Random fact, adulthood in Japan used to be 20, meaning those under 20 are still consider children. However, this was later changed, but it won’t be changed until April of 2022. On another note high school is entirely optional in Japan as well, usually you would go there if you plan on going to university. So having the school be that you are required to be at least 18 to enter could work if it’s set in a world where adulthood is still 20, the first years would be 18, second years would be 19 and third years would be 20. It could also work as some students fcked up their original high school years so these academy plays as a second chance for them. And since it’s pretty much a rich person school a lot of students there could just be there to goof off until they become adults or be there for college/university credits.

the explanation for the way the school is it's weird, I understand how Saisho created the school to fit his daughters tastes, but saying that every student there wants to "re-live" highschool is just too much, if Akademi really was the most prestigious post-grade school then people would enroll for education first and just deal with the "atmosphere" later. Like almost everything in Yandere Simulator, it has potential but has to be worded and organised better to actually make sense.

I think it's just for 1980's mode, I remember a video or something like that from some time ago that said that after the murder of Sumire (we didn't know her name then but now it's confirmed) the school changed and became a Highschool, even though before it was more like a college. The situation is still very strange nonetheless and it definitely adds lots of plot holes. I would like to send you the link to the video I saw explaining things but I saw it a long time ago so I don't really remember well, I could also be wrong.
Sadly I don't think that is the case, apparently that's the case in the main game too, at least that's what I got from the Yan sim discord mods, which is quite unfortunate, as that's sounds very dumb, but there isn't anything I can do about that.

There is also something that bothers me a lot, here in Mexico the grades define what educational level you are in and therefore each grade the students have different ages (Obviously in other places they also work like this) but in Yandere Simulator it does not matter if you are in grade 1-2-3 because they will all be the same age? Wow, the newspaper articles really show how detailed and well written Yandere Simulator storyline is. Except... About Sonoko's articles from week 10. I really love how only Sonoko is the only rival with 5 articles each subsequent day as she is the final boss rival. Her articles, it was really interesting. I believe her story was well written. But the problem is, there are some elimination methods that are as easy as Kaguya (first rival) like, rejection, crushed to death at the back of the school, poisoned to death, framed, killed by a mind broken slave etc. As she is both detective and final boss rival, these types of easy elimination don't make any sense. As the final rival, her elimination should have been far more difficult than all previous rivals.
I agree but her specific elimination that coincides with the story is there for a reason. If something happened to Sonoko then Ryoba would obviously be the prime suspect, which is why in the canon story Ryoba eliminates her non violently
Well, I think the idea is they would post stories based on something major happening based on the players choices, but it does seem complicated to do, even if it really doesn't require really any new assists. Also, the bit where at the start of the day, the students would reach to the stories Ryoba writes for the news letters, there could at least be a display screen about how much reputation points you got or how much reputation the rival is losing since having it set up that way is easy to put in the game without really needing new assists.

He’s admitted in a screenshot somewhere (not sure exactly where but I’m sure if you search hard enough you can find it floating around somewhere online) that the whole “all characters are 18” thing was him trying to cover up the fact that he was called out for being a creep and that “oh anime does stuff like this with high schoolers all the time and they never get in trouble for it”. I’m not sure exactly what it said, but it was something along those lines. Basically, yandev is all around a general creep and bad person, don’t support him. Honestly I find most people saying this game is gross to be hypocritical. Like there are certain people out there getting over sensitive about panties shots, but when it comes to killing, kidnapping, torturing girls etc, they are like “meh this seems fine to me”. I still remembered how a bunch of kids were whining about how it’s so cruel for yandev to propose killing a kitten to hide the smell of a corpse, but they laughed at the Kokona fried chicken jokes anyway. Sigh. And I haven’t even mentioned how there’s literally no difference in killing a student and killing an adult. They are both human lives for god’s sake. If you are gonna get into the moral sides of things, you might as well ban every single FPS game for violence. Get over it.

YanDevs specified that all are 18 even if specified otherwise. So it's possible that the modern mode may be affected by this "explanation"
