrifies me to think of a second because I know it could be the complete opposite. And it’s not what I’m doing different or wrong but it’s just the baby having different needs.
Several years ago I was standing on a swivel bar stool, that at the time didn’t turn easy, cleaning a wall arrangement of pictures and a wooden clock. I reached to grab the back to get down when the chair decided to turn easy. The clock came off the wall, hit my head, glass went everywhere, I was falling (my stone hearth fireplace in the direction of my fall) asking God to help me and He did! I landed sitting up less than an inch from the fireplace.
Omg!!! I'm lmao! Sorry Rach, "Window Tent" hummmm NEVER HEARD OF IT!! Maybe you should practice saying it a few times a day! Your TOO cute... and Brad saying "how come we've been together for 8 years and I never knew you can't say TINT" LOVE U GUYS TOO PIECES XOXOXO. T-I-N-T, T-I-N-T, T-I-N-T T-I-N-T. Hope you all have a wonderful day!
Post six months we were told by health visitor that if a baby asks for more than one bedtime feed theyre not getting enough food. As it’s Bere that would make sense with his greater weight. Maybe porridge before bed might help.
sleep and schedules was sooo important to me and others didnt understand and thought I was so uptight. But I needed my sleep too otherwise I had bad anxiety. It took me a while to figure out what works and then it changes like u said haha. My son also needs dark and white noise to sleep although he will sleep in the car! So that's great... but he wont sleep in the stroller or when we are out and about unless he is ridiculously overtired. I have not really found naps effect his night sleeping though luckily, but unluckily he still wakes up multiple times a night fussing.. hes 8 months old. But since around 7.5 m I have found I am able to go out and do a lot more since he isnt taking 4 naps anymore and is down to 2 haha. Finally I don't feel as paranoid to stick to an exact schedule as long as he gets 2 naps at some point and goes to bed around 8.
I find that you are not alone. Alot of Moms are quite concerned about sleep and brain development. Would love to see vlog with you and Barb discussing differences of raising babies at same age. I think our generation took a much more later back attitude. Not a judgement just think it would be interesting.

My daughter is almost ten months and we still are dealing with the split nights. My daughter wants to wake up three times throughout the night. It seems the best way for us is two naps throughout the day and down for bed at 8. My daughter is definitely sensitive I do know what your talking about. My daughter will sleep in the car though and in her stroller sometimes if she is tired enough.
get ready for the crawling they will be ever where. Mother of twins goal is to contain lol we used the Kidzone Baby Playpen Kids 8 Panel Safety Play Center Yard Home Indoor Outdoor Pen (Blue) from amazon you can take apart or put together in pieces use in your living room to outside. very sturdy . also before they are walking can use an inflatable pool
all our friends thought it silly we have such a strict bedtime schedule. but it makes a diff when my kids don't get it my toddler has melt down central. And he basically made his strict schedule by himself. and we followed suite with our 6 mo old. But the multiple night wakings are dragging for me to so I understand you. I don't think its anything mothers do wrong I think its just diff for everyone.
My daughter liked/ still likes long naps so when she was young she stayed consistent with a 12 night time with 8-8 and 10&4 she also had wake up feeds at 10&4 she always sleep after feeding and she stayed consistent till 3 with the exception of changing to one nap no I'm trying to sleep training my 3 year old :/ it's not working with her long naps
Someone told me today to keep my almost 6.5 month old awake all day to get him to sleep through the night. (insert giant eyeroll here) We're struggling big time with sleep, naps and overnight. Solidarity mama!
Yep my friend has a baby that naps wherever and she always tells me just let him watch everything go by he will just drop off watching stuff. My baby is the opposite of that and if there is anything to watch he will be up no matter how tired 😂
I know many people on here commented and gave tips on how their experience worked, but I am still firm, 2nd time around and with twins same age as yours, boy & girl, very different babies etc...- went exactly by the book of 12 hours sleep by 12 weeks old. They were both sleeping soundly through the night by 4 months old- take it, learn it, use it, be it lol 😂 🧘🏼♀️🧘🏼♀️🧘🏼♀️
Hey guys. This video made me laugh... The teeent looks good lol. Rachel... how long do your twins usually nap for during the day. And another question how did they like the Starlight that you got for their Nursery? I was thinking about getting one for my girls
It's like I always say, just when we figure these little treasures out, they turn on us! Haha. Seriously though, it is never as evident that they are two different people as when you do the exact same things for each twin and they both respond so differently. I don't know what to add or suggest, as I only was lucky enough to have one child and she was a great sleeper from the beginning. I will say that she was a major creature of habit and her routine was paramount. Heaven forbid if I skipped a bath one night. It was to the point where I could literally undress her, sit her in a bath for 3 minutes, wipe her down, dress her and that was all that mattered. If I'd skip that because, for instance, it was getting late and it ALWAYS backfired on me and took three times longer to get her down. Have you tried waking Bear up just long enough to top him off right before you go to bed to see if that works or helps? That's all I got... you are both great parents, so hang in there! xo Heather🇨🇦 PS, I've never laughed so hard today than I did over the tint/tent thing again... too funny. I especially loved when Brad looked up and said "she's doing this on purpose" and "how did I not know that you couldn't say tint?"
Have you tried giving bear some baby cereal with his milk before he goes down for the night?. I don't have any other suggestions but thought it may work lol x
my son is 6 months and wakes up every 2-3 hours to eat... he goes to bed at 645-7pm but wakes up sometimes at 5am. i feel ya on it being tiring! idk how to get him to sleep longer between feedings.. i almost feel like he wakes up just out of habit
Brad: Rachel buys something off amazon almost daily The next day Brad: I ordered this off amazon Hahahaahah only kidding! You guys are like my husband and I and amazon!
Hi Rach and Brad! Love ur videos! We r expecting our boy/girl twins this next Friday (August 17th 😱🤗) would u b able to list/give your favorite resources for sleep? I've read a bunch of books etc but knowing what a researcher you are it would help to know ur faves! Thx so much!
It's quite possible that Bear just needs more solid food before he goes to bed. If your still breast feeding at night give him some baby oatmeal then go ahead with the bottle or breast. Sounds like he's just not getting enough food to keep his tummy full through the night.
Right now since we've started cloth diapering I'm having a hard time finding the right situation that works for a heavy wetter . one of my twins is like that so I can really could use some advice :) I've been reading a lot of things about prefolds and hemp and charcoal. And doubling up the inserts but it looks so uncomfortable. Any suggestions.
Have u tried dream feeding bear? Not sure if you know what it is but with my girls I used to sneak in the room at 10pm with a bottle and gently put it in her mouth and she would finish the whole bottle whilst still asleep and she would last all night. If I didn't do it she would wake in the night. X
Shaniqua Snowden it all depends on age really. When they are very small I'd say yes. But still didn't get her out the cot. I just sat her up whilst she stayed asleep and gently burped her. But from about 6 months plus I didn't burp her x
My baby is on sleep training from 4,5 months and sleep trough the night 11-12 hrs with 2 wakes up to eat (just because he does gain the weight properly) and 3 naps during the day. About 15-17 hours of sleep total. I have worked with a sleep consultant and was told that it is crucially important not to over stimulate the baby between naps ( 2 hours max depending on age) because of the cortisol hormone it’s affects the nighttime sleep.
Mangos are in the same family as posion oak, posion ivy and posion sumac. The allergic reaction usually comes from exposure to the stem or skin. Im surprised they put mango in baby food. Im allergic to mango and posion ivy. I dont know about the other two, but probably am. Your babies are precious. When yall build your house, where will it be? Golf course or lake? Any news on the other house yet?
Farrah Hays Okay. Im just saying lots of people are allergic. It seems they would not put it in baby food. But then they dont discourage peanut butter for babies. But its not related to posion ivy/ oak.

Our Infant Optics monitor does the same thing! Drives me nuts!!
Rachel from now on you can just call the tint the black film for the windows. LOL!!

Nest cameras are really good
I've heard of other youtubers using these instead of monitors too cos they work better and with less interferance
My son eats a fruit and rice cereal for breakfast and then for lunch it’s veggie and a fruit not mixed and then for supper either a fruit or veggie
We all can't help our accents! LOL
I'm sitting here laughing out loud about the window tint/tent. At first I thought you bought a tent. To funny
Lol I thought you bought a tent. Glad Brad clarified it to tint. Haha
Try the Wyze cam. They are $20! The quality is great!!
I find that you are not alone. Alot of Moms are quite concerned about sleep and brain development. Would love to see vlog with you and Barb discussing differences of raising babies at same age. That would be really interesting! But i think the reason people were so laid back in the 80's and earlier was because there just wasn't any research much other than dr spok or others like him. So everyone just did what their mothers and grandmothers did for eons. Nowadays everything is science based right down to the prenatal vitamins you take before trying for a baby!

I have the same baby monitor and I only get the out of range signal when the microwave is on and/or the dryer. It is pretty annoying, but that is what my husband and I have observed. :-)

We had the same problem with the infant optic monitor.
all our friends thought it silly we have such a strict bedtime schedule. but it makes a diff when my kids don't get it my toddler has melt down central. Maybe try some oatmeal cereal or something heavier in Bear’s dinner feeding to make him a bit more full.

How long do you plan to use the Owlets for? I absolutely love ours but not sure how long it's necessary
My daughter was sleep sensitive she would sleep way too long during the day and I would be up until 1 to 2am trying to get her to sleep
I was just looking up baby monitors because I hate the one I have. What happened to the WiFi one you were using?
We still use them, they just cut out randomly so we need a backup!
Brad: Rachel buys something off amazon almost daily
The next day
Brad: I ordered this off amazon
Hahahaahah only kidding!
I’ve read all of them and my fav is Precious Little Sleep. Fast, SUPER entertaining read! And great info on sleep!
Brad and Rach Thanks so much! 🤗
It's quite possible that Bear just needs more solid food before he goes to bed. If your still breast feeding at night give him some baby oatmeal then go ahead with the bottle or breast. Sounds like he's just not getting enough food to keep his tummy full through the night.
We do solids and milk before bed 🤷🏼♀️ I even try to pick something slow to digest. No luck 😢
I would consider Bear a heavy wetter and we double up with microfiber and a combo hemp/cotton insert and he has yet to outwet it. Good luck!
Brad and Rach Thank you very much for replying and for your suggestion. I will give that a try for sure:)
💖💙
Have u tried dream feeding bear? Not sure if you know what it is but with my girls I used to sneak in the room at 10pm with a bottle and gently put it in her mouth and she would finish the whole bottle whilst still asleep and she would last all night. If I didn't do it she would wake in the night. X
I have, he just eats extra those nights 😂😂
Brad and Rach ah worth a try 😂
Do you have to burp the baby after the dream feed?
Brad, you bought a tent from amazon too? Or did you mean TINT because you said tent. 😂
LOL So glad you got you "Tint/Tent". Try saying the words "pen vs. Pin". Can you say them correctly?
