You can take any dilute acid.. *if it is a carbonate salt* on reaction with dilute acid it gives CO2 gas which can turn limewater milky
You told if reddish brown fumes are evolved then it is bromide..but it can also be nitrate right ???
Nitrate reaction occurs only on exposing it to flame
