For those who don't know: The composer of the Qawwali was: Huzur Hazrat Amir Khusro The couplet "Shah e mardan sher e yazdan..." is written by Huzur Pak Jat Hazrat Mueen ud din Chisti aka Hazrat Khawaja Ghareeb Nawaz. The tarana (Dara dil dara...) is written by Huzur Hazrat Amir Khusro (the composer of the Kalaam). The last two couplets(Haiderium, Qalanderum...) are written by Huzur Syed Shah Hussain aka Hazrat Lal Shehbaz Qalander.

I got listening to Nusrat a good few years ago now after reading he was one of Jeff Buckley's biggest vocal inspirations..never looked back since! Regularly come back to this song when I need my soul replenished. Quwwali music bangs so hard!
Nusrat had an incredibly large vocal range, he could go lower than most, and his highest pitches were incredible. I flatter myself that I can sing, I have a quarter of his range. Some humans are gifted.

This Qawwali has been giving me a mystical transcendence ever since I heard it first . The 'harkat' Nusrat saab does 8th minute onward almost gave me an out of the body experience let alone the goose bumps . Such brilliance can only be Divine. In this case, Ameer khusro who created tis composition was Muslim and Nusrat who is singing is also Muslim. Firstly, you should know what you are listening to. Qawwali contains praise of Allah, Prophet (peace be upon him) and companions ( May Allah be pleased with them ) and saints. Anything outside that is not Qawwali. That is if course Islam. It would be non sense to say that it Islam is not behind Qawwali.
