dev here, congratulations on making it through this much and also sorry for your loss for making it through this much. you've made it through about as much as most people do (and more than i did when making and playtesting it lmao) it was funny for the first week or so of development and then i decided i would go over the top and make sure i replaced everything, and spent the next few weeks replacing every single reference to the word "pokemon" in the script manually, and changing the cutscenes, trainer card, battle tower ui, item sprites, poffin minigames, and other random obscure ui elements (even though, to my knowledge, exactly one person has ever made it past the first gym, and they're the one i made beta test it because i didnt want to have to play through it), and at that point i was so sick of looking at amogus i didnt want to play it again as a side-note, the color of the amogus is their primary type, except in special cases where one of their types has an immunity, in which case that color is used instead, so you cant have a nuzlocke ended by not being able to tell what you're fighting (important pokemon like legendaries, and the pokemon used for the regi puzzles, also have unique cries and sprites, so you can know when you've caught them) i was unable to make it compatible with the universal randomizer at the time, but its designed in such a way that it would be possible to play a randomizer of it, if they ever added support for decomp romhacks anyway since im confident nobody will ever make it to them, from what i remember the weather trio is 3d-render among drip, the regis are fall guys, and mew is frigo from the infamous 2003 romhack/bootleg "pokemon: frigo returns". i know youtube likes to block links, but if anyone is interested in viewing the source code for this, it can be found on github (susieqt/pokesus2, with pokesus being the original pokemon gold romhack which is... significantly worse to play for several reasons. nobody has ever beaten that one without fast forwarding and muting the audio, and unlike pokesus2, theres no payoff for doing so) also, the rayquaza cutscene is incredible and i recommend cheating to get to it, the payoff is huge. you get to see among drip activate rocket shoes. also jerma is inside the among drip and he flies through the air. just be thankful i scrapped the paper mario amogus romhack i had planned, that game would be way worse than this to play (and also make, theres like 40000 sprites to replace)
I don’t begrudge you for having better things to do with your life than rom hacks which involve changing thousands of sprites. But I still wish paper Mario amogus was real
I think it would have been less repetitive if each pokemon had a unique sprite, such as an impostor or different clothes, but I can see how that would make this mod take even longer to make.
