SPOILER WARNING I never went to the Forgotten Temple after the first Tear. So I did all the memories out of order similar to the first game. The memory where Mineru talks about Draconification was the last memory I found. So Zelda transforming caught me ABSOLUTELY off guard. I realize now that there was a lot of foreshadowing throughout the memory quest to this happening. But I did not see it coming at all. It absolutely blew me away. D:
I did them in order, but unfortunately I got to the conclusion that Zelda was the Light Dragon as soon as I got that Mineru memory. That's because I already had the Champion's Leathers at that point and saw that you need parts of the Light Dragon to upgrade it. It was Zelda's gift to Link, and that Dragon (said in the compendion to be a comforting presence) wasn't there in BoTW, so learning draconification was a possibility was the last piece of the puzzle. The last two memories were still impactful, but more because of the dread of knowing what was coming than due to it taking me by surprise. I still wish I didn't go straight to Hateno to check on the house, or that I waited to go after the Champion's Leathers when the story naturally took me to the Castle. If it wasn't for the upgrade requirements it has, I don't think I would have made the connection that early.
When you realize that the tradition of naming the princess Zelda was likely because of THIS Zelda leaving such a great impression on the people of the past, likely making her named after herself.
When I first did this 5:17:10 shrine, I was thinking it was like BOTW and forget ascend existed for an hour. Gave up, came back, and remembered I wasn’t playing BOTW. I love this game.

I mean, BotW and TotK essentially serve as reboots to the series. Still have no idea why anyone thinks otherwise. The timeline is something Nintendo themselves don't even know how it works, which is why they're always changing it and retconning it. It was either a Zeltik or Commonwealth Realm video that covered this, but I remember it discussing the Zelda games before BOTW falling under "the era of myth" in an updated timeline. If I remember this correctly, then it would certainly free the devs from the corner they've written themselves into with the previous timeline. The way I understand it lore-wise is all the previous games represent the myths and legends passed down of the earlier hero and princess incarnations. So for example the Imprisoning War happened, but not *exactly* how (or when?) it's portrayed in ALttP. Either way, I'll be curious to see how the devs handle the timeline storytelling going forward.

He took what Rauru said as being a statement of fact, which is a mistake. What Rauru says obviously can only be indicative of what he believes to be true, but Rauru himself was mistaken. I think videogame players often forget that characters are not omniscient. They are not narrators.

you mean fuse a two handed weapon with a shield. not the other way around, that just gives you a shield with a weapon on it (which btw is useful if your inventory is full, since you can later pull it apart at Tarrey town.)
@@mver191 It makes no sense if you try to relate it to any of the games released prior to Breath of the Wild, but since Breath of the Wild is basically a reboot of the franchise (at the very least, a soft reboot), this should not matter. If we look at Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom as a self-contained duology, though, then the story makes perfect sense, and frankly, it is nowhere near as complicated as most people make it out to be.

Genuinely cannot believe how goofy and entitled chat is. This is someone's first playthrough, blind, of the game and he keeps repeating that he doesn't want backseating and spoilers and they still constantly try to spoil and get angry when he just wants to have fun and play at his own pace. If you don't like watching a blind playthrough just watch a speedrun or a guide.
5:04:15 the way I imagine time loops as shown here and in media like this, is no matter what, the character being flung back in time was going to happen. That is set in stone, so to speak, but knowledge of the event is never kept up to the point where it happens. Zelda has to be flung back in time, for the events that led her to that point to even happen.
That's exactly what the story implies, by virtue of the fact that Zelda appears in recorded history as having been in the past, and by the fact that Ganondorf knew who Zelda and Link were despite them having never met him in their time. Rauru doesn't know this, though.

Zelda ALWAYS went to the past. Only for the younger Zelda, before finding Ganondorf, that was the future, and for Rauru, before the battle, sealing Ganondorf also was still the future. So... It ALWAYS happened. The time line is one and straight. And there's also evidence in game :)
Correct. Rauru himself doesn't know this, though. It would be literally impossible for him to know, since he has no access to the future in the way Zelda does, and even Zelda has limited knowledge too.

nintendo has stated they make the story flexible so its up to oneself to imagine wich parts are where while they probably have an updated timeline for thair eyes as they had one in 2003 or so and only released that one in 2013 its likely they have an updated 1 where newer games also is set but they make each game flexible to not give themselfs restrictions on the story
i belive the 3 imortal dragons, dinrall, farosh, and naydra are the draconified goddeses that crwated hyrule: Din, Nayru, and Farore. we learned about these 3 goddeses in other zelda games so if you wanna know more about that look up the ocarina of time triforce goddess cutscene or somethiing like that.
timeloop explanation : tldr, explanation later : as long as we dont touch the initial scenarios leading to our time travel and deal with what comes after said travel, its fine, we still needed to go to the past to prepare for whats after. ok first : the paradox : to have the classic paradox, you have to eliminate the need to go to the past in the past, ie : Stop a car crash. once you prevent the car crash in the past theres no need to go back to the past so you dont and the crash still happens. BUT in that scenario two key things : we control our time travel (Zelda didnt, she was accidentally sent back from outside circumstances) and we prevented the incident and it was our goal. but lets say that we realise that the paradox is a thing while in the past and we got sent back by outside circumstances, 1) we shift our goals midway to reduce the aftermath and 2) we will get sent in the past anyway no matter what we do, we didnt control it, it was unrelated to the needs. in this situation, Zelda was accidentally sent in the past by pure mayhaps (or maybe sonia watches over OR AS I JUST THOUGHT dont ever change the scenarios/parameters leading to your time travel, deal with what comes after : ie the hospital bills) and she obvly later decides to prepare to deal with ganon after he wakes up again. she deal with the aftermath of the crash after it happens without removing the initial needs to time travel in the first place. theres no paradox, the crash still happens but we have insurance and no injuries caus we got sent by external forces to the past and prepared to deal with it. the sages are the insurance. it only loops once.

He took what Rauru said as being a statement of fact, which is a mistake. What Rauru says obviously can only be indicative of what he believes to be true, but Rauru himself was mistaken. I think videogame players often forget that characters are not omniscient. They are not narrators.

you mean fuse a two handed weapon with a shield. not the other way around, that just gives you a shield with a weapon on it (which btw is useful if your inventory is full, since you can later pull it apart at Tarrey town.)

@@mver191 It makes no sense if you try to relate it to any of the games released prior to Breath of the Wild, but since Breath of the Wild is basically a reboot of the franchise (at the very least, a soft reboot), this should not matter. If we look at Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom as a self-contained duology, though, then the story makes perfect sense, and frankly, it is nowhere near as complicated as most people make it out to be.

This is someone's first playthrough, blind, of the game and he keeps repeating that he doesn't want backseating and spoilers and they still constantly try to spoil and get angry when he just wants to have fun and play at his own pace. If you don't like watching a blind playthrough just watch a speedrun or a guide.

That is set in stone, so to speak, but knowledge of the event is never kept up to the point where it happens. Zelda has to be flung back in time, for the events that led her to that point to even happen.
That's exactly what the story implies, by virtue of the fact that Zelda appears in recorded history as having been in the past, and by the fact that Ganondorf knew who Zelda and Link were despite them having never met him in their time. Rauru doesn't know this, though.

Zelda ALWAYS went to the past. Only for the younger Zelda, before finding Ganondorf, that was the future, and for Rauru, before the battle, sealing Ganondorf also was still the future. So... It ALWAYS happened. The time line is one and straight. And there's also evidence in game :)
Correct. Rauru himself doesn't know this, though. It would be literally impossible for him to know, since he has no access to the future in the way Zelda does, and even Zelda has limited knowledge too.

nintendo has stated they make the story flexible so its up to oneself to imagine wich parts are where while they probably have an updated timeline for thair eyes as they had one in 2003 or so and only released that one in 2013 its likely they have an updated 1 where newer games also is set but they make each game flexible to not give themselfs restrictions on the story

i belive the 3 imortal dragons, dinrall, farosh, and naydra are the draconified goddeses that crwated hyrule: Din, Nayru, and Farore. we learned about these 3 goddeses in other zelda games so if you wanna know more about that look up the ocarina of time triforce goddess cutscene or somethiing like that.

tldr, explanation later : as long as we dont touch the initial scenarios leading to our time travel and deal with what comes after said travel, its fine, we still needed to go to the past to prepare for whats after.
ok first : the paradox : to have the classic paradox, you have to eliminate the need to go to the past in the past, ie : Stop a car crash. once you prevent the car crash in the past theres no need to go back to the past so you dont and the crash still happens.
BUT in that scenario two key things : we control our time travel (Zelda didnt, she was accidentally sent back from outside circumstances) and we prevented the incident and it was our goal.
but lets say that we realise that the paradox is a thing while in the past and we got sent back by outside circumstances, 1) we shift our goals midway to reduce the aftermath and 2) we will get sent in the past anyway no matter what we do, we didnt control it, it was unrelated to the needs.
in this situation, Zelda was accidentally sent in the past by pure mayhaps (or maybe sonia watches over OR AS I JUST THOUGHT dont ever change the scenarios/parameters leading to your time travel, deal with what comes after : ie the hospital bills) and she obvly later decides to prepare to deal with ganon after he wakes up again. she deal with the aftermath of the crash after it happens without removing the initial needs to time travel in the first place.
theres no paradox, the crash still happens but we have insurance and no injuries caus we got sent by external forces to the past and prepared to deal with it.
the sages are the insurance. it only loops once.
