On a trip from LA to Hawaii once, I got upgraded to First class, offered it to my wife, but she decided to stay in back because it turned out she had the entire row. For at least three of the five hours over the Pacific the plane experienced unbelievable turbulence. I couldn't read, I couldn't sleep, I couldn't watch videos, everything was bouncing across the sky the entire time. It was unnerving even to me who have flown more than a million miles in my life. When we landed in Lihue, I made my way towards the exit and waited for my wife to come forward. "What did you think of the terrible turbulence?" I asked her. "Was there any turbulence," she said, "I was asleep across the entire row the whole time and didn't notice anything." Next time, she gets bumped to first class.

Unless you have a real diagnosed anxiety disorder, I would discourage you from having your dog certified as a therapy dog. Trained service animals go through rigorous training for well over a year. The waitlist for a service animal can be multiple years. My friend who is legally deaf was on a waitlist for nearly four years before she got her dog. Service animals are trained to never bark, or get distracted when they are working. Fewer than two of every 10 dogs who start training ever graduate. The rest are retired and become plain old pets because they lack the discipline. The marker is now flooded with ill trained support animals. This results in increased scrutiny for people like my friend who really need their service animals to navigate the world with significant disabilities. Think of it another way, you are pretending to be a person with a disability so you can keep your pet nearby.

To travel on an airplane, your dog would have to be an emotional support dog and you would have to have a letter from a psychiatrist. Emotional Support Animals-Provides support and emotional comfort to a handler with a mental illness or anxiety type issues. Service Dogs-Specifically trained to perform tasks that mitigate a handler’s disability. Therapy Dogs-Trained to bring comfort and joy to those in a hospital, school, library or other care environments.

i was on a flight and the turbulence was so bad. there was a huge storm while we were in the air. the flight attendants were giving out drinks. they accidentally skipped us and gave drinks to the people behind us. that’s when the turbulence hit. it was the worst turbulence any one of us has ever felt. so the people behind us got coffee and spilled it all over themselves. i thought that was hilarious because that could have been us if we hadn’t gotten skipped. while i was dying of laughter the flight attendants kept trying to give us drinks WHILE THE TURBULENCE WAS GOING ON. my friend was next to me, crying because she was scared, and she thought i was insane for laughing.

Used to freak out with turbulence until someone explained to me it's like a bumpy road..."by the time you feel the bumps, you're PAST the bumps." Definitely helped. A little. The movement of the overheads is normal...the plane has to flex otherwise things would snap.
Also, I recommend you correct Ruby's biting behavior. You need to be dominant (pack leader) and not allow that...you will have bigger problems later on. Please, please read Cesar Milan's books (or just watch the show). There's an easy (and correct) way of correcting it.

I was terrified of flying simply because of my ears popping as if they were full of Pop Rocks. Add turbulence to the mix and I would wonder what I did to be put in the torture chamber.
      👂💢💫 plus 💫🌀 = 😱😖😣😵😵‍💫
Thank goodness for Amtrak! After flying twice in one year Dad finally realized that train travel was better for us. We never flew again. TBH, Mum didn't like flying much either. She was not scared, and her ears hardly popped. They got full but she didn't feel pain at all. But she didn't like being confined in a seat for five hours. She got restless because she likes to move around.
Dad was the only one who didn't dislike flying at all.
FYI those plane trips were in 1975 and 1978 and I remember them like it was yesterday.

I just discovered your channel about a month ago, and your most recent ones have a dog named Sunny. Are you a puppy "foster" family, before they can start the actual, very rigorous, training program? I think it's awesome if you are!! It's hard to give up this temporary addition to your family, so kudos if I'm right. Love the vlogs!!

That's me! I'm scared of flying because of Pop Rocks in my ears. (Add the possibilities of turbulence and unruly passengers, and I wouldn't fly again for all the money in the world). I love traveling!!! Buut I HATE turbulence! Once I was traveling back to NY from California during a Colorado AND NY snow storm and I kid you not, I could feel the wind coming into the plane. The best thing to do sounds really stupid, but the best thing to do is to watch the flight attendants. If they are still going up and down the plane, you know it's safe. Also get a really good movie and get a soda, or probably in your case wine😂😂
*video idea* different types of wine for different flights!!

You could try chewing gum. I’ve heard that helps. Also, back in the 80s I took scuba diving lessons and the instructor told us to take a sinus aid (like sudafed or actifed) to help clear our eardrums to relieve the pressure. I forgot to one time and couldn’t make it below 30 feet. Idk if either is available but it could be worth a shot.

Hi, it's me again under a new TH-cam handle! I can relate. A flight to Florida felt like a torture chamber. O-o-o-o my ears! Mum's not keen on flying because she likes to move around instead of being confined to a seat, and I loathe flying because of my popping ears. Dad was the only one who didn't suffer. There was no turbulence but if there had been turbulence (in addition to Pop Rocks in my ears)I probably would have said "Let's turn back, deplane, rent a car, and head for the nearest Amtrak station!"
1975 and 1978 were the years of the Pop Rocks!👂💢💫👂😱😖😣😵😵‍💫😭

@@battlebear437 I chewed gum and put cups over my ears. Did it help? Noooooooo 👂 💢💫😱😖😣😵😵‍💫😭👂
My ear canals are as narrow as a pencil. The GP told me, and I believe him because why else wouldn't chewing gum and cups over my ears NOT help? O-o-o-o my ears! Pop Rocks are not my favorite candy, whether IRL or fake ones (fake Pop Rocks = popping ears 👂💢💫😱😖😣😵😵‍💫😭)
In fact, even riding the elevator in the World Trade Center gave me Pop Rocks in my ears. Air pressure changes and me...bad combo!👂💢💫😱😖😣😵😵‍💫😭

On a trip back from Nevada, after a car accident that completely totaled our car, we had to fly over the Rockies. I don’t know if anybody else experienced this but the Rockies are HORRIBLE when it comes to turbulence. It felt like we were going to crash. At one point we just all of a sudden dropped and from the cockpit you hear “son of a b****!” The flight attendant turns to us “because we were all in the back, and goes “well that was fun”. It freaked me out because when we took off (after the flight had been delayed till 2:00 am, when it was supposed to leave at 12:00) they had to de- ice the plane wings because it was frigid and it had just rained. The whole time the turbulence was happening my brother was sitting in the row adjacent to me making a face like he was taking a dump. Let’s just say that was not a good trip. But we loved the flight attendants.

My sister got her puppy registered as a service dog. Strangely, I have a problem with it. We are now flooding the market with 'service' dogs and people who actually need them are getting harassed by airlines and shopping malls. It makes me more anxious to travel with my dog then without. Is she scared of all the strangers, what if she pees on something, what if someone steals her? She's safer at home with my mom, if I get a little shook up on the plane - I'll get over it.

Ruby is really adorable and I love how much you all love her. I really strongly encourage you to address her mouthing habit. It needs to be addressed. Positive training and reinforcement is a good way to go. Please don't ignore it and hope it will go away...it won't. She needs to be taught that her teeth can never be on skin.

    • @ZannaTheGreat
      @ZannaTheGreat 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Krislynner
Yep, I was going to comment the same thing, especially because she'll be a good sized dog - the mouthing cannot be tolerated. Some dogs grow and mature out of it on their own, but most need training.

I also mentioned this in my post below. The dog is establishing dominance and allowing that will only lead to bigger training issues down the road. Companion dogs especially have this behavior corrected early. Ignoring is bad, and pulling your hand back is even worse.
