Taking Apart the Knee

I am disassembling the knee of the old horizontal milling machine so I can do a good job cleaning and degreasing. I will work on getting the primary casting stripped and cleaned up, and I will degrease all mechanical components. Primary casting will be painted to match the main casting of the mill.
Hopefully I can begin scraping the ways before assembly.

This looks like quite the job! I recently (in the last year or so) acquired an old mill and cleaned it up most of the way and boy do they just love to let these machines accumulate with gunk and grime... But like you've found at least they aren't rusting!

I have had the mill sitting for a couple of years! The week I got it, I was so excited to use it, but I wanted to get it cleaned up. Once I started cleaning, I couldn't help but take it all apart. I am finally getting back to it, and it is a fun process :)
